AI-guided automation processes boost Al Gharbia's production and quality control capabilities.
Abu Dhabi, UAE (April 21, 2025) – Al Gharbia Pipe Company (AGPC), an Abu Dhabi-based producer of longitudinally submerged arc welded (LSAW) steel pipes, has achieved a major production milestone of 500,000 tons from its factory in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).
This achievement highlights AGPC's utilisation of advanced technologies such as AI and reflects its commitment to significantly contribute towards the manufacturing sector. This achievement also aligns with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology's (MoIAT) Operation 300bn strategy, which focuses on advanced technologies, production localisation and cross-country partnerships.
After commercial production and sales commenced in 2019, AGPC continually ramped up its production capacity by acquiring state-of-the-art equipment. Its smart manufacturing system executes, monitors, tracks and reports operations on the plant floor in real-time, enabling total quality control and traceability through every step of the manufacturing process. This automated process ensures every pipe meets the highest quality standards and allows AGPC to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.

Egypt's Foreign Reserves Exceed $49 Billion for First Time in History
Taarek Refaat The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the country's foreign currency reserves rose to approximately $49.036 billion in July 2025, surpassing the $49 billion mark for the first time in Egypt's history. This increase comes after the reserves stood at around $48.7 billion at the end of June 2025, reflecting a rise of $336 million. Egypt's foreign reserves are composed of a basket of major global currencies, including the US dollar, the euro, the British pound, the Japanese yen, and the Chinese yuan. The composition and distribution of these reserves are adjusted based on exchange rates and the stability of these currencies in international markets, according to a plan set by the Central Bank of Egypt's officials. The primary function of Egypt's foreign currency reserves is to ensure the availability of essential goods, pay off external debt installments and interest, and manage economic crises, particularly during exceptional circumstances. This is especially important as the country continues to face challenges related to hard currency revenue from key sectors. Earlier, the Central Bank reported a slight increase in reserves for June 2025, which stood at $48.7 billion, compared to $48.526 billion at the end of May 2025, showing an increase of $174 million. Additionally, Egypt's net foreign assets in the banking sector, including both the central bank and commercial banks, grew by $231 million to reach $14.941 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to $14.71 billion at the end of May 2025. The Central Bank also revealed that net foreign assets in commercial banks increased by 1.1%, reaching their highest level in four years, totaling $4.88 billion by the end of June. Chinese business delegation explores SCZONE's investment, logistics potential
A high-level delegation from the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce (ZFIC), led by Vice President Jin Min Xiang, visited the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) on Tuesday to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's strategic logistics hub. The delegation, comprising government officials and representatives from leading Zhejiang-based companies in construction, logistics services, metal industries, investment, and financial services, met with SCZONE Chairperson Walid Gamal El-Din and other senior officials. During the meeting, Gamal El-Din delivered a presentation outlining the SCZONE's strengths and competitive advantages. The zone integrates six ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas with four industrial zones equipped with world-class infrastructure—positioning it as a leading global logistics hub. He noted that the SCZONE's strategy now targets 21 industrial, service, and logistics sectors for localisation. He also highlighted the zone's access to global markets through free trade and international agreements, which enhance its attractiveness to foreign investors. Gamal El-Din reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more investments, particularly from China, building on last month's promotional tour to the country.
