Saturday Kitchen star addresses absence as they make BBC return
Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt was thrilled to welcome back a much-loved figure on the BBC show.
During the most recent instalment, the presenter wasted no time in addressing the absence of wine expert Olly Smith.
As Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty handed over to Matt during BBC Breakfast to discover what was happening in his show, the 51-year-old turned his attention to his colleague.
Matt commented: "He's back! Olly Smith, where have you been all my life?!"
Olly replied: "Oh well, all your life! Well, over the last few weeks, I've had a triple threat of writing, going to weddings, and festivals."
The Saturday Kitchen host questioned whether or not the nuptials were fun to attend.
He added: "They were actually to be fair, I was going to be mean, but no, they were really lovely. I mean, who doesn't love to celebrate love?"
Usually, BBC viewers are used to seeing Olly alternate on Saturday Kitchen with fellow wine expert Helen McGinn.
Over the past few weeks, Helen has been holding down the fort, with Olly's last appearance on the show before taking a brief break being June 14.
Currently, there's speculation that Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt could be the new face of MasterChef, following the axing of John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
A source told The Sun: "Matt is seen as a really safe pair of hands by the BBC. He has been in the frame for some time and is now being lined up for MasterChef. The BBC are keen to bring Andi Oliver on board too. She has been so popular as host of the Great British Menu."
They further added: "They're not sure if she can commit at this stage because of her schedule with that show, but everyone is hoping they can get her on board. Everyone loves Andi, and she would be perfect for the role in many ways.
"She is very talented on her own merit, but she would also help bring a more diverse look to the show, which is much needed. The last thing the show wants is to be slapped with being 'pale, and stale' by a new generation of food lovers."
The presenting change comes as former hosts John and Gregg were both axed by the BBC after an investigation upheld allegations about them both in regards to "inappropriate behaviour".

Gurinder told the BBC: "We've been part of changing the game for women, so it felt like this was a good time for me to go back and investigate the characters." The director said she has been asked 'almost twice a week' since the original came out to create a sequel, though no decision has been made on whether it will take the form of a film or a television series. She added: 'A lot has changed since the original movie, but I think that people still don't think that women should play football. "There are people who still don't take it seriously, although the Lionesses are riding high. I've left it a while, but I thought: 'Look at the Euros, look at the Lionesses.'" Gurinder said she hopes to reunite the original cast and suggested members of the current England squad would be 'queuing up' to appear in cameo roles. The original film, made on a £3.5 million budget, became a box office success, earning nearly £60 million worldwide. It followed Jess Bhamra (Parminder), a teenager who dreams of playing football professionally, despite pressure from her traditional Sikh family to focus on education and marriage. She is recruited by Jules (Keira), who spots her talent and brings her into the local women's team. Chadha claimed she had not expected the film to take off, but wanted to 'uplift girls who were always being told how to dress and what to say'. Keira Knightley admits she's only watched Love Actually once - and reveals real reason why She said: 'What I did was say you can do what you want, and you can have it all,' she said. 'And I think that's a really great message to put out again. I think there's still stuff to say, and stuff to challenge.' Gurinder was inspired to create the film after seeing a photograph of legendary England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright dressed in a union jack flag. This made her think about what Britishness actually meant and the "evolving concept of Britishness." Football is important to Britain and the sport has the power to pull many different people together. Gary Lineker, who featured in the film, reflected on it saying how "football does unify the nation, everyone gets behind England and it's probably the only time we do all come together. That's what originated the idea of Bend It Like Beckham." There are plenty of fun facts about the film besides Wright being the inspiration. The budget may have been just £3.5 million but it grossed at nearly £60 million. Chada didn't know much about football and relied on co-writers to add the football bits. It was even the first Western filmed to be screened in North Korea at a public broadcast during a film festival in the country. Actresses Nagra and Kiera did three months worth of football training for the film and didn't use any doubles. The title itself is a metaphor as Chada explained back in 2003. She said: "We can see our goal but instead of going straight there, we too have to twist and bend the rules sometimes to get what we want. But when his last wishes were made public in 2024, it became clear that Leslie's will had been changed during the Covid crisis. The new will, approved in the Court of Protection, was substantially different to the one drawn up by Leslie the day before the couple married in December 2013. In 2014 Leslie suffered a massive stroke, and Zara quit work and looked after him until his death in November 2022. Leslie's first will had allowed Zara, his third wife and 36 years his junior, to stay in his £4million West London home for the rest of her life. But former air stewardess Zara discovered that a new will states the property must be sold and the proceeds put into a trust fund to be divided between her and Leslie's two sons and two daughters from his first marriage to actress Penelope Bartley. The new will, drawn up in November 2020, insists Zara has to be out of the five-bed property next month. According to a legal letter seen by The Sun, if she refuses to go, lawyers will apply to the courts for possession. Fighting back tears Zara says: 'Where would I go? The following year he married Bond girl Angela Scoular, who killed herself in 2011 with a lethal cocktail of drugs and alcohol after suffering terminal bowel cancer. Zara, a friend for more than 20 years, helped Leslie come to terms with Angela's death. They fell in love and married in December 2013. The actor's estate is valued at over £5million, including the house, which he bought in the 1960s at the height of his fame. When Covid shut down the country in 2020, Zara protected Leslie from the effects of the pandemic. But at that time Leslie changed the will, giving Zara just two years nine months after his death to vacate the house. Zara says: 'I was very vulnerable that time. The country was in the grip of the Covid crisis. 'I was the main carer for Leslie, who was disabled. His will was not my priority at that time. 'I was younger than him and I was devoted and committed. He was my main priority. I loved him with all my heart. I did what I had to do and put Leslie first.'
