Man arrested in connection with death of Nenagh woman (89) in 2024
Josephine 'Joan' Ray (89) was found dead in her home at St Joseph's Park in Nenagh on August 4th of last year. She was last seen alive the previous day.
In a statement on Thursday, gardaí said a man had been arrested in relation to the investigation. He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí said their investigations are ongoing.

At the time of her death, Ms Ray was predeceased by her husband Paddy and daughter Joan. She was survived by her daughters Sarah, Frances, Mary and Carmel, as well as extended family.
Gardaí immediately preserved the scene following the discovery of Ms Ray's body and members of the Garda National Technical Bureau travelled from Dublin to examine the scene.
A senior investigating officer was appointed to lead the investigation, while a Garda family liaison officer was also assigned to support the family.
Ms Ray was a native of Carney, 15km north of Nenagh.
Paying tribute at the time, Tipperary Independent councillor Seamie Morris said she was 'a real character, who loved her fashion'.
Ms Ray's neighbour, Michael O'Brien, described her as having a 'heart of gold, and I will dearly miss her and so will her many friends in St Joseph's Park and beyond'.

'He took out the guitar and sang three of the songs he'd composed. 'We were blown away and so proud — we were lucky to have experienced that. It is something we will never forget.' Gardai issue urgent appeal over man missing for over two weeks as concerns grow
Gardaí have launched a fresh appeal to the public for help in locating a Wicklowman who has been missing for more than two weeks, as concern grows for his well-being. Gerard Fitzgerald, aged 39, has been missing from Bray since Friday, June 20. Gardai have confirmed that Gerard was later seen at Bray Dart station in the early hours of Monday, June 23. Gerard is described as being approximately five foot 10 inches in height, of slim build with brown hair and hazel or green eyes. Gardaí and Gerard's family are concerned for his well-being and have appealed for anyone with any information on his whereabouts to contact authorities. A Garda spokesperson said in a statement: "Gardaí are renewing their appeal to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Gerard Fitzgerald (39), who was reported missing from Bray, Co. Wicklow since Friday 20th June 2025. "Gerard is described as being approximately 5 foot 10 inches in height, of slim build with brown hair and hazel or green eyes. "There has since been a confirmed sighting of Gerard in the early hours of Monday 23rd June 2025 at Bray Dart station. "Gardaí and Gerard's family are concerned for his well-being.
