Maryam to launch ‘Int'l Certification Programme' for freelancers
An international certification program has been launched for freelancers in Punjab. EdTech, Matriculation pilot project has been launched in the government schools of Punjab. Internship programs have been started in every government department including agriculture and environment.
The Chief Minister in her message on World Youth Skills Day highlighted, 'Time has changed, acquiring skills along with education is the need of the hour in today's world.
Acquiring skills instead of degrees is the real power which changes the destiny of developed nations. Skills are not just a source of employment but a guarantee of self-confidence and national progress as well prosperity.'
She outlined, 'In the present era, acquiring skills proficiency are the key to development.
IT skills are being imparted to the youth, which are the biggest tool of success of the present era.' She maintained, 'Nawaz Sharif IT City will not only provide a platform but also strengthen the skills of the youth. TEVTA is providing training and skills to the talented youth of Punjab in conformity with the needs of the modern era.'
She vowed, 'It is my firm resolve that every youth must attain skill to earn a decent livelihood. Skill is not only a path to employment but also guarantees respect and dignity. My dream is to see that the youth of Punjab should not only seek jobs but also be able to provide employment. It is a mission of the Punjab government that our youth should become successful in every field of life ranging from freelancing to entrepreneurship.'

CM for digital payment system for public transport
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting in which a detailed review was taken regarding Transport Department and Mass Transit Authority. The meeting decided to introduce a digital payment system for Metro Bus and Orange Line in Punjab. It was informed in the meeting that the token system will be abolished in Orange Line train and Metro Bus and a Barcode system will be introduced through card-based payment. Fare can be paid through credit card, debit card/ATM card and mobile account app. Fare can also be paid through NFC i.e. card tap and touch in the mass transit system. Fare can be paid only through credit card and debit card on Metro Bus in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The token system will be abolished soon by implementing an e-payment system in Lahore's Orange Line train. Fare can be paid through credit card, debit card, payment apps on Lahore's Orange Line train. The meeting also decided to introduce a single card for the mass transit system across the province. The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the T-Cash card for the mass transit system. Travel on every metro bus or Orange Line across the province will be possible through the T-Cash card system. A separate card will be introduced for students in the mass transit system. The chief minister also gave in-principle approval for recruitment to technical posts from grade 5 to 18 in the transport department. The meeting agreed to introduce electric rickshaws as an alternative to motorcycle rickshaws. The chief minister has sought suggestions and recommendations for the electric rickshaw project. She also gave in-principle approval to organize the first-ever international transport expo in Punjab. She also announced the introduction of a single comprehensive RFID sticker for all matters related to vehicles. Secretary Transport Imran Sikandar Baloch gave a detailed briefing on the Yellow Line Lahore-Gujranwala BRT. It was apprised in the briefing that the supply of electric buses in the districts of Punjab will start from August. The meeting also reviewed the design and colour recommendations of prefabricated bus shelters in Lahore. The work of installing 50 prefabricated bus shelters in Lahore will start soon. Medium- and small-scale agri activities: PM for easy lending policy
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday called for urgent measures to revitalise the country's struggling agricultural sector, stressing the need for a bold roadmap to provide easy loans and advanced technology to small and medium farmers, particularly those owning less than 12 acres. Chairing a high-level review meeting on national agricultural development and financing, Sharif directed officials to present a comprehensive plan by the end of the month aimed at facilitating farmers' access to easy-term loans for modern agricultural equipment, artificial intelligence technologies, and quality seeds. He emphasised the importance of improving farmers' access to small-scale industrial machinery to process produce into export-ready products, underlining that agricultural development and value addition are critical to Pakistan's overall progress. SME, agri financing: Aurangzeb lauds SBP and banks for stellar growth 'The development of Pakistan is closely linked to the agricultural sector and the value addition of farmers' produce,' Sharif said, noting that supporting small farmers remains a top priority for agricultural growth. 'The government is accelerating reforms to provide farmers with modern equipment, quality seeds, AI tools, improved water management systems, on-farm small industries, and other essential facilities,' he added. These reforms also include measures to offer farmers necessary facilities and training to boost exports through the processing of agricultural commodities. During the meeting, officials presented detailed briefing on ongoing reforms in the agricultural sector, the performance of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL), and loan disbursement efforts. Sharif instructed the development and timely submission of comprehensive plans to introduce a modernised agri-financing system that ensures farmers receive loans on easy terms. Eight commercial plots, four shops: CDA raises Rs19bn through sale
ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully concluded the third and final day of its open auction, raising a remarkable Rs19.56 billion through the sale of eight commercial plots and four shops in Blue Area's Parking Plaza. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa personally oversaw the transparent auction process, which saw an overwhelming response from local and overseas investors. The active participation of the business community underscored renewed investor confidence in the authority's planning, transparency, and facilitation measures. Among the top bids on the third day, four retail units in Blue Area's Parking Plaza fetched impressive amounts: Shop No. 12-A: Rs146.7 million Shop No. 8-A: Rs145.7 million Shop No. 10-A: Rs143.2 million Shop No. 8-C: Rs94.3 million Earlier, three plots and one petrol pump site was auctioned. Plot No. 13 in Blue Area (8-G) sold for Rs7.24 billion Plot No. 14 in Blue Area (8-G): Rs4.16 billion Plot No. 12 in Blue Area (8-G): Rs3.60 billion Petrol pump site in Sector I-14 Markaz: Rs1.64 billion In total, 46 commercial plots and shops were offered through open auction over three days at Jinnah Convention Centre. To ensure transparency, the auction process was jointly monitored by senior CDA officials including Member Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed NifasatRaza, and Member Planning Dr Khalid Hafeez. On the sidelines of the auction, CDA also organised an Investment Expo featuring facilitation booths by the Environment Wing, MCI, and Sports and Culture Directorate to raise awareness and provide real-time assistance to potential investors. The CDA also announced incentive packages, including a five per cent discount on lump-sum payments within a month and an additional five per cent discount for payments made in US dollars. A dedicated facilitation team remains on standby to assist investors at every step. Randhawa said the revenue generated from this successful auction will be directed towards Islamabad's infrastructure uplift, sector development, and beautification projects, aiming to transform the capital into a modern and model city.
