2026 4-star ATH commits to Tennessee over Texas A&M

2026 4-star ATH commits to Tennessee over Texas A&M

USA Todaya day ago

While head coach Mike Elko and company have been hot on the recruiting trail as of late, the program saw a four-star wide receiver prospect commit to the Tennessee Volunteers over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.
It was down to the Aggies and the Vols, but when it came time for the final decision to be made, Legend Bey locked in his commitment to become Josh Heupel's 13th member of Tennessee's 2026 class. Bey spent most of his high school football career at the quarterback position, where he threw for 1,444 passing yards and 41 touchdowns.
Per 247 Sports Player Recruiting Rankings, Bey is the No. 23 ATH and No. 49 player in the state of Texas. He also ranks as the No. 451 player in the country in the 2026 cycle.
He received 36 total offers, including those from Ohio State, West Virginia, Duke, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Oklahoma State. His elite speed and potential at wideout are why Bey will likely move from his normal position as a signal-caller to catching passes in Neyland Stadium for the Vols in 2026.
Crystal ball predictions from 247 Sports had Elko and company with the highest probability of landing his commitment. Still, Heupel's spread offense spoke volumes to Bey in his transition to wide receiver. The speedy track and field star is highly touted for his ability to accelerate and find holes in opposing defenses quickly. His strong arm also makes him a dangerous threat for Heupel to use, with Bey already in talks to throw the ball around some in the Vols' offense.
Following the last two days of multiple 2026 commits announcing their future destinations, the Aggies fell from No. 2 to No. 4 in 247 Sports Team Recruiting Rankings. Elko and crew have landed 21 hard commits for the upcoming class, including two five-star and 12 four-star prospects. After months on the trail trying to land Bey, the announcement from the track and field star is disappointing news for Texas A&M and the Aggie fans. There are more athletes on the radar that fans in Aggieland should keep their eyes on, however.

Carson Branstine, model and rising tennis phenom, enters spotlight ahead of Wimbledon match

Carson Branstine was already a fan favorite before she entered the first round of Wimbledon against the top-ranked women's tennis player in the world, Aryna Sabalenka. Branstine, of Canada, starred at Texas A&M and helped the Aggies to a national championship before she turned pro. She was able to make the final bracket for Wimbledon after she tore through the qualifying rounds, defeating one-time U.S. Open champion Bianca Andreescu, Raluca Georgiana Serban and Lois Boisson. However, what captured the attention of social media before the match against Sabalenka was her status as a fashion model. Branstine is signed with Wilhelmina Models and the Neal Hamil Agency. She opened up about funding her tennis dreams through modeling in an interview with reporters ahead of Wimbledon earlier this month. "I love being in front of the camera during a shoot. It's fun, I love fashion. It's been one of the reasons I've been able to pay some of my trips. I didn't want to ask my parents for anything — I wanted everything to come from me and from my tennis," she said, via Clay. "I wasn't signed by these agencies because of my tennis — it was for my look. Modeling and tennis are weirdly similar – you are an object a lot, and people sometimes forget you're a person too." While Branstine fell to Sabalenka in straight sets, she gave the Belarusian a run for her money in the second set, losing 7-5. She was ranked No. 194 in the world before going up against Sabalenka. She has 136 wins in her career and seven titles in International Tennis Federation events. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

3 takeaways from the Steelers landing Jalen Ramsey

The never-ending speculation can finally end — Jalen Ramsey is now a Pittsburgh Steeler! After a month of Ramsey-to-Pittsburgh rumors, the Steelers pulled off the mother-of-all blockbuster trades to land the three-time All-Pro cornerback, with an added bonus in TE Jonnu Smith. Here are the three biggest takeaways from the Steelers-Dolphins trade for Jalen Ramsey: Steelers have the best defense in the NFL Ramsey's arrival in Pittsburgh leaves no doubt — the Steelers have the best defense in the NFL. While losing Minkah Fitzpatrick is concerning, his lack of splash plays and impact on the defense had begun to decline over the past few seasons. The Steelers have options to replace him, including the newly acquired Ramsey in certain defensive packages. From the defensive line to the secondary, this Black and Gold defense is ready to compete with the very elite in the NFL. Ramsey in, Beanie out? The exceptional undrafted cornerback that is Beanie Bishop Jr. will need to wait one more season to solidify his breakout, as the Ramsey trade likely impacts his starting opportunity at slot corner — or will it? It remains to be seen who will take over the starting free safety reps full time, but if Juan Thornhill takes over, Beanie will play less on defense. Learning behind Darius Slay Jr. and Ramsey will do wonders for his development, however, and the young Steelers corner will serve as one of the NFL's best backup slot cornerbacks. Super Bowl or bust in 2025: Aaron Rodgers' last ride Defenses win championships, and that's exactly what this Steelers roster is geared up to compete for. Trading for Ramsey reveals the Steelers are all in on maximizing Rodgers' likely final year in the NFL — and while there are concerns regarding Pittsburgh's offense, the defense is Super Bowl caliber. Olivier Rioux stats from Game 2 of FIBA U19 World Cup vs. Slovenia

Team Canada was at its best while Florida big man Olivier Rioux was on the court Monday morning in an 82-63 win over Slovenia at the FIBA U19 World Cup. Rioux played just five minutes and didn't put up any meaningful numbers in the group stage opener on Sunday, but he had one of the top five plus-minus performances (plus-15) of anyone on the court Monday. Rioux doubled his playing time with 11:20 of action in Game 2. He grabbed three defensive rebounds and scored two points, both on free throws. Rioux also got tagged for a personal foul and turnover, but maintained a positive efficiency rating of four. The 7-foot-9-inch redshirt freshman runs the floor surprisingly well for his size, but Rioux is still learning to control his body on the court. The foul he was called for came on an errant elbow during a rare moment of possession. He's so much bigger than everyone that a careless spin can easily turn into a flagrant foul, especially with most guards and wings standing about eye level with his elbows. Rioux boxes out well, but he's not too aggressive or explosive on either side of the glass. Still, He's an obvious presence down low that opposing teams have to plan around. Quick guards will be able to create space and loft a high-arcing shot over Rioux, though. His free-throw shot is pretty for a big man. Rioux and Team Canada face fellow Group B undefeated Germany on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The two 2-0 teams are among the five undefeated remaining in pool play. Mathematically, only four can exist at the conclusion of the group stage. Round of 16 games are scheduled for Wednesday, and the rest of bracket play continues on Friday through the weekend.
