Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Junior acknowledged a poor showing in recent mid-term elections, making clear that he intends to address inadequacies in every aspect of governance. He has promised more jobs and housing, wider healthcare coverage, support for students and farmers, as well as improvements to energy and water systems. There was also no mention of Vice President Sara Duterte, who is in a public feud with Mr Marcos, despite an earlier alliance that brought them both to office in 2022.
