Ajay Devgn Says Outsiders In Bollywood Expect Stardom Overnight, Calls Them ‘Misguided'
Ajay Devgn, promoting Son of Sardaar 2, discussed newcomers' misconceptions about Bollywood, crediting his father for his industry knowledge.
Ajay Devgn feels that many newcomers from non-film backgrounds enter Bollywood with the wrong expectations. While promoting his upcoming comedy Son of Sardaar 2, the actor said some outsiders expect to become stars instantly, without understanding the hard work and acting skills required.
Ajay appeared on Archana Puran Singh's YouTube show along with his co-star Mrunal Thakur. When asked if he learned about the industry from his father, stunt choreographer Veeru Devgan, Ajay said, 'Whatever I've learnt technically and about the industry is all because of him. The kind of dedication he had and what he taught me…the honesty towards work, all of it comes from him."
Archana noted that this early exposure is one reason the industry often prefers people from film families. 'They already learn professional ethics from their parents," she said. Ajay agreed, adding, 'You get to learn a lot."
Speaking about outsiders, Ajay shared, 'I am not talking about everybody because there are sensible people, but a lot of times, they come in not knowing if they want to be an actor or a star. You cannot be a star on day one; first, you need to be an actor. So, I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere for people; they are misguided about the industry…those from outside film families. I think ultimately, it's your hard work."
Son of Sardaar 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film. The film will release in theatres on August 1. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film features a powerhouse cast including Ajay Devgn, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Vindu Dara Singh, Roshni Walia, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta, and the late Mukul Dev.
Presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, a Devgn Films and SOS 2 Limited production, Son of Sardaar 2 is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Produced by N. R. Pachisia and Pravin Talreja, and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Son of Sardaar 2 is set to release on August 1, 2025.
The movie follows the story of Sardaar Jassi, who has now moved to Scotland and has landed himself in hilarious trouble.

‘Casting couch was trending in Bollywood': Surveen Chawla says she considered quitting the industry, lost out on work for saying no
Surveen Chawla, who will next be seen in Netflix's upcoming series Mandala Murders, recently opened up about the time when she contemplated quitting the entertainment industry because it was 'all about casting couch.' In the past, many actors have opened up about their unsavoury experiences where they were asked to provide sexual favours in exchange for a role in a film or a show and while the #MeToo movement in India did bring that discussion to the forefront, it did not put an end to the menace. In her interview, Surveen shared that she wanted to quit the business as casting couch was 'trending.' She shared with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, 'There was a time when it was all about casting couch. It just felt dirty to even step out and I was like, 'I don't want to do this'. There was that phase. It was almost like it was trending.' She explained what she meant by trending and said, 'Trending, of course, I am not talking about social media. Metaphorically. Symbolically. It was almost like it was trending.' Surveen said that she lost many roles because she put her foot down and refused to engage in such compromises. 'Everytime I would lose a part because I had the audacity to say no, or the audacity to just keep my ground in some way shape or form. But it was crazy. I felt like I have hit the end of the road. So that phase was like really tough. And I had to lay low and laze around and be like 'I can't do this, this is not what I was here for' sort of a thing,' she shared. After the meeting at his office cabin, he came to see me off at the gate, and this was after I got married. And the strange thing was that we talked about this in the meeting also, he asked me how it was going and what my husband did, and it was just us speaking inside his cabin because he had a big office.' She added, 'So, when I came to the door to say bye, he leaned towards me trying to kiss, and I had to push him back. I was startled and asked him what he was doing, and I just walked off.'
