Five Turner works to be auctioned on 250th anniversary of painter's birth
Christie's auction company, which sold a Turner watercolour for £5.8 million in 2006, will present several of his works for auction this July.
Among the pieces being sold is a watercolour titled, Lake Brienz, With The Setting Moon, during the Old Masters Evening Sale on July 1. It is estimated to fetch between £600,000 and £800,000.
There is also View Of Stoke House, which carries an estimated selling price of £20,000 to £30,000, and depicts a figure sketching what is thought to be a self-portrait in the foreground.
This piece, along with two others will be put for sale as part of the Old Masters, 19th Century Paintings And Drawings From A Private Collection: Selling Without Reserve event taking place on July 2.
Another of the pieces in this sale depicts the Cornish coastline around Pendennis Castle and carries an estimated selling price of £60,000 to £100,000.
One other Turner work, a pencil and watercolour on paper, will be part of Christie's Old Masters To Modern Day Sale: Paintings, Drawing Sculpture, also taking place on July 2.
These sales are part of Christie's Classic Week, which forms part of the auction company's programme of events for its London summer season.
Earlier in the year Tate Britain announced it would celebrate the 250th anniversary of Turner's birth with a new room showcasing his work and also said it would open a new video installation about Turner's travels across Europe, among other things.
Every other year the gallery hosts a prize ceremony for a prestigious contemporary art award named after the painter which is awarded to a British artist annually.

The kit itself is predominantly white and red and is based on the St George's Cross and its historic symbolism with the club. Marcus Rashford completed a season-long loan move to Barcelona from Manchester United, and new team-mate Jules Kounde has explained how the forward is settling in Marcus Rashford's new Barcelona colleagues have already spotted a personality trait that the striker felt was misjudged during his stint at Manchester United. Rashford completed a season-long loan switch to the La Liga champions, who possess an option to make the transfer permanent. The 27-year-old clocked up more than 400 outings and claimed five trophies with United before determining that his destiny lay elsewhere from his childhood club. After spending time at Aston Villa last campaign, Rashford is savouring the chance to make his mark at Barcelona. However, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has already observed that Rashford appears to be slightly quieter than other members of the squad. The England international previously admitted to feeling misunderstood at times during his United career, having had his character regularly questioned by fans and big-name pundits. "He's a bit introverted, but he's really enjoying himself, and feeling more and more comfortable," Kounde said of Rashford to Diario Sport. "I think he is happy. He is smiling a lot. Rashford made his Barcelona debut against Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe last week, coming off the bench for 33 minutes before being substituted. The United loanee most recently came on at half-time during Barcelona's thrilling 7-3 triumph over FC Seoul on Thursday, setting up the final goal scored by former Manchester City ace Ferran Torres. Scotland's first Gaelic metalcore band to debut at Belladrum
The Glasgow-based four-piece have build an online fanbase over the last year and intend to make an impact at Belladrum before making way for the likes of The Hoosiers and Example. The festival takes place just a few miles outside of Beauly, near Inverness, and vocalist Colin Stone said: '[[Gaelic]] music is often associated with accordions, acoustic guitars, and the fiddle. Gun Ghaol began as a way to combat that stereotype. "It's brilliant that Belladrum have recognised the following we've been building online and wanted to bring it to their audience. Read More 'We don't wear masks, there's nobody famous involved - it's just riffs and breakdowns in a language that deserves to be heard." Gun Ghaol will be the heaviest set across the three day festival that includes others such as Natasha Bedingfield, Supergrass and Texas but the group are aware of that and are keen to offer something different to audiences. Colin added: "We're something completely different for audiences. "Metalcore, our genre, has been performed in English for decades. There are other bands whose lyrics are in German, French, Russian. So I thought: why can't we do this in Gaelic? 'It's a language I've spoken all my life. It's my heritage. And if we can bring it to people in a way they've never heard before, that's fantastic.' Figures from the 2022 national census found that the number of Gaelic speakers in Scotland was on the rise, with strong increases in school-age children and young adults. Gun Ghaol themselves are fresh off the back of releasing 'Tog Dealbh', the second single from their upcoming 'Sgrios' EP with Dundee-based producer Kieran Smith.
