‘Superman' Global Box Office Collection Day 2: James Gunn's film mints THIS much money worldwide
Warner Bros, DC's latest entry into the superhero canon continues to gain momentum, particularly in Western markets, even as it faces headwinds in parts of Asia.
As of Friday, 'Superman' added $21.5 million from 78 international markets, bringing its offshore total to $40 million. When combined with Friday's domestic earnings, the film has already amassed a worldwide cumulative of $96.5 million, with the weekend's full results yet to be accounted for.
While Saturday and Sunday will further shape the final numbers, the early trend points to stronger domestic performance, with international markets offering a solid but slightly more varied response. Analysts note that this current projection of $210 million+ for the film's global opening is slightly higher than initial pre-weekend estimates.
Among standout territories, the United Kingdom delivered a robust $3.6 million opening on Friday, capturing 66% of the market share among the top five films — a clear No. 1 and a figure surpassing comparable superhero openings in the region.
However, the film's international rollout has not been entirely smooth. Performance in Asian markets has been muted, with industry observers pointing to continued softness in regions like South Korea, where the cinema market remains in recovery.
Additionally, as anticipated, the Chinese market has shown little traction for the film, continuing a trend of cool reception toward Western superhero properties in recent months.
Despite these regional variances, the overall trajectory for 'Superman' remains positive. Directed by James Gunn and introducing David Corenswet as the new Clark Kent and Nicholas Hoult as the new Lex Luthor, the film has been positioned as a fresh start for the DC Universe under Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership.
With the weekend still in full swing, and fan response trending favourably in core markets, Warner Bros will be watching closely to see whether Superman can maintain altitude and potentially push beyond its already impressive opening forecast.

Superman Box Office: Man of Steel lifts off to 29cr weekend in India
Superman debuted with Rs. 29 crore (USD 3.40 million) approx at the Indian box office during its first weekend. The weekend ranks as the third biggest ever for a DC film, behind Batman v Superman (Rs. 34 crore) and Aquaman (Rs. 30 crore). However, both those films included previews, in terms of the pure Friday-Saturday-Sunday frame, Superman actually tops the list. Man of Steel..., not the movie but the man, also edged past Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Rs. 28 crore), despite starting slightly behind on its first day. The film had a typical trend for a superhero movie, where Friday numbers are frontloaded due to fan-driven demand, resulting in relatively modest weekend growth. The film managed 35 per cent growth on Saturday, stronger than the norm by genre standards. Sunday saw a minor 5 per cent drop, which is again normal for Hollywood releases with a skew toward metro audiences. Similar to its weekend trend, the film is expected to follow the typical trajectory going forward. The Batman closed at Rs. 56 crore off Rs. 26 crore weekend, giving it a 2.15x multiple, while GoTG Vol. 3 managed 2.43x with Rs. 68 crore from Rs. 28 crore weekend. Superman will likely see something similar with a final number somewhere in Rs. 60-70 crore. The superhero genre is a major draw for Indian audiences when it comes to Hollywood, however, that success has largely been driven by Marvel. DC has historically lagged behind. Furthermore, director James Gunn's brand of filmmaking resonates more with the West than India. His Guardians films were among the lower-performing entries from the MCU in India as compared to the West. More broadly, the superhero genre itself has seen a slowdown lately, following its peak in the late 2010s and early 2020s. Taking all of that into account, the opening for Superman is a respectable one. In fact, relative to its softer start overseas outside the US, India is among the better markets for it.

BTS' Jimin & Jungkook tease comeback during chaotic Weverse live; Taehyung checks in solo as RM hints 'we cook (yes America)'
BTS members Jimin and Jungkook surprised fans with an impromptu Weverse live on Sunday, once again lighting up feeds with their trademark chaotic energy. Since their military discharge last month, the duo, fondly known as Jikook, have been practically inseparable. They're currently in Los Angeles alongside RM, Suga, and V (who recently arrived from Paris), working together on BTS's much-anticipated upcoming album. During the livestream, Jimin and Jungkook gave fans a few behind-the-scenes tidbits, revealing that they've already decided on their comeback song. While they held back on dropping any major spoilers, their excitement was clear. The live was filled with playful banter, including a hilarious moment where they mimicked Taehyung and a few light-hearted exchanges that reminded fans why Jikook lives rent-free in ARMY's heart. Jimin and Jungkook spill details on BTS' upcoming comeback During their last OT7 live, BTS revealed plans for a full-group comeback in spring 2026 and confirmed they will be working out of the US to prepare for it. Now, Jungkook and Jimin, who recently flew to the States with Suga after RM's arrival, have shared that their song for the comeback is already finalised. Jungkook, ever the eager spoiler king, was ready to drop hints, but Jimin, tapping into his responsible hyung mode, kept him in check and playfully stopped him before he could reveal too much. Though details remain under wraps, the update has only heightened anticipation for BTS' long-awaited return. if someone asks me 'what is jikook' imshowing them this video Jimin and Jungkook's school sasaengs BTS are no strangers to dealing with sasaengs, obsessive fans who invade their privacy, and the issue surfaced again during Jimin and Jungkook's recent Weverse live. At one point, someone repeatedly tried to log into their account mid-broadcast, visibly frustrating Jimin. Clearly flustered, he addressed the intrusion directly, saying, 'You already know too much about us. In fact, you know everything about us, so can you please stop?' 🐥: Who keeps trying to break into my id againnnn!!🐰: Yeah. Can you stop sending me verification code too🐥: Stop it🐰: We know you already know all our info🐥: Stop it, we got no more info left to leak so stop it just stopp🐥: Stop calling too This incident follows a recent case involving Jungkook, who became a victim of sasaeng behaviour when a Chinese fan allegedly attempted to break into his home on the very day he was discharged from the military. Jungkook's shoutout to K-Pop Demon Hunters After RM caused a stir at the Netflix headquarters by casually mentioning Soda Pop from K-pop Demon Hunters during their last live, fans were quick to pick up on another subtle nod in Jungkook and Jimin's recent stream. At one point, Jungkook was caught humming Soda Pop, sparking even more curiosity. While he didn't comment on it directly, the moment didn't go unnoticed by fans, who now believe that Jungkook and RM might share similar taste when it comes to music picks from upcoming projects. Given the buzz around K-pop Demon Hunters, even a small reference like this was enough to get ARMY talking. jungkook singing soda pop !!! ‹𝟹 Other chaotic moments from the Jikook live included them just giggling and mimicking and trolling V. The accuracy 😂😂 🐥: if taehyung was here, he would've come right away🐰: then, i can feel the brand name (?)i think they're referencing the 2021 vminkook live when tae kept accidentally saying brand names 😭 Taehyung goes live separately Right after Jimin and Jungkook wrapped up their live, V (Kim Taehyung) went live separately to spend some time with fans. He shared that he had stepped out to grab a bite, and by the time he got back, their live had already ended. Chatting casually, Taehyung admitted that he misses ARMY but added with a smile that it felt a bit too direct to just come out and say it plainly. TAEHYUNG IS SO SILLY, I LOVE HIM 😭😭🫶 🐻: Come on~ I can't just say 'I missed ARMY' like that~ 🐻: That's way too direct! 🐻: *gets shy* Aww I cannot~~ Earlier today, Jimin shared a few candid photos of himself taken by RM during a casual stroll around the city. Around the same time, RM posted a carousel of his own with the caption "me cook (yes america)," teasing his work on BTS's next album. Meanwhile, Jin is currently in Japan for the latest stop on his #RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR, while J-Hope recently took the stage as a headliner at Lollapalooza Berlin. Superman Worldwide Weekend Box Office: James Gunn and David Corenswet's superhero film flies high with a USD 217 million global start
The new Superman movie directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult, has taken a flight at the box office, pulling in an impressive USD 217 million worldwide during its opening weekend. This strong debut signals a promising return for the iconic DC Comics superhero, who has faced challenges in winning back fans after a rocky few years for the franchise in terms of public reception. Superman Debuts With A USD 217 Million Global Start; A Strong Number For The Film's Budget With a production budget estimated between USD 200-225 million, Superman is already on its path to profitability. It needs around USD 450 million to break even when factoring in marketing and other costs. Beyond ticket sales, the movie is expected to rake in substantial revenue from non-theatrical sources like streaming, home video, and merchandise. Superman Scores Domestically; Slightly Underwhelms Internationally The opening weekend was driven by a robust performance in the United States, where Superman grossed a commanding USD 122 million. This domestic haul reflects strong audience enthusiasm, with fans flocking to theatres to see the Man of Steel's latest big-screen adventure. Overseas markets, however, told a different story. The international box office contributed USD 95 million to the global total, an underwhelming figure compared to expectations. While the film performed decently in Latin America, India and few other Asian countries, it struggled elsewhere. Superman Is On Track For A USD 550 - 600 Million Global Gross Superman is on track for a worldwide final gross of USD 550-600 million, a solid achievement for a DC Comics film in today's competitive market. This range positions the movie as a success, especially considering the franchise's recent struggles to connect with audiences. The DC brand has faced criticism for uneven films in the past, but Superman seems to be striking a chord with its blend of heart, action, and a fresh take on the classic hero. Positive word-of-mouth and favorable reviews should help sustain its performance in the coming weeks. Superman In Theatres Superman plays in theatres now. You can book your tickets for the movie from online ticketing applications, or from the box office. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates
