The company's modifications to the Porsche 911 rival run deep, including a heavy update of AMG's twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It has been enlarged from 4.0 to 4.5 litres, plus two new turbochargers with higher boost pressures have been fitted.
However, the car's headline power figure isn't derived from just a V8 engine, because Brabus has based the 1000 on the GT 63 S E Performance, which pairs a 197bhp electrified rear axle with the traditional petrol engine. As such, this would mean the V8 engine develops around 800bhp in order to create the total output of 1000hp (987bhp), from which the car's name is derived.
This is the same powertrain used in the four-door Brabus Rocket 1000, which produces 1,820Nm of torque. However, to protect the nine-speed automatic transmission, it is limited to 'only' 1,620Nm in the new model.
Brabus quotes a 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds for the 1000, which is about 0.2 seconds faster than the AMG model it's based on, and its top speed is electronically limited to 198mph.
The 1000 also features a range of styling upgrades, most of which are made from carbon fibre. These include new splitters, spoilers and wings, while the grille also features new inserts on either side, plus there's a new set of staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels.
There's no detail on any updates to the chassis, aside from a new height-adjustable suspension. How this works with AMG's hydraulically-interconnected dampers, if they are still fitted, remains to be seen. Brabus has also been busy inside the car, reupholstering much of the cabin and replacing many of the existing trim pieces with either gloss carbon or red anodised aluminium.

This development surprised us, because we anticipated that a flagship SUV concept would signal their entry there. We should still look forward to the new car coming to the UK market though. Cupra is set to bring its smallest EV yet – the Raval – to Munich. Just as the existing Born and Tavascan did, we expect the production version of the Raval to stay true to the concept's design with typically Cupra-like aggressive styling cues. These will set it apart from its sister model, the Volkswagen ID.2, which will also be at the show. Instead of having rear-wheel drive like the Born, the Raval will be front-wheel drive and it'll sit on Volkswagen's new MEB Entry platform for EVs. Expect a hot Raval VZ to join the line-up later on. It'll be related to Kia's EV2, which we've already seen in concept form, so the Ioniq 2 is likely to use the same E-GMP architecture as the larger Kia EV3. Expect the Bayon-sized EV to kick off at around the £25,000 mark when it launches in the UK next year as a rival to the new Renault 4 EV. It'll sit alongside Mercedes' most popular global model – the combustion-engined GLC – as an all-electric alternative, and thanks to several spy shots we already have a good idea of how it'll look. It'll use the firm's new platform, which enables 800V architecture for what will surely be a huge improvement on the EQC's 255-mile maximum range. Mercedes got our minds racing recently when it released several images of a cloaked sports car. Called the AMG GT Track Sport, this concept will stay true to its name with performance dedicated to lap times rather than on-road thrills. It will 'preview a possible expansion of the GT series with a V8 engine' according to Mercedes-AMG, which we think will be an indirect successor to the old AMG GT Black Series. While the AMG GT Track Sport will be a celebration of AMG's V8 power, the AMG GT XX is a more future-thinking concept. A show car that highlights Mercedes-AMG's next-generation electric technology, this EV isn't focused on range and efficiency. Instead, brute power takes centre stage, thanks to four electric motors developed by British company Yasa. We'll see the Cayenne EV at Munich for the first time, although spy shots have shown we should expect a similar design to the Macan. The Cayenne EV will also use the new PPE platform so expect a battery capacity of around 100kWh, dual motors and active suspension taken from the Panamera. Latest Porsche deals The sixth-generation Clio is almost upon us and thanks to several spy shots we mostly know what Europe's second most-popular car will look like already. A five-door-only bodystyle will remain, but the Clio is set for a more aggressive front-end design. Latest Renault Clio deals While the Epiq's attendance at Munich is yet to be confirmed, the timeline for the development of Skoda's new small EV suggests it'll be there. We expect the Epiq to bring plenty of the brand's 'Modern Solid' design language, which is shared with our 2025 Car of the Year, the Elroq. Skoda is bringing a new show car to Munich called the Vision O and while not much is known about it, we expect it to show us what an all-electric replacement for the Octavia could look like. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below An electric Octavia isn't set to hit the market until 2027, but it'll sit on Volkswagen Group's all-new Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), which is designed to replace the MEB architecture that is currently used by the Skoda Enyaq and Elroq. Latest Skoda deals Volkswagen has given us plenty of official teasers for its ID.2 - not least last year's ID.2all concept. The Polo-sized EV will sit below the ID.3 and use VW's new MEB Entry platform with pricing expected to start at around £23,000, making it a fresh rival to the Renault 5. We should see an SUV-inspired variant of the ID.2 in Munich as well. Sitting on the same MEB Entry architecture, the ID.2 X crossover should come with a choice of 38kWh and 58kWh batteries, and a range of up to around 280 miles. Thanks to leaked images, we know what the new T-Roc will look like for the most part. The wraps will come off the production car at Munich, however, giving us all a first look at the second-generation model. Underneath, the T-Roc will sit on the MQB evo platform used by the facelifted Mk8.5 Golf, so as well as a brand-new full-hybrid powertrain, the Golf's 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines should also be offered. George Russell claim made as 'painful' Toto Wolff contract tactics emerge – 'He blanked me'
George Russell is expected to put pen to paper on a new Mercedes deal shortly, despite Toto Wolff's "avoiding blue ticks" strategy when it comes to contract negotiations Nico Rosberg believes George Russell will shortly sign a new Mercedes contract despite Toto Wolff 's "painful" approach to negotiating. Russell's future with the Brackley team has been the subject of speculation over the past year or so, with his current deal, signed in the summer of 2023, due to run out when the 2025 F1 campaign ends. With only months remaining, the British driver finds himself without a new contract as things stand. The 27-year-old had previously hinted his deal was being held up because Mercedes were in discussions with Max Verstappen, with suggestions that Wolff was trying to lure the four-time world champion away from Red Bull. Yet, Russell has received a boost from Verstappen's decision to stick with Red Bull until the end of 2026, in light of Christian Horner's dismissal as team boss. Wolff suggested that a new deal for Russell could be finalised ahead of the summer break, once this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix wraps up. Reports have now emerged stating that Russell is on the verge of securing a multi-year deal with the Silver Arrows, possibly until the end of the 2027 season, which would see him partner teenager Kimi Antonelli for the foreseeable future. That's a view that Sky Sports F1 pundit Rosberg - who raced for Mercedes from 2010 to 2016 - shares. Rosberg also reflected on his own unpleasant experiences with Wolff, giving an insight into the Austrian's tough negotiation tactics while he was trying to secure a new contract at Mercedes. The 2016 F1 world champion told Sky Sports' F1 Show: 'It's definitely not a comfortable situation for George because he would like to have it done and dusted. In my experience, dealing with Toto for contract negotiations is a little bit painful because he just disappears off planet Earth when you're trying to get hold of him. 'That's his strategy to strengthen his negotiating position - just to disappear. But now that Max's [situation] is done, maybe things will move pretty quickly actually.' The German had said earlier: 'If you're George now trying to get hold of him, Toto's already gone. He even knows how to avoid the blue ticks. 'As soon as your message pops up on his screen, he'll only read the first few words and won't even open it properly. I remember that well from my time – it was always his style: vanish, don't reply, be unreachable. And that's horrible, because it gives you no chance.' While Wolff has publicly said he is committed to both Russell and his current team-mate Antonelli for the 2026 season, a prospective multi-year deal for the Brit keeps alive the possibility of him being paired with Verstappen at a later date. That's despite many viewing the pairing as unrealistic due to their high-profile spats on and off the track. But, for now, Mercedes are finally content with Russell as their No. 1 driver, thanks to him delivering his most consistent and complete F1 campaign to date this year. He won the Canadian Grand Prix and has outscored Antonelli 157 points to 63, while achieving four more podium finishes. When asked by Sky Sports F1 if the contract delay was fuelling Russell's impressive form, Wolff replied: "As a driver, he's so mature and stable that I don't think that makes any difference on performance. 'On the contrary, I would wish to have him in a safe place a little bit earlier. We haven't managed to do that but I'm optimistic that he's going to sleep well over the summer break."

Max Verstappen: Public statement issued as decision made on quitting Red Bull
Max Verstappen has decided to remain with Red Bull for the 2026 season, with the Dutchman reportedly having an exit clause in his contract if he wanted to leave Helmut Marko has confirmed that Max Verstappen will remain with Red Bull next season after the Dutchman chose to stick with his long-standing team. The four-time Formula 1 champion attracted attention from Mercedes, but decided against making the switch from Milton Keynes to Brackley in 2026. Verstappen's choice reportedly came over the course of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, where he secured an unlikely Sprint race triumph before a fourth-placed finish behind the McLaren pair and Charles Leclerc during the main event on Sunday. According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Verstappen feels 'comfortable' with Red Bull's current setup and has been encouraged by his initial work with new team principal Laurent Mekies. The Frenchman took over after Christian Horner was axed after 20 years in charge. Even had Verstappen wished to depart Red Bull in 2025, any separation would have proved complicated. The current world champion's release clause would only have been triggered if he sat fourth or below in the drivers' championship by the summer break, but his performance at Spa-Francorchamps guarantees him third position. For the moment, however, the rumours can be put to rest. Speaking to in the Belgian GP paddock, Marko made it clear that he does not expect the team's star driver to be going anywhere before the 2026 season. "Yes, I can confirm that Max Verstappen will drive for Red Bull in 2026," he declared. This decision carries significant implications for his competitors as well, not least Mercedes who were the team most strongly linked with the Dutchman, if he decided to make a fresh start. With his main rival now out of the picture, George Russell is anticipated to pledge his long-term future to the Silver Arrows. Team boss Toto Wolff had previously left the door ajar for Verstappen, but with that option now off the table, contract discussions can move forward. A report from the Daily Mail following the Belgian GP suggests that Russell is nearing a multi-year extension worth £30million annually. This would place him amongst the highest-paid drivers on the grid, trailing only Verstappen and former team-mate Lewis Hamilton. It's difficult to dispute that the reported pay rise is anything but merited. Russell matched Hamilton stride for stride during their three years as team-mates, and has matured into the reliable team leader that Wolff had envisaged him becoming. Whether his Mercedes team-mate will achieve similar success is yet to be determined. Kimi Antonelli's debut season has been a story of two halves so far, and the Italian teenager is facing mounting pressure after six scoreless finishes in seven Grand Prix races. The 18-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and, unlike his team-mate Russell, there are currently no reports suggesting a new deal is imminent right now.
