The dramatic final day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford delivered not just a hard-fought draw but also a series of fiery moments — from England's appeal for a mutual draw, to India's batters batting on and declining early handshakes, to visible tension in the final exchanges.
After India's spirited fightback which saw them recovering from 0/2 with centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and an unbeaten 101* from Washington Sundar, emotions ran high on both sides. While the cricketing effort drew praise, it was a post-match moment involving

Multiple clips circulated online claimed the England captain refused to shake hands with Jadeja and Sundar, supposedly in response to the pair declining an early draw and continuing to bat through the final session.

However, a closer look puts the speculation to rest. Video evidence posted on X clearly shows Stokes offering a handshake to Jadeja after the day's play. The interaction was brief, almost fleeting, as Stokes quickly moved past the Indian batters, but it did happen.
So, did Ben Stokes snub a handshake? The answer is no.
The 2-1 series scoreline in England's favour remains unchanged after the draw, but the emotional moments from the Old Trafford finish are likely to spill into the final Test at The Oval. With all to play for and tempers simmering, the decider promises more high-stakes drama. The final Test of the five-match series will commence on July 31.

Will Shubman Gill Replace Rohit Sharma As India Captain In ODI Cricket? Mohammad Kaif Says THIS

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has backed Shubman Gill to take over the ODI captaincy when Rohit Sharma decides to step down as the skipper in the format. Notably, Rohit, who is currently 38, will be approaching 40 by the start of the 2027 ODI World Cup and Kaif is not sure how long the veteran India opener would continue in the 50-over format. "He [Gill] will get the ODI captaincy as well because we don't know how long Rohit Sharma will continue as captain. Gill is ready to take over. He scores in white-ball. He has performed well as captain here in Tests and led from the front," Kaif said on his YouTube channel. "When you go with a young team, you have to do both things – score with the bat and do well as captain. A brilliant tour for him overall," he added. During the recently concluded England series which India drew 2-2, Gill was tested as a captain and he passed that flying colours. "Shubman Gill, as captain, created opportunities with both hands in this series. When he became captain, there were many questions as to why he was made captain, looking at his Test record. A young captain reached England under a lot of pressure with a young team. He answered with his bat and it came to a point where he was compared to breaking Sir Don Bradman's record. Such a strong comeback with the bat," Kaif said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ꮪhubman Gill (@shubmangill) After the gruelling 25 days of Test cricket, Team India will get a well-deserved break, with no Test or limited-over matches scheduled until the Asia Cup 2025, which starts in September. It's a rare lengthy break for the Indian cricket team and fans will have to wait for some time to see their favourite stars in action.

He visited the team, passed a physical, and now joins the roster quietly but with real meaning for the team's depth in the quarterback room. This move came as backup Michael Pratt remains out injured and starter Baker Mayfield missed time with a hand issue. What it means and why it matters for Tampa Bay. Teddy Bridgewater Signs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers According to reports from the NFL Network and ESPN, 32‑year‑old Teddy Bridgewater agreed to a one‑year contract after visiting Tampa, finishing a workout, and passing a medical check on Tuesday morning. — nfl (@nfl) Teddy Bridgewater had been coaching at Miami Northwestern High School in Florida, but was suspended in July over alleged improper benefits to players. He previously left the Detroit Lions after the 2023‑24 season without throwing a regular-season pass since 2022 with the Miami Dolphins. Why the signing matters now for Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht explained the team needed a veteran arm behind Mayfield and while Michael Pratt is out with a back injury. Bowles described Bridgewater as 'a pro's pro' who brings needed experience to the position. Licht noted the team had evaluated him back in 2020 as a possible backup if Tom Brady had not signed with Tampa Bay. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Foods That Can Lower Your Blood Pressure Undo Teddy Bridgewater played in the NFL for ten seasons with six different teams, including the Vikings, Saints, Panthers, Broncos, Dolphins, and Lions. "Disappointed" - Trae Young left waiting as Atlanta Hawks' silence on extension sparks NBA outrage (Image Source: Getty Images) Ever since Trae Young joined the NBA , the Atlanta Hawks point guard has been a vital player for the team. Famous for his precise shooting and court leadership, he has usually been seen as the franchise's face. Many players have been given extensions or long-term agreements as free agency discussions get increasingly intense throughout the league. Unlike others, one name is drawing attention — not for a deal, but for the lack of one. The Atlanta Hawks have yet to offer contract extension to star guard Trae Young On August 5, veteran NBA reporter Marc J. Spears revealed that the Atlanta Hawks have still not offered Trae Young a contract extension. This news was first shared on The Hoop Collective podcast and later cited by @TheDunkCentral on X. Trae Young, who was drafted by the Hawks in 2018 and became a two-time All-Star, is reportedly unhappy with the current situation. Spears said, 'He's disappointed that it hasn't come,' referring to the absence of a new deal. Young still has two years remaining on his current contract, but most stars of his level usually get approached for an extension earlier. The 26-year-old has averaged over 25 points and 9 assists per game over the last three seasons and led Atlanta to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo Despite his performance, the front office has remained quiet on talks for the future. No official statement has been released by the Hawks so far. The gap between Trae Young's hopes and the Atlanta Hawks' actions The update from Spears comes during a quiet offseason for Atlanta, which finished 10th in the Eastern Conference last season and lost in the play-in tournament. The team is currently focused on improving its roster around Trae Young, but contract talks seem to have taken a back seat. According to Marc J. Spears, who spoke on August 4, Young's camp was expecting a signal of commitment from the franchise by now. He added, 'Trae wants to feel wanted. He's given a lot to Atlanta, and he's just waiting for them to show the same in return.' Sources with close team contacts claim no significant contract extension conversations have yet taken place. Young's present agreement will expire in the 2026–27 season, thus the summer of 2025 is a perfect starting point for negotiations.
