OnePlus mini tablet tipped to launch in 2026 with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

OnePlus may be planning a compact tablet for 2026, and it could be a lot more powerful than you'd expect. Rumours suggest the device — possibly called the OnePlus Pad 3 Mini, when it is released in India — is currently in the prototype stage. If the leaks are accurate, it will come with Qualcomm's next-gen flagship chip, rumoured to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. That's the same processor expected to power the next-gen top-tier phones from the likes of Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi in 2026. While the tablet's release is still months away, the possibility of a smaller OnePlus tablet with such high-end performance will definitely generate interest among fans and device has been described as a 'small tablet,' which in tablet terms typically refers to something measuring under 9 or 10 inches. According to Digital Chat Station, via Weibo, the screen size could likely be around 8.8 inches. That puts it in the same size category as multimedia-focused tablets from brands like Lenovo, such as the Tab M8. Although it's an 8-inch budget tablet, and this right here — the OnePlus mini tablet — is being touted as a top-tier Android if this mini tablet comes to fruition from OnePlus, a device like this would be easier to handle and better suited for gaming or media consumption on the go. Of course, performance is a key talking point here. The rumoured Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip is expected to bring serious power to the table, and pairing that with a smaller screen could make for a very fast, compact device. It's not the first time OnePlus has packed strong hardware into its tablets — the recently launched OnePlus Pad 3, for example, also features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. But so far, even the brand's budget tablet options, such as the OnePlus Pad Go, haven't dipped below 11 inches, so this Mini version would be a also talk of Oppo releasing its own version of the same tablet — not surprising given how closely the two brands work. If true, it wouldn't be the first time the same hardware gets launched under different names and a tweaked design in different this tablet, OnePlus is expected to launch a new phone in China — the OnePlus 15T. It's rumoured to have a 6.3-inch screen and flagship specs, including the same Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. Reports also hint at a larger battery and possible improvements to the camera things go to plan, both the OnePlus mini tablet and the OnePlus 15T could make their debut in the first half of 2026. Since the tablet is still a prototype, it's unclear when or if it will reach the final production stage — but there's definitely something in the works. Similarly, there's no clarity about whether these products will only launch in China or whether the company will launch them in China and worldwide (including India) simultaneously.- Ends
