Tesla To Open Delhi Showroom On August 11; Check Exact Location

Tesla, the US-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to open its second showroom in Delhi on August 11. It follows the inaugural showroom of the brand in India opened in Mumbai's BKC on July 15. The latest dealership of the brand will be located at Worldmark, Aerocity, close to the New Delhi International Airport. Once it begins operations, the carmaker will be able to serve consumers in Delhi and the national capital region. The Tesla Model Y was recently launched in the Indian market. On the same day, the official Indian website for the automaker went live. Initially, customers could only register their vehicles in Mumbai, New Delhi, and Gurugram. However, this has been updated, allowing users to register their cars in any state or union territory across the nation. In simpler terms, prospective buyers can now book and register their Tesla vehicles in their states. Moreover, the website mentions that the on-road prices may differ due to various factors. It also highlights that customers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram will have priority for deliveries. Once the process is complete, the vehicle will be delivered directly to the consumer's location via a flat-bed truck. Although self-driving features can be obtained in India for Rs 6 lakh, this capability will be rolled out at a later time. The manufacturer has released both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and long-range RWD versions of the car in India. The entry price for the RWD model is Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range version is available for Rs 67.89 lakh. Consequently, the on-road cost for the RWD variant totals Rs 61.07 lakh, whereas the on-road price for the long-range version is Rs 69.15 lakh. In India, the rear-wheel drive version of the Tesla Model Y can be opted for with either a 60 kWh or a larger 75 kWh battery pack. The RWD variant features a single electric motor that produces around 295 hp. Furthermore, the 60 kWh battery is claimed to provide a WLTP range of 500 km when fully charged, while the long-range model is said to achieve a range of 622 km.

A look at the last 5 cloudbursts in Uttarakhand as Dharali faces flash floods

At least four people died and several remain missing after a cloudburst triggered flash floods and a debris slide in Dharali village near Kheer Gad in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Located just 10 km from the popular tourist spot Harshil in Uttarkashi district, the area was struck by sudden torrential rainfall that caused severe disruption. Multiple rescue teams, including personnel from the Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Department, and local police, are engaged in extensive relief and evacuation operations. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that evacuation efforts were underway on a priority basis. 'The government is closely monitoring the situation. All necessary resources have been deployed,' he said. This latest incident adds to a growing list of extreme weather events that have struck the hill state in recent years, particularly during the monsoon. Just over a month ago, a cloudburst struck near the Yamunotri National Highway, triggering a landslide that destroyed workers' shelters. Two labourers were killed, and seven were reported missing. The Chardham Yatra was suspended for a day, and several roads were blocked across the region. Authorities had issued a red alert in multiple districts. A devastating cloudburst hit the Kedarnath Valley, resulting in flash floods and landslides last year in August. The situation was so severe that pilgrim movement was halted temporarily. The heavy rainfall led to multiple casualties and reminded people of the catastrophic floods in 2013. The Ghansali area witnessed a tragic cloudburst in which two people died and their son was injured after their eatery near the Nautar stream was washed away. Additionally, a cloudburst near the Bhim Bali stream caused landslides that damaged a 25-metre stretch of the Kedarnath walking path, temporarily stranding around 200 pilgrims. A cloudburst at the Khotila village, situated near the India-Nepal border, caused a flash flood on the Indian side of the Kali river. The sudden surge in water inundated homes with debris and mud, killing a local resident, Pashupati Devi. Cloudburst-related rainfall caused rivers to overflow in parts of Dehradun, Tehri, and Pauri. The Raipur-Kumalda region saw bridges collapse, while water entered the sacred Tapkeshwar temple caves along the Tons river. The Song river bridge was washed away and popular tourist spots like Kempty Falls saw dangerously high water levels. SDRF teams relocated residents from multiple affected villages.

India, US 'actively involved' in trade talks: Govt a day after MEA rebuke

Hours after issuing a strong response to the United States' (US) threat of additional tariffs, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday said that it is actively involved in the discussions with the US, with the aim of expanding trade and investment. "Government of India is actively involved in the discussions on the India-USA Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the Government of the United States with the aim to expand trade and investment and deepening the India-US trade relationship to promote growth that ensures fairness, national security and job creation," said Jitin Prasada, minister of state for Commerce & Industry, in response to a question by Lok Sabha member Kodikunnil Suresh. He added that the Centre has held five rounds of talks with the US between March and July 2025. The next round of talks is scheduled later this month in India. This follows a scathing response from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) a day earlier to US President Donald Trump's threat of higher tariffs on Indian goods for importing Russian oil. The MEA labeled Trump's criticism as 'unjustified and unreasonable,' stating that India's energy relations with Russia are based on national necessity and remain significantly smaller than Russia's trade with Western countries. 'It is revealing that the very nations criticising India are themselves indulging in trade with Russia. Unlike our case, such trade is not even a vital national compulsion," the MEA said in a statement on Monday. Agricultural safeguards Suresh also asked a question about the Centre's assessment of the proposed free trade agreement's (FTA) impact on small farmers, and steps to protect India's agricultural interests. Responding to it, the minister said that international trade negotiations allow for the inclusion of sensitive, negative, or exclusion lists—categories of goods on which limited or no tariff concessions are granted. "In addition, in case of surge in imports and injury to the domestic industry, a country is allowed to take recourse to trade remedial measures such as anti-dumping and safeguards on imports within the periods as mutually agreed to by the parties under FTAs," he added.
