Princess Cruises adds new cruise package perks, raises prices
Although many travelers appreciate that cruises offer a more inclusive type of vacation that transports you to a different destination each day with onboard meals and accommodations included, most cruises are not truly all-inclusive.
On most cruise lines, you'd need to purchase a few add-on packages for things like drinks, Wi-Fi, and specialty dining to make your cruise actually feel all-inclusive.
Some cruise lines try to simplify these add-ons for their passengers, however, allowing them to enjoy more and get more out of their cruise experience through bundled packages that offer the most desired cruise add-ons for one price.Princess Cruises does this remarkably well with its cruise packages, Princess Plus and Princess Premier, which pack a lot of cruise extras and value into their bundles.
And now, the cruise line is refreshing those popular packages to give passengers even more of what they've been asking for — enhancing their inclusions to add highly requested items.
Although passengers probably won't be happy that the package prices are going up and some benefits are going away, they will get more value included with the enhanced packages. Princess says that passengers can save 50-70% compared to purchasing all the items separately, depending on the package they select and length of their cruise.

Princess Cruises adds new benefits to Plus and Premier packages
On sale beginning July 22 and available for voyages sailing in 2026 and beyond, the newly enhanced Princess Plus Package will include more casual dining meals while the updated Princess Premier Package will add a shore excursion credit.
But along with adding these requested items, Princess is removing certain package features that passengers use less — such as premium desserts, juice bar access, Medallion shipping, fitness classes, and Princess prizes. With the enhanced Plus Package, passengers will get two more casual dining meals per cruise, for a total of four. The package still includes the Plus Beverage Package, single device Wi-Fi, fees waived for OceanNow and room service delivery, and daily crew appreciation (gratuities).
With the enhanced Premier Package, passengers will get a new shore excursion credit, varying by voyage length: $100 (6–9 days), $200 (10–20 days), and up to $300 for voyages of 21+ days. The package still includes an unlimited Premier Beverage Package, unlimited casual and specialty dining, four device Wi-Fi, fees waived for OceanNow and room service delivery, unlimited digital professional photos, reserved seating for theatrical shows, and daily crew appreciation.

Princess Cruises raises prices for Plus and Premier packages
With the new updates to the packages, the cost to add one of the packages to your cruise will raise by $5 – $10 per passenger, per day.
For the Princess Plus Package, pre-cruise pricing will increase from $60 to $65 per person, per day. For the Princess Premier Package, pre-cruise pricing will increase from $90 to $100 per person, per day.
Additionally, for new Sphere class ships, Sun Princess and Star Princess, passengers will pay an additional $5 more per day — pre-cruise pricing will be $70 per person, per day for the Princess Plus Package and $105 per person, per day for the Princess Premier Package.
When purchased on board or within three days of departure, both packages cost an additional $5 per passenger, per day.Princess Cruises says the package updates are part of a commitment to continually improving its offerings based on passenger feedback.
"By thoughtfully evolving our packages, we're ensuring they reflect what our guests truly desire, more flexibility, enhanced culinary experiences, and opportunities to explore ashore, all the while retaining the exceptional benefits they've come to expect," said Alfredo Jimenez, Princess Cruises Vice President, Onboard Revenue. "Ultimately, it's about delivering an even more rewarding and personalized vacation experience."

Norwegian Cruise Line leaves passengers behind amid tsunami scare
Norwegian Cruise Line leaves passengers behind amid tsunami scare originally appeared on TravelHost. If you've ever wondered what cruise ships do when there's a tsunami, you can get your answer by looking at how cruise lines handled the alarming wave activity that radiated across the Pacific Ocean on July 29. A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake occurred off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, sending a tsunami across the Pacific that triggered tsunami warnings for Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, and even the U.S. West Coast. Despite what many people may think, cruise ships are actually safest at sea during a tsunami. In deep ocean waters, tsunami wave effects are minimal because of their long wavelengths. When tsunamis reach shallow water close to shorelines, they slow down and their wavelengths decrease, which causes them to grow tall and of that, when a tsunami warning is issued, cruise ships that are docked must leave port to sail safely away from the threat of incoming monster waves that could damage the ship and put passenger and crew safety at risk. Tsunami waves move extremely quickly in deep oceans, so when a tsunami warning was issued for Hawaii while Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America was docked in Hilo and passengers were ashore, the captain faced a serious dilemma. The ship needed to leave port early to be out of harm's way before the tsunami arrived, but that would mean leaving behind passengers who couldn't make it back to the ship in time. Doug Parker shared more details on what happened as Norwegian's Pride of America set sail to steer clear of the tsunami's threat, and other cruise news, on the July 30 edition of Cruise News Cruise Line leaves passengers ashore amid Hawaii tsunami warning Cruise News Today Transcript: This is Cruise News Today with Doug Parker. Good morning, here's your cruise news for Wednesday, July 30th. A massive earthquake off of Russia's coast triggered tsunami warnings on Tuesday across the Pacific, forcing cruise ships in Hawaii to depart early. Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America left Hilo ahead of schedule, stranding guests like Jeffrey Booker of Orlando. Everyone back to the ship, fast as you can. The ship's leaving at 3:30, but we knew at that point we were going to make staff and passengers that were left behind were told to shelter onto higher ground and wait for more information from the cruise line. Oceania Cruises' Regatta also departed early from Kona. Hawaii's warnings were eventually downgraded early Wednesday morning. It should be noted that in an event of a tsunami, you're actually safer on a cruise ship than on land. We reached out to NCL for comment about guests that were left ashore. Carnival Cruise Line rep confronts Celebration Key critics
Carnival Cruise Line rep confronts Celebration Key critics originally appeared on TravelHost. Carnival Cruise Line's new exclusive cruise destination on Grand Bahama Island, Celebration Key, has been generating a lot of buzz on social media — and not just because there seems to be an abundance of bees on the resort property. Whether they visited the destination during its opening days, are booked on upcoming cruises to the new port, or they post about trending cruise topics on social media, cruisers have much to say about Celebration brand ambassador, John Heald, who runs a very popular Facebook page, has been a vital source of information about Celebration Key and what visitors can expect during their cruises there. He's been eager for passengers to experience Celebration Key for themselves on many upcoming Carnival cruises, and also for them to ignore the cruise critics and inevitable complainers, who he calls Mr. and Mrs. Glitterknickers. Heald addressed those cruise critics in a July 23 post on his Facebook page. Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter to save money on your next (or your first) cruise. Carnival Cruise Line rep challenges Celebration Key critics Heald began his post by assuring passengers that the many questions and concerns they raised to him about Celebration Key in the days since its opening are receiving the proper attention. 'I am checking on the pool floats and what you can bring to the resort,' he noted. 'And to the many who had some concerns about bees, I promise the island management are aware and are taking care of this accordingly.' Heald also confronted the criticism that's been circulating on social media about Celebration Key. 'There are those on social media who drive me and probably some of you absolutely bonkers. These [TikTokers] and [YouTubers] do not seem to understand this is not an out island, it's a private resort in Grand Bahama. We proudly employ 1500 Bahamians to serve you. Out islands, like Half Moon Cay, operate with ships' food and crew,' he brand ambassador also expressed his frustration with the many cruisers who have complained that Carnival doesn't include unlimited food with a visit to Celebration Key, comparing it other cruise lines' private islands, which typically serve a complimentary barbecue buffet-style lunch that's brought from the ship. Rather than enjoying as much lunch as they want, Carnival passengers visiting Celebration Key get a meal credit to redeem at one of the resort's food trucks and fast-casual dining venues. 'And a few have posted that 'one free meal is not enough.' Ummmmm, OK, but let me ask you this, Mr. and Mrs. Glitterknickers: When do you get meal credits when you go to Cozumel, or Grand Turk, or at any port of call,' Heald defended. Many Carnival cruisers say Celebration Key exceeds expectations Despite what the cruise line's relentless critics have posted, many Carnival passengers who visited Celebration Key during its first days shared rave reviews. Heald highlighted a few of those in his Facebook post. The comments on most of the brand ambassador's recent posts about Celebration Key are full of passenger praise for the new Carnival cruise destination. 'We had an amazing day at Celebration Key on its opening day on the Vista! Everything was perfect —chairs, umbrellas, food, swing bar, pool and the workers could not have done more or been nicer,' Linda Sharpe D'Alessandro passengers noted that they were unsure about cruising to the destination thanks to social media critics, but Celebration Key won them over in a big way. 'I'm on the Glory right now. I was a little worried with all the negative Nancys out there, but Celebration Key exceeded my expectation. This is my new favorite place,' Leah MB commented on another Celebration Key post. The warmth of the Bahamian staff at Celebration Key has been a key theme in comments from visitors. The destination's opening invigorated and brought hundreds of jobs to Grand Bahama, an island that was devastated by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. 'It's really good to see this completed. I remember visiting Freeport six years ago and that hurricane just tore up so much of the island. I remember the locals saying how much the damage was. It affected them locally. So, to see the island prosper is great,' Vikki Shelton noted about Celebration Key's impact on Grand Bahama.(The Arena Group will earn a commission if you book a cruise.) , or email Amy Post at or call or text her at 386-383-2472.
