Child exploitation by drug gangs laid bare on TV
The issue is featured on 24 Hours in Police Custody on Channel 4 on Sunday, under the title Lost Boys.
Bedfordshire Police's search for a missing child becomes an investigation into a drug dealing involving the grooming of young boys.
Gary Hales, investigation officer, said: "This is a really powerful episode which we hope encourages parents and carers to be alert to signs of exploitation and report any concerns to us."
Police said following the missing person report, officers raided a house believed to be linked to drugs supply.
During the investigation they identified people believed to be responsible for running a county drugs line and grooming young boys into carrying out drugs deals.
Last month, Bedfordshire Police launched its Lost Boys campaign which aims to educate parents, carers and young people about the signs of criminal exploitation and the consequences of becoming involved in illegal drug activity.
They said these could be signs someone was involved in county lines activities:
Repeatedly going missing from school or home and being found in other areas
Having money, new clothes or electronic devices but they cannot explain how they paid for them
Getting high numbers of texts or phone calls, and being secretive about who they are speaking to
A decline in school or work performance
Significant changes in emotional or physical well-being
Mr Hales said: "This episode clearly shows how young people, and boys in particular, can be groomed and used by drugs gangs.
"The problem is that often they don't realise they are being exploited and that they are victims until it is too late.
"We're not here to criminalise young people who are victims themselves.
"As this episode shows we're interested in finding out who those people are at the very top of the drugs line and ensuring they are brought to justice.
"The exploitation of young boys by county drugs lines is a real issue not only in Bedfordshire but across the country."

Pilots ‘waved to children before crashing into fireball'
The pilots of a plane that crashed in a 'fireball' waved at children shortly before the collision, a witness has said. Essex Police said they were alerted shortly before 4pm on Sunday to 'reports of a collision involving one 12-metre plane' at Southend Airport and that they remain on the scene of the 'serious incident'. Images posted on social media show a plume of fire and black smoke coming up from the crash site. John Johnson, who was at the airport with his children and wife, said he saw a 'big fireball' after the plane crashed 'head first into the ground'. Mr Johnson, from Billericay, told the PA news agency: 'We all waved at the pilots, and they all waved back at us. 'The aircraft then turned 180 degrees to face its take-off, departure, powered up, rolled down the runway. 'It took off and about three or four seconds after taking off, it started to bank heavily to its left, and then within a few seconds of that happening, it more or less inverted and crashed just head first into the ground. 'There was a big fireball. Obviously, everybody was in shock in terms of witnessing it. 'All the kids saw it and the families saw it. I phoned 999, reported it.' He added: 'I'd say that we're pretty shaken up. 'I just feel sad for the people who were on the plane and, of course, their loved ones and their family, our thoughts are with them.' A bartender at the golf club, which is next door to the airport, said he felt a 'big heat wave' before looking up to a 'massive fireball' in the sky. James Philpott told the BBC: 'I was just basically in a hut like in the middle of the course and I didn't even see any plane go down or anything and I just felt like a big heat wave come through and I looked up and there was just a massive fireball basically 100 foot in the sky. 'It was more the heat really just kind of hit me as I was sitting there, just like, feel like I'm baking.' He continued: 'I think everyone was just quite shocked to be honest. 'People were sort of running towards it to see if anyone was injured or anything.' Mr Philpott said he and others were collected from the course and taken back to the clubhouse where they remain now at a 'safe distance' with the club closed. In a statement, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: 'We were called to an incident involving a light aircraft at Southend Airport today at 3.58pm. 'Crews from Southend (two), Rayleigh Weir and Basildon (two), along with off road vehicles from Billericay and Chelmsford attended. 'We are continuing to work at the scene with our emergency services and aviation partners.' The East of England Ambulance Service said four ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, four hazardous area response team vehicles, three senior paramedic cars and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance have been sent to the incident. According to the airport's website, four flights scheduled to take off on Sunday afternoon have been cancelled. In a post on X, David Burton-Sampson, Labour MP for Southend West and Leigh, said: 'I am aware of an incident at Southend Airport. 'Please keep away and allow the emergency services to do their work. 'My thoughts are with everyone involved.' Matt Dent, Southend City Council's cabinet member for business, culture, music and tourism, said on X: 'I am aware of the live serious incident ongoing at London Southend Airport. 'At present all I know is that a small plane has crashed at the airport. My thoughts are with all those involved, and with the emergency services currently responding to the incident.' Essex Police said they remain on the scene alongside fire and ambulance services.

Island church's pots of sentimental value returned minutes before Sunday service
Just three minutes before Sunday service began, an Isle of Wight church had their plant pots returned after they had been stolen earlier in the week. On Tuesday (July 8), several plant pots of sentimental value were taken from outside Newport Congregational Church on Pyle Street. The pots, which were given to the church to honour a member who had died, were returned this morning (July 13), and restored to pride of place. "I easily could have gone to the police, but in my spirit, these pots would come back."

Four XL bullies seized by police after man injured in suspected dog attack
A man has been taken to hospital following a suspected dog attack in Bury. Police have seized four XL bullies following the attack on Rochdale Road, Pimhole on Sunday lunchtime. A police cordon was in place close to the junction with Tinline Street. A worker in a nearby takeaway described seeing a man with blood on clothes as emergency services arrived at the scene. Then a guy came in the shop to get two drinks. The police went inside a flat to check and then another guy walked in the ambulance, but he didn't have any blood on him and he looked normal. A Greater Manchester police spokesperson said: "At around 12.35pm this afternoon (Sunday), we were called to a suspected dog attack on Rochdale Road in Bury. Officers attended the scene and located a man in his 30s with non-life threatening/non-life changing injuries. No arrests have been made and four suspected XL bullies have been seized by officers from the Bury District." Meanwhile a four-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in a separate dog attack in Littleborough, Rochdale on Sunday morning. A dog, understood to be an American Akita, was seized by police following the attack on Hawkins Way at about 11am.
