Peyton Manning and Carrie Penner check in on high school helmet project
The Denver Broncos are making a big impact in 2025, on and off the field.
As part of the ALL IN. ALL COVERED. campaign, where the Broncos pledged to provide new Riddell helmets to all 277 Colorado high schools, Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and team co-owner Carrie Walton Penner took a tour of the Riddell facility to check on the progress of the project.
Manning and Penner were shown each step of the helmet-making process: picking, painting, decal application, packaging and shipping.
Penner was able to help paint a few of the helmets, while Manning helped with decal application.
While reviewing completed helmets for the Peyton Panthers, Manning poked fun at the name of the team. "Peyton Panthers, appropriately named because the Broncos beat the Panthers ten years ago in the Super Bowl," said Manning. "We're combining all these worlds. Peyton Pride, baby!"
You can watch the full video of Manning and Penner's visit below. You can read more about the team's helmet program on the team's official website.

NFL Turns Heads With Tuesday Message About Patrick Mahomes
NFL Turns Heads With Tuesday Message About Patrick Mahomes originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While training camp is still a few weeks away, it's already clear where Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' focus lies. Advertisement During a recent interview on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, released on Monday, Mahomes said, 'I feel like I've had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk, and I'm like, 'Let's just play football and handle it all out there.'' Mahomes and the Chiefs are still reeling from the sour taste left in their mouths after a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The defeat came just as Kansas City was on the verge of making NFL history with a potential third consecutive Lombardi Trophy. Instead, it was the Eagles who came out on top—and now the Chiefs must start from scratch in their quest to return to the big game. With Mahomes already dialed in, the NFL raised eyebrows with its latest post about the superstar quarterback on Tuesday. "Year 9 loading for @PatrickMahomes," NFL posted. Advertisement Fans quickly reacted to the post, which featured recent photos of Mahomes as he prepares to enter his ninth NFL season. "Top 5 ever but think his Super Bowl runs are over," a fan boldly said. Someone else added, "Patrick is the face of the NFL." Another person wrote, "Get ready for more magic, Year 9 is about to be unreal." "Yesss year 9 is gonna be one of his best years. I can feel it go, Patrick," one more fan commented. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (15).Denny Medley-Imagn Images Mahomes' 2024 campaign, statistically, wasn't up to his usual standard—though he remained the clutch quarterback he's always been since entering the league. He finished the season completing 67.5% of his passes for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Over the past two seasons, he's totaled 43 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions, which could suggest he's due for a big bounce-back year—especially with a revamped arsenal of weapons at his disposal. NFL Execs Crown Giants Star in Stunning Rankings Reveal
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. How did the New York Giants get here? We all know the answer to that question. It's only being asked for effect. A once-proud organization... Four Lombardi Trophies... At this rate, it feels it will be a while before the fifth is won. This was one of those organizations that was viewed among the model franchises, but that was a while ago. Dexter Lawrence II #97, New York Giants (Photo by) Dexter Lawrence II #97, New York Giants (Photo by) Photo byAnyone forced to endure this lull might forget that this is the same franchise that gave the world Bill Parcells and Lawrence Taylor. This organization is 2-0 vs. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but they haven't been able to shake one narrative that has followed them for quite some time. Must read: Conflicting Russell Wilson Reports Should Fuel Summertime Mayhem This is also the organization that let Saquon Barkley leave and win a Super Bowl with a division rival. The coming season approaches, and no one expects the Giants to climb out of the cellar in the NFC East division. When that's what a team wakes up hearing about itself and when there isn't much to cheer for, fans and the media will take good news anywhere they can find it. Who would have thought? Good news comes from the Worldwide Leader in sports. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler polled NFL executives, coaches, and scouts asking them to rank the game's top defensive tackles. Dexter Lawrence II landed atop the list. It isn't often that we hear the Giants being complimented, but this one is on time for fans of the G-Men. "I thought he should have been (Defensive Player of the Year) with the season he had. He's a true zero-technique nose who can occupy doubles and neutralize the run game. I think he took his pass rush to a different level, and I think he would have had double-digit sacks if (Brian) Burns and (Kayvon) Thibodeaux stayed healthy. A true three-down game wrecker who needs attention every single snap." Those were the words of an unnamed NFL executive. It's been a long time since we heard the Giants were the best at something, but this isn't any fluke. Lawrence could very well be the best in the game. And, Fowler probably sums this up best. Must read: A Giants Backup Role Might Not Fit Jaxson Dart's Grand Vision "Lawrence's game reached a new stratosphere in 2024, when he expanded his arsenal and added a nine-sack season to an already stellar résumé. Dominating the run was always on the agenda for Lawrence. He has the balance, power, flexibility, footwork and acumen to post big sack numbers. In the past, the knock on Lawrence was that he missed too many near-sacks... No longer." Fowler continues... "Lawrence racked up quarterback takedowns while facing a 74.5% double-team rate, higher than any other interior lineman. The Giants saw him improve his ability to transition off blocks, be great on the move and finish takedowns... The Giants will need to scheme Lawrence to keep four hands off him. Adding Abdul Carter to an already good defensive line will help." Lawrence is in a class of his own though. It's good to see him get his just due. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports

This article originally appeared on Tim Rooney, the nephew of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr. and one of the architects of the team's 1970s Super Bowl dynasty, died on Tuesday, his family announced via social media. Advertisement Born Vincent Timothy Rooney, Jr., the son of Art Rooney Sr.'s younger brother, Tim Rooney was a member of the Steelers front office from 1972-79, joining a front office scouting department that consisted only of Dick Haley, Art Rooney Jr. and Bill Nunn. Tim Rooney had been a college coach at Villanova, and Chuck Noll envisioned him as an advanced NFL scout that could attend the games of upcoming opponents, and also serve as a pro scout for free agency. 'Noll and Haley talked about the need to start up a pro personnel department,' Rooney said in 2020. 'They wanted to be out in front of free agency – they anticipated it and wanted to be the first team to have scouts ready in advance for it. They anticipated that need.'
