Odisha to avail funding from Centre for battery energy storage projects
This is in response to a recent communication from the New and Renewable Energy division of the ministry allocating 500 megawatt hour (MWh) to Odisha out of the total allocation of 16,500 MWh to 15 states to ensure grid integration of renewable energy (RE) and reliable electricity supply.
Acknowledging the importance of BESS, GRIDCO in its response to the ministry said, 'The state is committed to accelerating the development of RE and associated infrastructure in line with national priorities and is keen to support the initiative.'
GRIDCO being the nodal agency of the state government for RE projects has identified 10 locations for installation of the battery energy storage system. However, in the first phase BESS will be set up in four grid sub-stations under VGF scheme supported through the power system development fund (PSDF), sources said.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday agreed to give guarantee to the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) for obtaining ₹1,000 crore as loan to undertake the development of airports at Kuppam, Dagadarthi and Srikakulam —for land acquisition and external infrastructure creation— and Amaravati (for external infrastructure), and to extend Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support for airports and clear the urgent pending liabilities of the APADCL. The G.O Ms. No.8 issued by Secretary (Infrastructure & Investment- Airports) N. Yuvaraj said that the government intended to develop eight greenfield airports at Srikakulam, Bhogapuram, Tuni-Annavaram, Tadepalligudem, Ongole, Kuppam, Dagadarthi and Nagarjuna Sagar, besides operationalising the international airport at Bhogapuram, for enhancing air connectivity and supporting regional economic growth. The government also desired to establish a greenfield international airport at Amaravati. In response a proposal made by the APADCL MD in this regard, the government accorded in-principle administrative sanction for ₹1,570.64 crore to acquire land for developing the above airports. It also directed the MD to approach financial institutions for mobilising the funds. Accordingly, the MD submitted that the development of Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Srikakulam and Amaravati airports was being taken up under Phase - 1. It was further mentioned that the Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TeFR) study has been completed for Kuppam and Dagadarthi airports, while the same is in progress for the remaining two airports. The MD sought 'shortfall government guarantee' for securing ₹1,000 crore loan from the HUDCO for developing the airports.

Oriana Power surges after bagging Rs 212-cr BESS project from KPTCL
Oriana Power jumped 4.70% to Rs 2,408 after the company secured an order worth Rs 212.31 crore from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTCL) for setting up 50 MW/100 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The project will install standalone grid-scale BESS facilities with a total capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh at Shahapur Taluk Yadagir, Karnataka. This BESS initiative aims to improve grid stability by balancing supply and demand, lowering the risk of blackouts, and boosting overall grid efficiency. The project will follow a build-own-operate model and will include Rs 27 crore in Viability Gap Funding. The execution timeline is 15 months, with revenue generation expected over a period of 12 years. Oriana Power is engaged in two main business verticals: providing EPC and operations of solar power projects and offering solar energy solutions on a BOOT (build, own, operate, transfer) basis. On a full-year basis, the company's net profit surged 192.1% to Rs 158.54 crore on a 157.8% rise in net sales to Rs 987.17 crore in FY25 over FY24.

Centre to launch ADEETIE scheme to drive energy efficiency in MSMEs tomorrow
Hyderabad: Ina major move to boost industrial competitiveness, generate employment, economic sustainability, and advance India's climate goals, the Union Ministry of Power, through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), is set to launch a first-of-its-kind scheme—ADEETIE (Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries & Establishments)—focused on accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge energy-efficient technologies across the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. The national roll-out ceremony of ADEETIE will be held on July 15, 2025, in Panipat, Haryana, and is being hailed as a watershed moment in India's energy efficiency and climate change journey. The event will be graced by Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, as the Chief Guest, along with senior dignitaries from the Ministry of Power and Government of Haryana. ADEETIE is a visionary initiative that aims to mainstream global energy-efficient technologies into India's vast and diverse MSME landscape. The scheme provides technical handholding, interest subvention on loans, and policy support, enabling industries to lower energy costs, enhance productivity, and strengthen their role in India's clean energy transition. The Panipat event will also feature: Inauguration of the dedicated ADEETIE web portal: release of the ADEETIE Scheme Brochure; felicitation of MSME units that have taken early strides in adopting EE technologies; signing of MoUs between BEE and major MSME industrial associations to scale up implementation across clusters. Senior officials from the Ministry of Power, heads of State Designated Agencies (SDAs) from across India, including Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), industry leaders, MSME stakeholders, and financial institutions will participate in the national program. These measures are expected to result in substantial energy and economic savings for the respective clusters.
