Kate Middleton 'snubbed Queen Camilla's stern pep talk' at Trooping the Colour
Kate Middleton did not want to get involved, according to one expert.
Trooping the Colour took place at the weekend, with royal fans delighted to see Kate Middleton back in the fold for the annual event. The Princess of Wales was forced to miss last year's ceremony to celebrate King Charles' 76th birthday as she focused on her recovery from cancer.
On November 14 each year, King Charles marks his birthday privately, but each year in June he marks his "official" birthday with the military spectacle where the most prestigious regiments in the British Army honour the monarch by parading for the special day.
Kate was back to join in the celebrations on Saturday as she continues to return to official royal working life. She was cheered along with her children, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis, as they followed the King and Queen in a carriage and made their way from Buckingham Palace, down the Mall, to Horse Guards Parade.
It was a full house for 'the Firm' as Kate and her children were joined by Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who followed the procession on horseback, as delighted crowds looked on.
A couple of years back, Kate reportedly made a swift head-turning gesture to Queen Camilla during the historical event, according to a body language expert, as we previously reported.
The monarch appeared to struggle as the horse he was riding that year became excitable, and according to body language expert Judi James, Camilla was on the sidelines to try and provide support. However, the princess steered clear.
She explained: "Trooping the Colour might have been slightly marred by the rather frisky horse that Charles seemed to be struggling with and which meant he rarely achieved the same kind of formal mounted pose that his son and siblings achieved riding behind him to the parade ground.
"While William and Edward sat bolt upright on their very calm horses, with right arms rigid at their sides, Charles frequently needed two hands on the reins and a series of pats that increased in intensity as his horse needed steering and correcting throughout the ride to the parade ground.
"The King seemed to be complaining again to Camilla once he arrived beside the rostrum where she was standing, meaning instead of offering a smile of pride and support her body language suggested she was giving a rather stern-looking pep-talk than involved frowning and some firm-looking head baton nods.
"Kate took one glance at the conversation and turned her head away, clearly not wanting to get involved."
That same year, Judi also noted a change with William and Kate's cheeky son Prince Louis but said he still remained his excitable self thanks to his mum.
She explained: "With Louis now dressed exactly like George, it is obvious that his behaviour is also getting more grown-up and less playful but there were several signs that, with the encouragement of Kate, he is still enjoying his royal events and getting excited by everything going on around him.
"He strode out first when he and his siblings walked from their carriage on the parade ground and when he was in the carriage he got a beam from Kate as he mimed drumming while the band played.
"On the balcony, he turned to chat to his parents but his enthusiasm for the Red Arrows was obvious from his impatience signal as he waited for them to arrive, rolling his hands into fists and punching them together.
"With this slimmed-down monarchy, there was more of a less formal, family feel to the balcony group. Camilla was chatting to Charles as they walked out and Charlotte had to squeeze out behind her grandfather, followed by an equally squeezing-through Kate.
"Sophie and Edward chatted to Charles and Camilla, with Sophie making her husband laugh as she mimed how close two of the planes had flown and Charles chatted frequently to William, with the pair showing signs of a new, more easy-going bonding."
This year, another sweet moment was picked up by a lip reader, when Charlotte could be seen chatting to her mum as they made their way to the celebrations. According to professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman, Princess Charlotte said: "Who is it?" asking about a person in the crowd, Kate then replied and Charlotte then appeared to say: "Oh brilliant" before the mother and daughter giggled together.
Meanwhile, a fresh update on Kate's health was provided today, as it was announced she was pulling out of Royal Ascot at the last minute.
Spectators were hoping to catch a glimpse of Kate as William was named as one of the figures awarding race prizes during the second day of the meet. Kate's name had also been included in the official programme as taking part in today's carriage procession in the second carriage alongside William.
But soon after Kensington Palace confirmed she would not be there. It is understood she is trying to find the "right balance" as she fully returns to public-facing engagements.

Charlotte looks demure, Louis looks impish, but George sometimes looks rather preoccupied to me. And who can blame him? It is an extraordinary prospect to know that one day you will be taking on the huge role that you are now watching your grandfather perform. "But he's not, by any means, always a serious little chap. When he's with his dad at a football match, or fooling around with his siblings and his father, he has a wonderful smile on his face, and seems happy and relaxed.", reports the Mirror. In May, George undertook his most significant Royal engagement yet when he attended commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Alongside Charlotte and Louis, he mingled with veterans to watch a military parade, and made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast. Taking a major step in his Royal duties, he joined his parents in conversing with Second World War heroes at a Buckingham Palace tea party. He listened attentively to their poignant stories and asked questions about their experiences. He was guided through the event by Kate, 43, who beckoned him over to chat with the former servicemen and women, helping her eldest son feel comfortable. The veterans at the gathering spoke highly of the young prince's curiosity about their wartime experiences. Last month, George also accompanied his grandfather, King Charles, for Trooping the Colour, riding in a carriage and, once again, appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for another impressive RAF flypast. Prince George is not alone on his journey towards adolescence, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge by his side every step of the way. Despite an increasing public profile, Kate and William are adamant about giving George and his siblings as normal a life as possible. This includes a regular education, cheering on Aston Villa at football matches with his dad, and only making appearances at the most significant Royal events. This approach marks a departure from Prince William's own teenage years, which were spent navigating the complexities of his parents' separation and time at boarding school. At the tender ages of 15 and 12, William and Prince Harry endured the devastating loss of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who tragically passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997. Kate, however, is acutely aware of the profound impact early childhood has on later life, undoubtedly applying this knowledge in raising her children. Jennie comments: "I think George's close and loving relationship with his parents will prove invaluable as he continues to grow up. Catherine is now such an expert on how children develop and the emotions they go through: her support and advice for George will continue to be a key factor in his wellbeing." One Royal who, Jennie believes, will have set a precedent on how to raise a future King is the mother-in-law Kate never met - Diana. Her unique approach to parenting, which entirely rewrote the Royal rule book, saw her insist that William and Harry were exposed to life beyond palace walls, whilst simultaneously ensuring they both grasped the magnitude of their roles. She famously took her sons to McDonald's, made them queue like everyone else during days out at theme parks, and even brought them to homeless shelters to expose them to life outside the Royal bubble. Those childhood visits evidently had an impact on William, now 43, who has publicly stated his ambition is to end homelessness and concedes he, too, would be open to taking George to meet those who are experiencing homelessness. Jennie believes that Diana's approach, as well as allowing her children to be normal boys, will have undoubtedly influenced William - and, in turn, Kate - regarding how to raise George. She adds: "I think William has drawn on the openly loving and tactile relationship he had with his mother to help him bring up his own children. "He will remember how Diana insisted that her boys should know more about the real world than royal princes before them. She made them aware of having play days and work days. On play days they could wear jeans, eat burgers and enjoy go-karting. On work days they had to dress and behave as princes of the realm. "I think William has made sure that his own children have as many play days as possible, but he and Catherine have also gradually introduced them to the formal world of being royal." The upcoming weeks will likely see increased speculation about which secondary school George will attend. Jennie believes it will be a challenging decision for William and Kate, who will also be considering what's best for Charlotte and Louis. "For so many youngsters, teenage years can be hard, but for a prince, everything is a whole lot harder," she says. "First and foremost, the school has to be able to offer or accommodate 24/7 protection. Then there is the impact on other pupils because, like it or not, George will always be different. "I suppose Eton remains high on the list - for William the school was a haven at a very, very difficult time in his life following his mother's death - but Marlborough College is definitely another contender. "Catherine enjoyed her years there, especially the sports facilities, and a big plus must be that it is co-educational, so the other two children could join George there." Both schools boast impressive alumni, with Prince Harry also attending Eton, along with prime ministers such as David Cameron and Boris Johnson, and actors Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. Meanwhile, former Marlborough pupils include Princess Eugenie, comedian Jack Whitehall and Samantha Cameron, the wife of former Prime Minister David Cameron. "Personally, I would like to see the siblings at the same school because I think they would be a great comfort to one another during these tricky years," Jennie opines. "I would also like to see them at a day school, or as weekly boarders, so that they could still enjoy the lovely, cosy home environment that William and Catherine have worked so hard to create for them." Jennie emphasises the importance of privacy, noting, "William was given a good deal of privacy at Eton, especially after Diana's death. And I think he will do everything possible to make sure that George and the others are able to negotiate this important growing up stage of their lives without worrying that cameras are around every corner." However, when it comes to making the ultimate decision, it's clear Kate will prioritise what's best for George, with Jennie remarking on his readiness for the future due to his parents' guidance. She remarks, "I think George is pretty lucky to have these two as his parents. And if Catherine needs advice, then I think the best person she can turn to is her husband - who is living out the very same destiny himself."

It comes ahead of more than 200 events taking place across the UK to mark the occasion. The town of Cleethorpes hosted the three-day annual national event for the 11th year in a row and welcomed 200,000 visitors who gathered to watch the spectacle. It featured a military parade with personnel from the Royal Navy, British Army and the RAF's Red Arrows, including music from the British Army Band Catterick and the Band of the Coldstream Guards. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed plans to place a 'legal duty' on all Government departments to consider the needs of military personnel and their families when making policy. Families of veterans could receive cut-price train fares of their own as part of proposals to strengthen the UK's military covenant being considered by ministers, it is understood. Eligibility for the special railcard, which provides a discount of one third on most tickets, could be extended under plans to offer more support to the armed forces community. Under existing rules, spouses of veterans can be offered concessions when travelling as a companion to the cardholder, but cannot use benefits independently. MAFS star Ella Morgan's mental health struggle since trans ruling
Ella Morgan was among the celebrities attending the 2025 Rainbow Honours on Friday Pride Month is in full swing, bringing with it a vibrant lineup of events that spotlight some of the most inspiring and influential figures in the LGBTQIA+ community. Among them is the 2025 Rainbow Honours, an annual celebration that recognises individuals and organisations making significant strides in promoting LGBTQIA+ equality and inclusion. On Friday (June 28), Married at First Sight star Ella Morgan was honoured as Campaigner or Influencer of the Year. As a transgender woman, Ella has used her platform to advocate for trans rights, a mission that has become increasingly challenging in recent months. 'My mental health has not been the best since the ruling,' the reality TV star shares. 'I think I just really struggled with being labelled or identified as legally a man.' Back on April 16, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the legal definition of "woman" under the Equality Act 2010 is based on biological sex, excluding transgender women. 'You know, people call me man and tranny and he all the time online, and it's just a word and it means nothing to me,' Ella says. She further shares: 'So it didn't affect me, but now, because it's legally recognised, it is painful and it's sad, and it's like I've gone through all of this stuff and I've still been penalised, and discriminated against. 'But this time, people justify their anger and their hatred with this ruling; it's like it's given some people an excuse to justify their hatred because it's a ruling made by the government.' Ella, who made history when she became the first transgender person to appear on both MAFS in 2023 and Celebs Go Dating the following year, says that she has faced 'more hate than ever' this year. She explains: 'People are like, 'yeah, but you are a man, you know, legally, you are'. 'What am I meant to say to that? And how am I meant to deal with that?' Jake Graf, notable as Britain's most prominent transgender father, echoes Ella's struggle amid the Supreme Court's ruling. Taking to the Rainbow Honours red carpet, he shares: 'I'm a trans man, married to a trans woman, and we have two daughters, three and five years old, and I fear for my wife every time she leaves the house now.' Jake's wife, Hannah, served as the highest-ranking trans officer in the British Army before she left in 2018 to start a family. The couple made history as Britain's first transgender parents. 'Every time she goes into a public toilet, my wife is scared about taking our two little daughters into the toilet or into the changing room when she takes them to their swimming lessons, and that should not be happening,' Jake continues. 'So it's severely affected our lives and our mental health.' He adds: 'I take our daughters to the toilet a lot more than my wife does anymore because she's worried about someone attacking her in front of our kids, which is terrible.' Despite the recent rise in transphobia across, Jake remains hopeful, particularly inspired by the younger generation. 'The younger generation is more and more diverse and more fluid than we ever imagined,' he says. 'There are more trans people out there than I think we ever knew, and I think once we get over this terrible blip in our history, we'll realise that more and more trans people are going to keep coming out, and it will seem less unusual, and soon, we will find that love and acceptance that we so desperately need.' 25-year-old Noah Adams, known as Noahfinnce, was nominated in the Musician category of the awards and took home a Highly Commended prize in the category. He shares: 'When I was younger, I didn't really feel pride at all. 'I felt pride in my bisexuality, but in terms of being trans, I never felt proud of that until quite recently.' The singer-songwriter and YouTuber, who regularly uses his platform to raise awareness about trans issues to his 979,000 subscribers, often shares commentary critical of figures like J.K. Rowling. Like many other attendees at the Rainbow Honours, Noah remarked that this year's Pride Month feels less like a celebration and more like a protest. This year, he would like to protest against anti-trans legislation, not just in the UK, but around the world. 'I tour the US every single year, and this year I'm not going to be able to, because my passport's going to be counted as fraudulent because it doesn't match the sex assigned at birth,' Noah explains. To become better allies to the trans community, the Asthma Attack emphasised the importance of simply asking. 'It's better to say the wrong thing and find out it's the wrong thing than tiptoe around,' Noah concludes. Ali Bromley, notable for being the first lesbian to win Big Brother UK, shares a similar perspective to Noah, stressing the importance of open dialogue and education. 'Sometimes I do make the decision to protect my peace, but then sometimes if somebody sends me a message and I think, actually, that's a good talking point, I think, why not share that and then share my response?' Ali, who was nominated for in the Rainbow Honours' Media Moment category, says. 'What I would hope to model is that maybe change and progression can come with conversation, it doesn't always have to be an argument, because I think sometimes we can get very polarised and start shouting at each other and maybe conversation is okay, and social media is a platform where we can do that.' Being a public queer figure comes with a lot of 'trolls' and online hate, RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Saki Yew Suki says. As a result Saki highlighted the importance of recognising personal progress as key forms of self-care within the queer community. They say: 'Just take a moment sometimes in your own life and just reflect and just you give yourself the chance to go, 'oh, my God, I'm doing so well with whatever I'm doing in my life'.' Jaxon Feeley, who won a highly commended award in the Rainbow Honours' Media Moment of the Year category, reveals: 'You really do have to protect yourself, especially after the Supreme Court ruling, the level of hate online has more than tripled in terms of how much hate there is. When bullies are in power, it gives bullies permission to bully, and unfortunately, that creates a hell of a lot of pain.' Charlie Craggs, a transgender activist, expressed pride in the LGBTQIA+ community for coming together to protest transphobic sentiment. 'For a long time, it's felt like the trans, we're the ones who have been seen as the extremists and we're like the ones making it protesty, but that's because our rights have been the most under fire in recent years,' she says. Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu noted the importance of authentic expression, encouraging men to embrace their femininity. 'Sometimes they want you to dance more masculine, but why can't I dance femininely?' the professional dancer jokes. He adds: 'I want to embrace my femininity, femininity, just brilliant. I think a man should embrace more of their femininity inside of them, because they create more layers of artistry and allow them to really express themselves on a deeper level.' Carlos recognised the LGBTQIA+ community for teaching him to embrace his true self without fear. 'I think gay communities are so inspiring and allow ourselves to be ourselves without any obstacles, without any fear to think that somebody might come to us, I think that's the most important thing I've learned,' he says. Actor Jason Patel revealed that starring in the movie Unicorns taught him a profound understanding of exploring the duality of masculinity and femininity and embracing those different extremes. Reflecting on the significance of this year's Pride Month, Jason concluded with a powerful call to action: 'Protect the dolls', a phrase that champions the protection and trans people. The Rainbow Honours celebration was highlighted by Sister Sledge's Kathy Sledge receiving the Icon Award in recognition of her unwavering allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community, made even more memorable by her powerful performance of the timeless anthem, We Are Family.
