The story is written by V. Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as the creative director and screenplay writer. Super Good Films is behind the production, with R.B. Choudary at the helm. In a candid conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Fahadh Faasil shared the intriguing story behind Maareesan, revealing that the film was initially conceived as a Malayalam project.
In his words, 'Maareesan, I originally heard it as a Malayalam film. I was planning a Malayalam movie at that point, and that is when I heard this. When we got into the casting and all, I said that we needed someone like Vadivelu sir for this movie."
'After these discussions, the producer came to us. He is already a Tamil producer and asked why we aren't making this in Tamil itself. My only condition was that if we were doing it in Tamil, it had to be with Vadivelu sir," he added.

In an interview with Zoom, the actor reflected on one of the film's most emotional scenes and shared, 'On Dhadak's set, Janhvi and I could lean onto each other." He further explained, 'My character is going through a lot of conflict. He is trying to be a man for her but he is not able to. He is dealing with his own issues. He has been uprooted from his family. You can see the cracks in him, his vulnerability. He is trying to be supportive, but inevitably he's dealing with his own demons." In Homebound, Ishaan stars alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa. The story follows two childhood friends—Shoaib Ali (played by Ishaan) and Chandan Kumar (played by Vishal)—who hail from a North Indian village and are determined to break free from the burden of their marginalised identities. However, a series of events leads to internal and external conflicts that test their bond. While the film has already garnered international attention at Cannes, its theatrical release date is still under wraps. Homebound marks a significant reunion for Ishaan and Janhvi, and fans are excited to see the duo together on screen once again. 'Top Boy' actor Micheal Ward has been officially charged with two counts of rape and other serious offences by London's Metropolitan Police 'Top Boy' actor Micheal Ward has been officially charged with two counts of rape and other serious offences by London's Metropolitan Police, reported The Hollywood Reporter. According to the publication, the 27-year-old actor, known for his role as Jamie in the Netflix series 'Top Boy' and most recently seen in Ari Aster 's Cannes film 'Eddington,' was charged with "two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault." The charges are in connection with a single woman and are alleged to have taken place in January 2023. Police confirmed that the woman is being supported by specialist officers. Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, whose team is leading the investigation, said, "We know investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who make reports." Catherine Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South, said, "Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Micheal Ward, 27, with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against a woman in January 2023." "We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial. It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online that could in any way prejudice these proceedings," she added, according to Hollywood Reporter. Ward, who was born in Jamaica and raised in the UK, won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020. He also received a BAFTA nomination for his role in Empire of Light and was recently seen on the Cannes red carpet alongside Joaquin Phoenix , Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone for Eddington. Ward is scheduled to appear in court at Thames Magistrates' Court in London on Thursday, August 28.
