The Apprentice star becomes dad for first time at 50: 'Nothing prepares you'

Metro05-05-2025
A star of The Apprentice has said that 'nothing prepares you' for fatherhood after becoming a dad for the first time at 50.
Tre Lowe, who reached the interview stage of the BBC business reality competition in 2024, shared the news of his baby's imminent arrival in November.
He first became known to the British public in 2000 when his UK garage group Architechs landed a number three hit with debut single Body Groove.
After impressing Lord Alan Sugar throughout The Apprentice last year, Tre almost made it to the end, but the series was eventually won by Rachel Woolford.
Following his time on the BBC show, during which he gained many new fans, he revealed that he and his wife Enas Daeki, 34, were expecting their first child together.

During the early May Bank Holiday weekend, he shared the happy news of his son's birth with an announcement on Instagram.
'And just like that, I'm a father. There's nothing that prepares you for this moment,' he wrote in his caption.
'No book, no podcast, no advice. Just you, your son, and a whole new frequency of love.
'Real talk – the road to get here hasn't been easy. It's been full of plot twists, growing pains, and challenging moments. But every single one shaped me. Broke me open. Built something real. Something solid.'
He continued: 'Now I look at my son and everything makes sense. My mission. My why.
'To everyone who's walked with me, held space – I see you. I thank you. I love you.'
Tre then turned his loving focus onto his wife: 'To my wife Enas – you are power, beauty, grace and grit. What you've done, what you've carried, what you've become. I'm in awe.
'And to my son… I've got you. Through everything. Through the madness and the magic. From now till my last breath – I've got you. The next chapter begins now. Let's get it.'
In the replies, Tre and Enas received comments of love from many friends and family, including Mis-Teeq's Su-Elise and 2022 Apprentice winner Harpreet Kaur.
Harpreet said, 'Congratulations! Beautiful!' while Su-Elise commented, 'Huge congratulations to you both. Love you guys. We're just so happy for you! Welcome to parenthood.'
Tre and Enas, who are based in the Notting Hill area of London, tied the knot in 2023, shortly before Tre began his run on The Apprentice. More Trending
Speaking to MailOnline after his stint, Tre said that his then-unborn son would be in safe hands if Lord Sugar ended up being his godfather.
'If anything happened to me. I know my kid is going to be all right. If Lord Sugar was the godparent, can you imagine the wisdom that kid would have.'
He added: 'If I could add Lord Sugar to the mix of [my family], my kid would be sorted. I mean, it would have the creativity of me, so that side would be sorted, and it would have the entrepreneurial side from Lord Sugar.'

Monaco, the people-watching paradise

I'm lying on a sun lounger in Monte Carlo and there are so many women with extended blonde hair, hornet-stung lips and bazooka breasts stuffed into tiny monogrammed bikinis that I can't distinguish between them. They make me feel as though I'm part of a different species. My battered copy of Bret Easton Ellis's The Rules of Attraction and a sweating glass of champagne complete the scene. Like Bret, I'm drawn to the dark side of glamour, which means Monaco is a people-watching paradise. Along with the bazooka babes, ninety-something men also aren't in short supply. A leathery, wispy-chested man in that age category is slumped next to the pool, with a bandage on his foot, plasters up his arm and a wheelchair tucked away to the side. He is chain-smoking cigars and chugging beers. I fear his obit is due any minute, but what a way to go. One striking feature is the sheer number of newly installed British expats. With Labour's changes to non-dom status and the tax raids on private schools, can anyone be that surprised that our ultra-rich are fleeing to places like Monaco? Though I've heard there have been complaints from bored wives trapped in their new gilded cages abroad, missing the verve of British society, which nothing can ever replace. Poor Rachel Reeves. The left-wingers in her party want to bring in a wealth tax, which everyone with a brain knows will drive away even more high-earners, but she's too weak to rule it out. Ever since her horrific breakdown in the Commons, she's been singing for her supper in the City, with a desperate smile screwed to her face. Oh well, at least some of the expats seem to be enjoying their time here. I watch an English man with big gnashers devour an entire watermelon while casually transferring hundreds of thousands of dollars from one account to another on his laptop, which has a terrier drinking a cocktail as its background. A week before I flew to Monaco, I had a padel lesson as part of my attempt to ingratiate myself with the world's elite. Forget Wimbledon or even polo, these days it's all about padel in high-society land. Clare Stobart – of the haulage dynasty – took her helicopter to a club in Oxfordshire to meet me and we pranced around with a dashing Spanish instructor (they are always Spanish and always hot) firing balls at us. Goldman Sachs-type guys in caps battled it out on the next-door court while yummy mummies waited their turn. I've been a Francophile since my late grandmother, Anne, first told me stories of her summers in Paris. During the second world war, when she was wee, the family had hosted officers from the Polish tank regiment at home in Kelso. One of those officers, Romain, died in battle in France and was never forgotten by my family. One day at the end of the war there came a knock at the door. A Parisian woman in a powder-blue Dior suit asked to come in – her name was Agnès Chabrier. She claimed to be Romain's fiancée and wanted to see where he had been happy. As it turns out, Agnès was a fierce writer in the Saint Germain set. She released political manifestos under her own name (she wrote scathingly against the USSR, saying that 'When the Russians take Paris I'll be the first to hang from my balcony!') and potboilers under the name Daniel Gray. She became close to the family and invited Anne to spend summer with her in Paris, in her apartment on Boulevard Raspail. The characters my grandmother met there became my fairy tales: the Japanese woman in the kimono who came to tell of the horrors of Hiroshima; the Slav who put his gun on the mantelpiece; the Dior model on the train; the American soldiers celebrating Bastille Day. So began my lifelong pursuit of France and society (I once lived for a year on an oyster farm on Ile de Ré – but that is a story for another time). Monte Carlo, though, is more humorous than France, so extravagant is the richesse. At breakfast at the Hotel de Paris, I enjoy watching the super-rich on the terrace front row being attacked by hungry gulls. (The secret is to ask for a table a row or two back.) Schadenfreude is delicious. And hubris is punishable. On my final night, I request room service on my balcony and brush off the server's warning about those gulls – I want that sea view. So when, like harpies, they circle, swoop and attack, I flee screaming inside only to see my dinner be snatched up and the glasses smashed. I suppose it's only fair enough.

Baby joy! Tennis star Sam Stosur welcomes her second child with partner Liz Astling

Sam Stosur has welcomed her second child with partner Liz Astling. The Australian Grand Slam winner, 41, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the arrival of her daughter Emmeline Grace. Sam shared a sweet photo of her newborn baby wrapped in a blanket and wrote: 'And beautiful chaos reigns once again. 'Welcome Emmeline Grace. Evie is beyond happy to have a little sister and we are over the moon. We love you so much little Emmy.' Many flocked to the comments to congratulate the couple on their newest addition, with tennis star Maddison Inglis writing: 'So beautiful!!!! Can't wait to meet her.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Just another gorgeous baby girl for me to love endlessly ! Emmy your Auntie Nae Nae can't wait to meet you!! Sam and Liz, I'm so happy for you both and Evie, you're going to be the best big sis ever! Love you all,' Rennae Stubbs commented. 'Congrats you guys,' Lizette Cabrera said while Alicia Molik added: 'Congrats Sam, Liz and Evie.' Sam, who shares daughter Genevieve with Liz, announced she was expecting her second child back in April. Taking to Instagram, Sam revealed that her family was set to expand with a cute clip. The video showed Sam hurriedly dusting off and setting up a pram and a baby capsule on her back deck. 'Time to dust off the baby gear,' the sports star wrote over the exciting vision. Captioning the clip, Sam confirmed the news revealing that, this time around, it was her turn to carry the precious cargo. 'We're so excited for the new addition to our family,' she wrote. 'It's my turn this time.' Liz gave birth to Genevieve in 2020. The tennis player announced at the time her girlfriend Liz had given birth to a baby girl on June 16, 2020 in a doting post on Instagram. Sam had gushed about her joy at becoming a mother and how the coronavirus pandemic had been a blessing in disguise for her young family. The Australian grand slam winner said motherhood has been 'absolutely amazing'. 'Even the tougher times don't seem that bad when you just look at her little face and you just want to cuddle her and hold her all day long. It's absolutely incredible,' Sam said. But she admitted she was still adjusting to becoming a mum and all the craziness that comes with it. 'It still seems a little bit weird to say she's my daughter, but I'll get used to that. It's absolutely amazing,' she said at the time. As she battled through the learning process and sleepless nights, she said she' felt fortunate to have been blessed with little Evie. Sam is the only Australian woman since the legendary Evonne Goolagong Cawley, more than half a century ago, to claim major titles in singles, doubles and mixed doubles - all forms of the professional game. Her on-court career came to an emotional end in 2023 following a first-round Australian Open mixed doubles loss with Mathew Ebden. She won the Australian Open women's doubles in 2019 with Zhang Shaui, as well as the mixed title at Melbourne Park way back in 2005 with countryman Scott Draper. The 2011 US Open singles champion also claimed grand slam women's doubles titles at the 2006 French Open and at Flushing Meadows in 2005 and 2021 and spent 61 weeks atop the doubles rankings during her career.
