India has 29,277 EV charging stations, Karnataka leads: Minister
Karnataka leads with 6,097 EV charging stations, followed by Maharashtra at 4,155 and Uttar Pradesh at 2,326, Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
The Power Ministry issued the 'Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure-2024', in September last year, and the 'Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Battery Swapping and Charging Stations', in January this year, which lay down standards and protocols for developing a nationwide network of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, battery charging, and battery swapping stations.
"An allocation of ₹ 2,000 crore has been made under the
PM E-DRIVE Scheme
to support the "setting up of adequate public charging infrastructure for various categories of electric vehicles" on a pan-India basis in consultation with ministries, states and other stakeholders," informed the minister.
The PM E-DRIVE scheme was launched in October 2024 to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) through demand incentives and expand EV charging infrastructure nationwide. The Centre has allocated ₹ 10,900 crore for subsidies to EVs under this scheme.
When it comes to Tier-2 cities, there are as many as 4,625 EV charging stations operational in the country (as on April 1, 2025).
Meanwhile, the government has supported a total of 18,84,905 electric vehicles (EVs) under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) scheme till June 30 this year.
Under the FAME-II scheme, the government supported 16,29,600 vehicles. The FAME-II scheme sanctioned a total of ₹ 912.50 crore for the installation of 9,332 EV PCS, out of which 8,885 EVPCS have been installed (as on June 30), said Varma.
The FAME schemes were applicable all across the country, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The FAME-I Scheme duration was 2015-2019, and the duration of the FAME-II scheme was 2019-2024.

Chandigarh: Exports of fresh mangoes from Amritsar's Air Cargo Complex surged to 1.4 lakh kg in the year 2024-25, valued at $3.3 lakh (almost ₹2.9 crore), marking a sharp rebound from zero exports the previous year, despite prolonged licensing suspensions and curtailed international flights. Data tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday revealed that the mango consignments, mainly Alphonso and Kesar varieties, were shipped to the UK via Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport. The country exported 70,000 kg of mangoes worth $2.25 lakh (more than ₹1.9 core) exported in the financial year 2022-23. An official at the cargo complex said exporters from Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh favoured Amritsar over Delhi due to lower costs and smoother operations. "Even after trucking produce from distant states, exporters found the overall costs lower in Amritsar," the official claimed. The mangoes were flown primarily on Air India's direct Amritsar-London Gatwick route, which commenced in March 2023. A separate Air India service also connects Amritsar with Birmingham. The airline cited a "safety pause" to conduct checks on its Boeing 787 fleet amid airspace disruptions over Pakistan and the Middle East. The Amritsar–Birmingham service was also reduced to twice weekly, with full service set to resume from Sept 1. Exports from Amritsar had already resumed in May after a nine-month halt triggered by the suspension of the RA3 certification required for EU-bound air cargo. Officials said despite the 2024 suspension, most of the season's mangoes had already been exported between April and July. Azad Singh, officer in charge of Air Cargo Amritsar, said the cargo terminal could handle 80 metric tonnes of perishable goods daily and needed increased flight frequency to unlock its full export potential. "At least four to five weekly flights to Gatwick and Birmingham are needed," he said. He also pushed for a third weekly wide-body Qatar Airways flight to Doha. Aside from mangoes, baby corn is another key export to the UK. Beyond perishables, the facility can process 50 MT each of general exports and imports. Govt data showed processed vegetable exports from the cargo complex totalled $5.2 lakh (more than ₹4.5 crore) in 2024-25, down from $10.24 lakh (more than ₹8.9 crore) the year before but up from $2.9 lakh (more than ₹2.5 crore) in 2022-23. Exports of "other fresh vegetables" also rose modestly to $1.5 lakh (₹1.3 crore) in 2024-25, though still below 2022-23 levels ($5.76 lakh or ₹5 crore). A rice trader suggested the low volume of Basmati rice indicated they were likely sample shipments. Responding to Aujla's questions, Union minister of state for food processing industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu, said the govt had approved three food processing projects worth ₹51.6 crore in Amritsar under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, including ₹12.1 crore in grant aid. Another 34 micro-processing projects were sanctioned under the PMFME scheme, with subsidies totalling ₹2.2 crore.

No proposal to stop ₹500 notes, ATMs to dispense more lower denominations: MoS Finance Pankaj Chaudhary
The government has no plans to discontinue the supply of ₹ 500 denomination banknotes and ATMs will continue to disburse ₹ 500 alongside ₹ 100 or ₹ 200 notes, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed Parliament on Tuesday. Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a circular titled 'Dispensation of ₹ 100 and ₹ 200 denomination banknotes through ATMs' issued on April 28, 2025, directed banks and ATM operators to ensure their machines are regularly disbursing ₹ 100 and ₹ 200 notes. In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, the minister said that the RBI has directed the disbursal of more lower denomination notes to enhance public access to frequently used denominations of banknotes. He also mentioned the timeline set by the RBI for this initiative: By September 30, 2025, 75 per cent of all ATMs would dispense either ₹ 100 or ₹ 200 denomination banknotes from at least one cassette. 100 or 200 denomination banknotes from at least one cassette.
