Contract extension updates for 3 key Broncos players

Yahoo2 days ago
After the Denver Broncos gave a four-year contract extension to wide receiver Courtland Sutton earlier this week, attention quickly turned to the team's other players currently scheduled to become free agents in 2026.
Among the notable players entering the final years of their contracts are defensive lineman Zach Allen, pass rusher Nik Bonitto and defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers. Denver has already started negotiations with Bonitto, and he recently told the Denver Post he has faith a deal will get done.
Franklin-Myers, meanwhile, does not expect to get an extension before the season, according to the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson. The Broncos have not started negotiations with JFM, according to Tomasson, as the team focuses on potential extensions for Bonitto and Allen.
JFM totaled 40 tackles, 18 quarterback hits and seven sacks in Denver last fall. He's certainly worthy of an extension (and a raise), but the Broncos might not be able to re-sign everyone. It's still possible that extension talks could begin during the season. For now, though, it sounds like JFM isn't on the verge of a new deal.

Micah Parsons' viral Steelers trade comments resurface amid Cowboys contract drama

Micah Parsons sent shockwaves through the NFL with his trade request becoming official — but this wasn't the first time he's discussed leaving the Cowboys, as his viral Steelers trade comments have begun to resurface on social media. Back in February, Parsons sat down with former Steelers CB turned CBS Sports analyst Bryant McFadden in a one-on-one interview. McFadden asked Parsons if he rocked with the Steelers and claimed he could see the young defender wearing the Black and Gold — and in response, the Cowboys superstar dropped a bombshell. "Yeah, I do," Parsons said, confirming his interest in the Steelers. "I said, if I ever returned home, it was going to be Pittsburgh." Parsons, a Pennsylvania native, would surely be welcomed with open arms in Pittsburgh — but the path to making that dream a reality is nearly impossible, potentially requiring the Steelers to part ways with another high-profile edge rusher. Little Silver golf sensation Chris Gotterup debuting at FedExCup and $100 million jackpot

Having established himself as one of the top young golfers in the world over the past month, Little Silver's Chris Gotterup heads into the PGA Tour's FedExCup Playoffs with a chance to win a championship. The 26-year-old Gotterup will be in the field at this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship, at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, the first of three playoff events that conclude with the Tour Championship in Atlanta Aug. 21-24. Gotterup, who won the Scottish Open last month before finishing third at the British Open, is in his second season on the PGA Tour, with the former Rutgers star finishing No. 23 in year-long FedExCup points race, qualifying for the postseason for the first time. More: 'It was spectacular': Legendary Shore golf coach reacts to Chris Gotterup winning Scottish Open The top 70 players in the points standings are eligible for the playoffs, featuring a progressive cut with fields of 70 (FedEx St. Jude Championship), 50 (BMW Championship) and 30 (TOUR Championship). The FedExCup bonus distribution total is $100 million, with the champion earning $10 million. Gotterup, who won a Shore Conference Tournament title playing for CBA, has had a breakout season in 2025, with nearly $3.9 million in earnings so far. It brings his career earnings to $5.7 million, having won twice. One of the most impressive stats is that he's fourth overall in scoring average at 69.2. He's also one of the longest hitters on Tour, ranking No. 9 in driving distance at 316.3 yards, and ranks second in greens in regulation. With a good showing in the playoffs, Gotterup could earn himself a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup squad, which takes on the European team at Bethpage Black on Long Island in September.
