TREASURE TROVE I own Britain's BIGGEST car collection worth £40m – I've a one-off Bentley but my most-special treasure is different
THE MAN with Britain's biggest car collection worth £40million has revealed his most treasured item.
Rodger Dudding, 87, from Kent now owns more than 450 classic cars at his Studio434 in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

The car enthusiast and business magnate started collecting vehicles around 60 years ago, which are all now housed in his £7m garage.
Nicknamed "Mr Lock Up" or "RD" by staff, Rodger has been best known for his accumulation of no fewer than 24 Aston Martin Lagondas.
This includes the first and last examples of the rare model from the British car manufacturer.
Aston Martin only built 645 of their Lagondas, meaning Rodger owns 3.7% of their total production.

He said: "The Aston Martin Lagonda, you love them or you hate them.
"You probably have to be nutty to own one, and you should be taken to the lunatic asylum if you've got three or more.
"I don't know where that positions me."
On top of that, the Tickford edition included in his Lagonda collection is complete with a boomerang TV aerial in the boot, being just one of four made in 1984.

But for Rodger, the most precious in the collection is his 1952 Morris Minor, known to sell for around £10,000 in perfect condition.
This is the automobile that started Rodger's love for cars and collecting, bought by his father in 1955.
He said: "It is totally and absolutely an original.
"I can look upon a motorcar in many cases as a piece of three dimensional art.

"It doesn't have to be an expensive motorcar.
"It could be very small motorcar."
"And as an art collector of major specialist brands I thought there was a gap there and people were not necessarily saving for posterity, for history, and that's why I buy unusual pieces of machinery."
Other notable vehicles in his collection are a 1984 Ford Capri, an early Honda NSX from 1992, a Taxi, Jaguar XJ220 and Jaguar XJ fire tender.

The 2002 London Taxi Company TXII that Rodger owns is a unique addition to the collection, which was also one of the first of its breed.
A 1968 Jensen Interceptor FF is also a special addition, being the first car Rodger purchased to start his collection of the UK's largest private collection of classic, vintage and modern vehicles.
A few Interceptors are kept at Studio434, but this one is a convertible making it real rarity.
Just 267 convertibles were made between 1974 and 1976 as Jensen went bankrupt, and Rodger's is one of the earliest examples.

He also owns more than two dozen Jaguars, but the XJ220 is particularly special because it is one of just 274 made between 1992 and 1994, having a top speed of 213mph and able to do 0-60mph in just 3.6 seconds.
The XJR is also special addition which was built in 1995 to act as the fire tender at Donington Park racecar track.

Jonathan Rea drawing inspiration from Northern Irish crowd heading to Donington Park

Rea achieved his best result of last season at the British round of the series with third in the Superpole race. It remains the six-time champion's best result since he made the move from Kawasaki to Yamaha and Rea hopes he can put himself in a position to challenge for a similar result this weekend. However, the 38-year-old will be looking to make a big step forward in final free practice on Saturday ahead of Superpole qualifying after ending the first day in 17th place on the combined free practice time sheets. Rea was 0.780s down on pacesetter and championship leader Nicolo Bulega ( Ducati), who lapped in 1m 26.342s to edge out Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Ducati) for the top spot. 'More challenging first day than we were expecting to be honest,' said Rea. 'But we probably didn't make a big enough step in performance between FP1 and FP2, the times are very close in that mid-pack area. 'I lost a bit of my flow during the session and when we put a new tyre in at the end it was better, but still not good enough to register a time. 'I feel we really need to improve the entry of the corner – especially in the trail-braking area in the fast and flowing section. 'The last sector where it's about brakes and acceleration, I actually feel quite okay. 'The focus for tonight is just to go through the data, try and understand – I feel like I am riding the bike on the limit, but clearly there is more time to be gained,' he added. 'So, put our heads together as a team and try to find a good way for tomorrow. 'Good thing is that we got a lot of laps in today, some data to look at and we'll try again in FP3.' A large number of fans from Northern Ireland make the trip to Donington annually to support Rea and the record 119-time race winner is eager to give them something to cheer. 'It's going to be great to have good home support and a lot of travelling support from Northern Ireland and it's my team's home race as well,' he said. 'So, a lot to get excited for and let's hope we can be closer to the sharp end and fight where both the bike and the team deserve.' Alex Lowes was third fastest for the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team ahead of brother Sam (Elf Marc VDS Racing Ducati) and reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad). Italian Bulega, who holds a slender title lead of nine points over Razgatlioglu, crashed at the Foggy Esses but still managed to post the quickest time. Bulega said: 'I tried to make the corner a bit faster. I understand what the limit is, so this is the most important thing. 'When you crash, you have to understand why. It was a good session because my feeling was good. I tried to push from the first lap. I needed to find the limit immediately. 'We did some work in the second run, but the bike wasn't perfect, so I'll try to improve tomorrow. 'It impacted my session a little bit because I wasn't able to follow my programme. 'We stopped our work a little bit inside the garage. Thanks to my mechanics because they repaired the bike really fast.' Saturday's opening race at the East Midlands venue is at 3pm, with the Superpole race on Sunday at 11am, followed by the final race of the seventh round at 2pm.

Two aftermarket firms teamed up to make it happen The current Land Rover Defender 90 is just as capable off-road as the classic models it replaced, but unlike those Defenders of yore, it's not available as a convertible. British firm Urban Automotive and Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs—recently merged under parent company AM Group—have an aftermarket alternative. Debuting at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Urban Widetrack Heritage Series Soft-Top combines Heritage Customs' Valiance soft-top conversion for the Defender with one of Urban Automotive's carbon-fiber body kits. It's the first convertible modified by Urban Automotive, which specializes in high-end models from brands like Land Rover and Rolls-Royce. Defenders That Land Rover Won't Build Source: Urban Automotive Heritage Customs offers forged wheels, accessories, and custom interiors, but its most ambitious projects are the Defender 90-based Valiance convertible and the Defender 130-based Valiance pickup. For the convertible, the donor car's chassis is reinforced with a custom roll cage to account for the loss of rigidity from removing some bodywork. Valiance convertibles were already available in limited numbers, but this one got additional customization from Urban. It wears the company's Widetrack fender flares, XRS (Extreme Road Series) vented hood, and some smaller items, including carbon-fiber mirror caps, lower front canards, and additional square daytime running lights. It rolls on black 23-inch wheels that match the paint and most of the exterior trim. In contrast to the darkened exterior, the interior features riotous Hermes Orange leather upholstery, with Recaro front seats. The orange leather even covers the roll cage and a custom dashboard overlay. Urban Automotive Expands Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. Founded in 2014, Urban Automotive specializes in modifying luxury vehicles in what the company calls an 'OEM+' manner, trying to match the quality of factory builds. That approach is apparently resonating with customers looking to modify their cars, as Urban is rapidly expanding to meet what the company says is increasing demand. In addition to the merger with Heritage Customers, Urban recently acquired a 42,000-square-foot facility in the United Kingdom and a warehouse and distribution facility in the United States. It's also continuing to launch new builds and products. It displayed a newly-modified Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II and Range Rover Sport alongside the Defender convertible at Goodwood. Christian Horner's likeliest next F1 move named and two reasons it's not Ferrari

Christian Horner has been tipped to join an F1 backmarker team rather than Ferrari following his shock dismissal by Red Bull after 20 years in charge of the team The prospect of Christian Horner joining Ferrari has been dismissed for two key reasons. Horner's stint as Red Bull team principal came to an abrupt end when he was sacked this week, closing a 20-year era during which he steered the team to 14 world championships. Parent company Red Bull GmbH announced Horner's immediate release without citing a reason. His departure came 17 months after he was accused by a female staff member of "inappropriate behaviour". Horner always denied the claims and was cleared of any wrongdoing following two investigations. ‌ Horner, 51, is widely expected to return to the F1 paddock at some stage, with a potential blockbuster move to Ferrari being rumoured. Horner's name has previously been connected with the iconic Italian outfit, with company chairman Ferrari chairman John Elkann approaching him in 2022. ‌ However, Ferrari appointed Fred Vasseur as their team leader, who now faces intense scrutiny due to the squad's lacklustre performance so far this season. That led to Horner-to-Ferrari speculation resurfacing earlier this summer. However, Sky Sports pundit and ex-F1 driver Karun Chandhok has cited Horner's apparent reluctance to relocate to Italy and the fact that design guru Adrian Newey won't be joining him as reasons why the move won't happen. Ferrari wanted Newey following his decision to quit Red Bull last year amid increasing tension with Horner. But he joined Aston as a managing technical partner while also acquiring a stake in the Silverstone-based outfit. ‌ Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Chandhok said: "I think the combination of Horner and Newey was a much more attractive package for Ferrari." Chandhok believes a move to Alpine, where Horner's friend Flavio Briatore runs the team as executive advisor, is more likely. He added: "I can see him landing at Alpine more than I can see him landing at Ferrari. ‌ "At his stage in life, does he want to uproot everything? The commute to Enstone (where Alpine are based) is pretty much the same as the one to Milton Keynes (Red Bull's base)." Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz can also see Horner joining Renault-owned Alpine, who sit at the foot of the constructors' standings. He said: "Much better if he thought Alpine was an option, another British-based team with Flavio there, with a team that's very like Red Bull. ‌ "A lot of people in Entone are ex-Red Bull and vice versa. That would be a much easier place for him to go. "The Ferrari option, as tempting as it might have been, especially a few months ago, knowing what was going to happen (with his Red Bull exit)... but I think he'd already made his mind up not to do Ferrari and if Alpine is an option, that's a much better way to go." Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle also sees Horner potentially joining Alpine, but suggested he may want more than just the role of team principal. He said: "I think Christian will be desperate to get a stake in a team going forward and have some ownership rather than be a hired hand. He obviously won't be able to do that (ownership) at Ferrari, as entertaining as that job might be."
