JPJ: Temporary travel pass bearing Pahang JPJ director's name fake
Pahang JPJ clarified that the such a permit bearing its director's name was fake and real temporary travel permits can be applied for at state JPJ counters or branches without requiring the director's signature.
'The Pahang JPJ has found fake documents misusing the name of the department and the Pahang JPJ director. The department is serious about tackling the issue of falsifying documents and misusing names.
'A police report has been lodged yesterday and stern legal action will be taken against any party involved to protect public interest,' the department said in a statement tonight.
The department also advised the public to be cautious when engaging in the sale or purchase of vehicles, especially on platforms or from unverified sources, adding that complaints can be made to the department about any offer or claims by third parties about its services. — Bernama

The deceased were identified as Chong Ong, 77; Teh Kim Kai, 76; and Tan Ah Tak, 70. "The crash involved a Toyota Vios and a Proton X50. One man in the Vios was injured, while five men were in the X50 - two were injured and three died at the scene,' he said in a statement. The injured were handed over to medical personnel, while the deceased were confirmed dead at the scene and referred to the police for further action. KL mayor denies bias in removal of hawker stalls for road project
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif said there were no elements of bias in the treatment of local hawkers and vendors in Desa Pandan. Her remarks follow public criticism and a recent enforcement operation to remove illegal hawker stalls as part of a planned road-widening project in the area. She said the authorities had taken action based on public complaints and data collected since 2017 regarding proposals to widen roads in the area. Maimunah added that she had personally contacted Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani on the matter. Johari had earlier questioned whether Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) needed to demolish nine hawker stalls in Desa Pandan to make way for the expansion. She said the matter had also been discussed with DBKL and that some alternative solutions had been proposed. 'We may visit the stall owners tomorrow to assess the situation on the ground. 'As for claims of bias, we are not. Our actions are based on data, suggestions, and plans that have been in place for some time. The plan for the road was proposed back in 2017 after public complaints about the area being too tight and congested. 'Studies were conducted, and alternatives were considered for both road users and pedestrians. Since then, we've held four meetings with the local community,' Maimunah told reporters after a visit to the Kuala Lumpur Command Centre near Bukit Jalil today. 'We acknowledge there was initial resistance. There are currently nine stalls involved, and if anything needs to be done, we will discuss it with them. 'Again, we are not biased. We're simply looking at it from a technical and data-driven perspective, including traffic impact studies and feasibility assessments for the road. 'Let's see how things unfold. If there's no resolution, we're prepared to return to the drawing board,' she said. On July 15, Bernama reported that a man was arrested after going on a rampage and swinging a machete at enforcement officers during an operation to demolish illegal structures in Desa Pandan. A video of the man acting aggressively towards the police went viral. Yesterday, Izat Saini @ Zaini, 43, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrates' Court to a charge of using criminal force by brandishing a machete to intimidate public servants.

MACC records statements from 27 witnesses in scrap metal smuggling probe
MACC's special operations division senior director Zamri Zainul Abidin said the agency is now inspecting the finances of the suspects and companies. PETALING JAYA : The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has recorded statements from 27 witnesses following an operation against e-waste and scrap metal smuggling syndicates in five states. The syndicates are believed to have bribed enforcement officials, resulting in an estimated tax revenue loss of over RM950 million in the last six years. A source said MACC also recorded a statement from a suspect believed to be involved in the syndicates' activities, but no arrests have been made so far. MACC froze 324 bank accounts of 142 companies and 182 individuals, involving a total value of almost RM150 million. It also seized about RM183 million in assets. 'Overall, the assets seized and accounts frozen amount to over RM332 million,' said the source. MACC's special operations division senior director Zamri Zainul Abidin confirmed the matter and said the commission is still identifying the suspects involved. He said MACC is inspecting the finances of the suspects and companies, with cooperation from the Inland Revenue Board, the customs department, and Bank Negara Malaysia. 'Besides the investigations under Sections 16 and 18 of the MACC Act 2009 (for bribery and false claims) and money laundering activities, investigations are ongoing under the Income Tax Act 1967 and Customs Act 1967 by the agencies involved,' he said.
