Alpha IVF opens satellite clinic in Surabaya, its second in Indonesia
The expansion forms part of the group's initial public offering roadmap to establish four satellite clinics in Indonesia, strengthening its regional growth strategy and deepening its footprint in the country, which is one of the group's fastest-growing international markets.
Group managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee Soon Soo said Surabaya was strategically chosen to expand the company's reach into East and Central Java, where it sees strong potential for growth in fertility treatment.
'Our first satellite clinic in Jakarta began showing results in less than three months of operations, which gives us strong confidence in the scalability and effectiveness of our satellite model.
'We believe the Surabaya clinic will build on this momentum and further increase patient referrals to our flagship centres in Malaysia,' he said in a statement.
The new clinic is strategically located within the Womba Women's and Children Specialist Clinic in Surabaya.
Situatedin the heart of East Java, Surabaya – the second largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta – was selected to meet the growing demand for assisted reproductive services across the region, including nearby urban centres such as Solo, Semarang and Yogyakarta.
The clinic will serve as a key referral and patient coordination centre, offering initial consultations and fertility assessments, while seamlessly connecting patients to Alpha IVF's flagship centres in Malaysia for comprehensive treatment.
Alpha IVF's first Indonesian satellite clinic, located in Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, commenced operations in May and has already shown encouraging results. In less than three months, 29 couples have been referred to the group's Malaysia-based centres, demonstrating early validation of the group's regional strategy.
Alpha IVF expects its Indonesia-based satellite clinics, including those in Jakarta and Surabaya, to make a meaningful contribution to cross-border patient volume and revenue growth.
Apart from Indonesia, Alpha IVF currently operates in Malaysia, Singapore and China.
The group has pioneered numerous innovations leading to improved pregnancy rates and is actively involved in utilising advanced artificial intelligence technology to enhance embryo selection for higher IVF success rates.

Changes to 13MP weren't out of nowhere, says ministry

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The changes made to the 13th Malaysia Plan following Rafizi Ramli's resignation as economy minister were not sudden, according to the government. The economy ministry said the amendments were instead part of its measures to ensure the 13MP was aligned with the Madani economy's aspirations. 'The changes and amendments made to the 13MP draft were not sudden in nature or outside of our planning. 'The preparation of the 13MP, meant for the next five years, was executed based on necessity following holistic negotiation processes involving all stakeholders,' it said in a written parliamentary reply. The ministry said 'overhauls and revisions' were made throughout the document's preparation to ensure every view and proposal received was taken into account while staying true to the government's main policies. It was replying to Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran), who had asked what drastic policy changes necessitated the 13MP being amended at the last minute. Kiandee, a Bersatu vice-president, was referring to the announcement on June 27 that finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan was given the duties of the economy portfolio and tasked with amending and overhauling the 13MP. Amir had said he received 'a lot of feedback' from other ministers which necessitated an overhaul of the 13MP. Rafizi questioned why the 13MP needed to be revamped. However, he later said he was happy that nearly all the major policy reforms he had included were retained in the tabled version of the document.

Moscow ready to welcome arrival of Sultan Ibrahim for state visit
MOSCOW: Moscow is ready to welcome the arrival of His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia who will begin his maiden state visit to Russia starting Tuesday (Aug 5) until August 10. Malaysian Ambassador to Russia Datuk Cheong Loon Lai said Sultan Ibrahim expressed hope that the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday (Aug 6) could open a new chapter in Malaysia-Russia bilateral relations. "His Majesty also expressed hope that the two leaders can hold productive discussions, especially on matters of mutual interest," he told Bernama here. Cheong said Sultan Ibrahim also admired the historical and technological values in Russia, and had even established many interactions with the country in the fields of trade and investment since His Majesty's reign as the Sultan of Johor. "His Majesty also shares the same interests as President Putin, such as horse riding," he said. This visit at the invitation of President Putin is considered historic and meaningful because it is the first state visit by a Malaysian Head of State to Russia since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1967. Two locations for the visit in Moscow, namely the Russian Automotive Technology Development Center (Nami) and the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Center, are also ready to welcome Sultan Ibrahim's arrival. "His Majesty will visit Nami to inspect and explore Russian automotive technology, particularly in the field of research and development. "This visit provides an opportunity for His Majesty to see first-hand the advancement of Russian technology given His Majesty's deep interest in the automotive industry," said Cheong. The visit to Tochka Kipeniya, he said, also provides an opportunity for Malaysia to explore innovative Russian solutions in the field of drone and robotics development through artificial intelligence (AI) applications for public use, security, defence, environment, space projects and biodrones. Earlier, Cheong attended a briefing session on the national celebration event at the Kremlin, the location of Sultan Ibrahim's official meeting with President Putin. Also present at the session were the Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Datuk Yubazlan Yusof, Chief of Government Ceremonies, Prime Minister's Department Datuk Rozainor Ramli and the Grand Chamberlain of Istana Negara Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini. Sultan Ibrahim departed from the Royal Malaysian Air Force Air Base in Subang at 8.55am (Malaysian time) and is scheduled to arrive here on Tuesday. Backbencher laments absence of affordable homes in Sibu

(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : A backbencher has urged the government to build affordable housing projects in Sibu, Sarawak, under the 13th Malaysia Plan, saying that there are no such homes in the constituency. DAP's Oscar Ling (PH-Sibu) said there have been no affordable housing projects developed by the federal government in Sibu to date. Oscar Ling. 'The only affordable housing project under the housing and local government is in Sibu Jaya and that can be considered abandoned,' he told the Dewan Rakyat during the debate on the 13MP today. 'My constituents are asking whether this project will continue under the 13MP. 'We cannot allow Sibu to be left behind in the national housing agenda.' Ling said many in the lower- and middle-income groups in Sibu were waiting for affordable homes He suggested that Putrajaya consider building affordable homes in Sungai Bidut in Sibu's West Bank area. He said the West Bank had great potential for development, citing a recent state government project to build a bridge connecting the area with the Sibu city centre. Sibu Hospital in dire need of upgrades The three-term MP also said Sibu Hospital was nearly at maximum capacity, pointing out that it serves as the main hospital for referrals in Sarawak's entire central region. 'The hospital is facing space limitations and insufficient facilities. The demand for specialist services is increasing year-on-year,' he said. Ling called for the 13MP to include a new building for the hospital in line with plans to turn it into a regional hospital like the Miri Hospital, and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in Kuching. He said radiotherapy treatment services were currently only available at SGH, forcing cancer patients from areas like Kapit and Song to incur high travel and accommodation costs to receive treatment. He also said it was time for Sibu Hospital to have its own oncology department equipped with the necessary facilities as well as human resources and treatment capabilities. 'This can only be achieved if a new Sibu Hospital building is built with specific plans to accommodate such facilities,' he said.
