Cubs' Kyle Tucker, Ryan Pressly return to Daikin Park for first time since Astros traded them
HOUSTON (AP) — Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly returned to Daikin Park on Friday for the first time since the Houston Astros traded them to the Chicago Cubs during the offseason and were greeted by a video tribute before the start of the game.
The two stepped out of the Cubs dugout and tipped their caps to the fans while getting a standing ovation.
'Obviously, we are here to do our job and win some games, but it's nice to at least catch up with some of the guys over there that I played with for awhile and been around, so it is cool in that sense' Tucker said earlier.
A three-time All-Star right fielder eligible for free agency after the season, the 28-year-old Tucker is hitting .287 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs. He was swapped in December for outfielder Cam Smith, infielder Isaac Paredes and right fielder Hayden Wesneski.
Pressly, a 36-year-old right-hander, is 2-2 with five saves and a 3.90 ERA. The two-time All-Star closer was dealt in January for minor league right-hander Juan Bello.
Tucker was part of Astros teams that reached six straight AL Championship Series and caught the final out of the 2022 World Series against Philadelphia.
'There's a lot of really good memories here,' Tucker said. 'We had a lot of success playing in this city and on this field. It's cool. The biggest thing is being around the guys in those moments.'
Pressly earned the save in Game 6 of the 2022 World Series.

'A lot of memories were made out on that field,' Pressly said. 'A lot of lifetime friendships made on the other side as well. I always root for these guys. They were great teammates. I was super fortunate and blessed to share a clubhouse with a couple of those guys who are pretty much legends over there in this city.'
Houston entered an AL West-best 48-33 record, identical to the record of the NL Central-leading Cubs.
'Every time they lose someone, they always seem to replace them with someone who is really good and kind of pick up the baton right behind them and keep winning. It's what they've been doing for the past decade now,' Pressly said of the Astros. 'It was fun to watch when I was on the team, but now that I'm not on the team, it's not fun to watch. It's always been a good team. It's going to be fun.'

BAD HOMBURG, Germany (AP) — Top-seeded Jessica Pegula beat five-time major champion Iga Swiatek 6-4, 7-5 on Saturday to win the grass-court Bad Homburg Open, extending Swiatek's year-long title drought. Pegula clinched her third title of 2025 — with the others in Austin, Texas, and Charleston, South Carolina — and it was the ninth title of the 31-year-old American's career. Swiatek was seeded fourth at the WTA 500 tournament in Germany, where the 24-year-old Pole sought her first trophy since the 2024 French Open and a 23rd overall. In their 11th career meeting, but first on grass, Pegula won for the fifth time overall. Pegula beat Swiatek in the quarterfinals at last year's U.S. Open, where she finished the runner-up. Although Swiatek hit nine aces in Saturday's final, she also dropped her serve twice. Pegula saved the only break point she faced and won a higher percentage of points on first and second serve. The former No.1-ranked Swiatek has won four French Open titles and one U.S. Open, but has never been beyond the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Attendance at games has increased since the team's 2023 run to the World Series, where the Diamondbacks lost to the Texas Rangers. This season they are averaging 31,420 fans per game — the highest in two decades. 'I'm not going to let Arizona lose the Diamondbacks,' Hobbs said Friday on the social platform X. Derrick Hall, president and CEO of the Diamondbacks, praised the governor and said the team will now turn its attention to extending its lease with Maricopa County. The bill cleared the Legislature June 23 after months of debate that included the question of whether the Diamondbacks could potentially leave unless a public funding deal was reached. The Oakland A's, for example, complained for years about the Oakland Coliseum and an inability to gain government assistance for a new ballpark. Now the team is bound for Las Vegas, where a groundbreaking ceremony was held this month for a $1.75 billion ballpark that is expected to be completed in time for the 2028 season. Nevada and Clark County approved up to $380 million in public funds for the project. And last year voters in Jackson County, Missouri, rejected an attempt to extend a sales tax that would have helped fund a ballpark for the Kansas City Royals and stadium renovations for the Kansas City Chiefs. Lawmakers in Kansas are trying to lure the teams with government subsidies, and Missouri is trying to keep them with its own financial incentives. The Diamondbacks have spent nearly three decades in their downtown ballpark, which is owned by the Maricopa County Stadium District. In 2017, the team sued the district over funding for repairs and sought to remove a contractual clause preventing the team from looking into other stadium options. A perennial problem has been the park's air conditioning system and its ability to keep it cool in triple-digit summer heat, Hall said. Fans of country music star Morgan Wallen bemoaned the heat at a 2023 summer concert there, despite the retractable roof being closed. Concession stands ran out of water, and some people simply left. Chase Field was one of the first MLB stadiums to have a retractable roof. Now seven out of the 30 teams play under one, including the Brewers, Blue Jays, Rangers, Marlins, Astros and Mariners. The funding from the Legislature will not mean upgrades to the pool or to stadium suites, the latter of which was a sticking point for Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. She got on board after the bill was updated to prevent funds from being used for suites and a cap was placed on how much money the city would contribute for a land deal should the Diamondbacks break from the Stadium District, according to Gallego chief of staff Seth Scott. Hobbs is running for reelection, and while it's too early to say whether the Diamondbacks funding will be part of her campaign messaging, it's another bipartisan win, her campaign spokesperson Michael Beyer said. Democratic state Sen. Mitzi Epstein, who voted against the funding, said Hobbs' support for the bill was wrong and hurtful for Arizonans. France top scorer Eugénie Le Sommer joins Mexican club Toluca
TOLUCA, Mexico (AP) — France all-time leading scorer Eugénie Le Sommer has signed a contract to play for Mexican club Toluca, where she will reunite with former Lyon coach Patrice Lair. The 36-year-old forward parted ways with Lyon in May after 15 seasons and wasn't chosen for the national team for the Women's European Championship. Toluca, located near Mexico City, said late Friday that Le Sommer has joined for the upcoming Liga MX Apertura season. Le Sommer's former France and Lyon teammate Amandine Henry also plays for Toluca. The defensive midfielder joined last year. Le Sommer has scored 94 international goals in 200 appearances for France.
