Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday stayed a lower court's order that directed former minister and
NCP
neta Dhananjay Munde to pay interim maintenance to a woman who claims to be his first wife subject to him depositing 50% of the amount in court.
Justice Manjusha Deshpande directed the stay on the April 5 order of a sessions court that had upheld a magistrate's order. On Feb 4, the magistrate had directed Munde to pay the woman Rs 1.25 lakh per month and Rs 75,000 per month to their daughter under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence (DV) Act.
Munde's petition said he has been legally married to his wife since 2001 and they have three children. He denied marrying the woman (complainant) and said the DV Act is not applicable in this case. He said she was aware of his marital status when they entered into a relationship. The woman claimed she married Munde in 1999. tnn

Cabinet clears ₹24,000 cr for PM Dhan Dhaanya Yojana to boost farm output

The Union Cabinet today cleared the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), which seeks to raise the agricultural profile of 100 selected districts with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore, to be provided through convergence of existing schemes. At least one district will be selected from each state for the scheme, with the aim of bringing their crop yields, credit penetration, and other metrics up to national levels. There will be no additional allocation for PMDDKY; funds for the programme will be provided through convergence of 36 existing schemes spread across 11 ministries. These include schemes from the ministries of agriculture, food, animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries, finance, rural development, cooperation, and irrigation, among others. The programme has been modelled on the lines of the aspirational districts programme of NITI Aayog and was announced in the 2025–26 Union Budget. Detailing the programme, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said the basic objective is to enhance agricultural productivity, increase adoption of crop diversification, augment post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels, and facilitate the availability of long-term and short-term credit. Vaishnaw said the 100-odd districts will be selected on the basis of three major criteria: low crop productivity, moderate crop density, and below-average credit penetration. He said each selected district will devise a district-wise agriculture and allied activities plan. The plan will be prepared by a committee under the District Collector. The panel will also undertake extensive consultation, understand the cropping pattern and allied activities under the agro-climatic conditions. There will be committees at the state level and a national-level monitoring committee to oversee the programme. NITI Aayog will provide overall guidance and handholding for the scheme, while Central and state agriculture universities will be assigned to each district as technical knowledge partners. 'State governments will be equal partners in the programme,' said Vaishnaw. NITI Aayog would also rank the districts based on their performance, as it does under the aspirational districts programme.

Live Events Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana In addition to these, the Union Cabinet also gave its nod to the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana. It will be applicable for six years, beginning 2025-26, to cover 100 districts. It draws inspiration from NITI Aayog's Aspirational District Programme, focusing exclusively on agriculture and allied sectors, an official statement said. Enhancing agricultural productivity, increasing adoption of crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices are among the goals. Augmenting post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block levels, improving irrigation facilities and facilitating availability of long-term and short-term credit are also the deliverables. 'The scheme will be implemented through convergence of 36 existing ones across 11 Departments, other State schemes and local partnerships with the private sector,' the statement said. NIRL Listing The NLC investment is further exempt from the 30% net worth ceiling stipulated by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) for overall investment by central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) in joint ventures and subsidiaries. This is expected to provide NLCIL and NIRL greater operational and financial flexibility. Officials said all of NLC India's renewable energy assets will be transferred to NIRL. 'The NLC India Board plans to list NIRL on the exchanges, parting up to 49% equity in tranches,' an official aware of the plan told ET. NLC India has seven renewable energy assets with a total installed capacity of 2 GW, which are either operational or close to commercial operation.
