Monochrome Monday: The Orange Slice Edition

CairoScene14-04-2025
If your wardrobe is missing a dose of serotonin, consider this your sign to go full 'orange slice'.
Orange isn't for the faint of heart - it's for the ones who walk into a room and own it. It's the colour of sun-drenched afternoons, Aperol spritzes on the Riviera, and that Hermès packaging that make unboxing feel like an event. It's playful but powerful, a shade that's flirted with every era, from '60s mod minis to '70s disco glam, all the way to Gen Z's love affair with sunset hues.
This week, we're taking a deep dive into citrus territory with pieces that prove orange is more than just a pop of colour (for those who dare). Flowing kaftans that move like a summer breeze? Check. Crystal-embellished pumps that deserve their own spotlight? Absolutely. A swipe of dewy tangerine blush to pull it all together? You already know. So whether you're ready to go all-in or just dip your toes into the tangerine-tinted waters, this Monochrome Monday is here to make sure you do it right.

The clash of fiery satin and glistening crystal bows is pure spectacle, turning every step into a statement. The sculptural heel and razor-sharp pointed toe add an edge to the whimsy. Honest the Label | Manis Dress

A riot of colour and movement, this maxi dress is the wearable version of a golden hour glow. Farm Rio never shies away from a bold print, and this one is practically made for twirling in a sun-drenched piazza. Kaf by Kaf | Peach Kaftan
This draped, painterly kaftan is what happens when comfort meets fashion. The subtle sheen and earthy tones make it feel almost royal, like a modern take on something a desert queen would casually lounge in. Etr | Holly & Ivy Bag
A handbag that looks like it belongs in an old Italian film, this piece is structured, sophisticated, and a little mysterious. The mix of textures and deep orange tones make it feel timeless yet completely fresh. Dima Ayad | Linen Embroidered Sequin Cocoon with Belt
This cocoon-shaped beauty drapes like a dream, with subtle sequin embroidery catching the light just enough to dazzle. Crafted from light-weight linen, the piece is adorned with wide, billowy sleeves, as well as an optional belt for a cinched moment. Glossier | Cloud Paint in Dawn
A sunlit flush in a tube, Glossier's Cloud Paint in Dawn is the perfect balance between a just-pinched glow and a painterly wash of tangerine. The gel-cream formula melts into the skin for that effortless, dewy warmth, like golden hour bottled up for your cheeks. Carolina Herrera | Beaded Ball Dome Earrings in Marigold
If the sun's energy could be embodied into jewellery, it would look like this. These tangerine-hued statement earrings bring texture, volume, and a playful nod to the '60s, ideal for anyone who likes their accessories loud and luminous.

Pharaohs' Treasures Exhibition to Open in Rome Following Egypt-Italy Cooperation Agreement

Ali abo deshish As part of strengthening cultural ties between Egypt and Italy—particularly in the field of archaeology—Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Mr. Fabio Taliaferri, Chairman of ALES (Ministry of Culture, Italy), have signed a cooperation agreement to organize the temporary exhibition 'Pharaohs' Treasures', set to open on October 24, 2025, at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Italian Ambassador to Cairo, Michele Quaroni; Dr. Moamen Othman, Head of the Museums Sector in Egypt; Simone Todorov de San Giorgio, Executive Director of Mondo Mostre; and Matteo Lafranconi, Director of Scuderie del Quirinale. Dr. Khaled emphasized the significance of this cultural collaboration, praising the longstanding ties between Egypt and Italy. He noted that the exhibition serves as a cultural gateway that highlights the richness of ancient Egyptian civilization and strengthens global appreciation for human heritage. 'Pharaohs' Treasures' will be the second largest Egyptian exhibition ever held in Italy, featuring 130 carefully selected artifacts from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and the Museum of Art in Luxor. The display will explore themes including kingship, the royal court, religious beliefs, daily life, funerary rituals, and the afterlife. The exhibition will run until May 2026, offering Italian and international visitors an extended opportunity to experience the grandeur of ancient Egypt. Among the highlights are artifacts being displayed in Italy for the first time, such as: • The golden coffin of Queen Iahhotep, a masterpiece of New Kingdom funerary art. • The funerary mask of King Amenemope, symbolizing divine kingship and eternal life. • The Triad of King Menkaure, a monumental Old Kingdom statue representing the king flanked by deities Hathor and the local god of Thebes. • The golden coffin of Tuya, grandmother of Akhenaten, adorned with hieroglyphs narrating her journey to the afterlife. • The legendary Golden Fly Necklace of Queen Ahmose Nefertari, an ancient military honor awarded to Egypt's bravest warriors. The exhibition will also delve into ancient Egyptian society, divine kingship, craftsmanship, and recent archaeological discoveries. From imposing statues of Ramses VI and Thutmose III to intricate royal jewelry and daily tools, the showcase reveals the artistic, spiritual, and historical brilliance of one of the world's most captivating civilizations. A special section will highlight the 'Lost Golden City', one of the most important archaeological discoveries in recent years. Excavations revealed a large residential complex from the reign of Amenhotep III and Akhenaten, offering unparalleled insights into the daily lives of artisans and their families. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Egypt's Akaoui Doesn't Follow Trends. It Crafts Timeless Jewellery.

Egypt's Akaoui Doesn't Follow Trends. It Crafts Timeless Jewellery. For four generations, Akaoui has practiced not just design, but devotion. What began as a modest jewellery shop in the Levantine port city of Akka—where the family once traded gemstones along salt-lined trade routes—has evolved into a fine jewellery house known for restraint, precision, and permanence. Today, the brand's legacy continues to unfold, one piece at a time. 'We don't follow trends,' a member of the Akaoui family tells SceneStyled. 'We create timeless beauty.' Each ring, bracelet, and pendant begins in Italy, in workshops where hand engraving and filigree are still practiced daily. 'Many of our pieces come from small ateliers where passion and tradition guide the process,' they explain. 'It's not just about luxury—it's about meaning.' Their latest collection draws from botany in both structure and setting. Pieces are photographed against ferns, petals, bark. A cuff mirrors the curve of an orchid. A pendant mimics the line of a cactus spine. Gemstones are set to catch the light like dew. These references to the natural world underline the brand's quiet philosophy: jewellery should grow into you, not just sit on you. 'Every piece we curate is more than just jewellery,' they add. 'It's a story.' And the story runs deep—through four generations of artisans, workshops, and hands that continue to shape each piece with intention. The effect is quietly exacting. Minuscule indentations, layered stones, and textures that refuse uniformity. Not bling, but craft. Not spectacle, but signal. 'When someone wears an Akaoui piece,' they say, 'we want them to feel like they're carrying something that truly speaks to them.' The brand continues to balance tradition and evolution—Italian technique and Egyptian soul. 'Egyptian jewellery is changing in an exciting way, blending heritage with new ideas,' they note. 'Akaoui is part of that shift, bringing high-quality design that honours where we come from and where we're going.' This is jewellery built for memory, not momentum. Each piece is an heirloom in the making—etched with history, shaped by hand, and worn with quiet conviction.
