Lucid recalls more than 4,000 vehicles for floor mats that may interfere with accelerator

Lucid Motors is recalling 4,294 vehicles over floor mats that could move and interfere with the accelerator returning to idle, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a March 24 report.
The recall covers the company's All-Weather Floor Mats in the Lucid Air.
Lucid is not aware of any crashes or accidents resulting from the defect, the report said.

If the mats on the driver's side of the vehicle move out of position, they could interfere with the accelerator, increasing the risk of a crash, the report said. The mats can shift because they are secured to the floor by nibs, rather than anchors.
Visscher Caravelle, based in the Netherlands, manufactures the mats, according to the NHTSA documents.
The issue was noticed in August 2024 when a Lucid employee reported that the accelerator pedal had been momentarily stuck while driving.
Lucid will refund the cost of the floor mats to those affected. Those under the recall can remove the mats from their vehicle. For those with vehicle models that have mat anchors, they can purchase a version of the mats with holes to fit around the anchors.
'The safety of our customers and their families is the highest priority,' a Lucid spokesperson said in an email to Automotive News. 'Lucid has begun contacting the owners of vehicles for which these mats were originally designed to notify them of the recalls and to provide further information.'
Lucid has not sold this version of the floor mats since February. Dealers were notified of the recall March 24. Owners will be notified May 23.

More than 300,000 Fords just got recalled for a brake issue you can't ignore

Ford is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles over concerns that problems with the power brake assist system could lead to a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the safety notice, noting that the issue could extend stopping distances for a vehicle in motion. The affected vehicles are 2025 versions of Ford's Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger. According to the NHTSA, the vehicles might also experience malfunctions in the electronic brake booster (EBB) module when using the advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature, which could similarly interfere with the power brake assist system and cause an accident. For affected vehicles, the EBB issue can be resolved with an over-the-air software update or at a dealer for free. The new recall is the latest in a spate of recent recalls for the auto maker. In July, Ford recalled almost 700,000 vehicles over a fuel leak problem that could cause a fire under the hood. That recall, which impacted some Bronco Sport and Ford Escape models, was the result of a yearlong investigation into ongoing problems with the vehicles' fuel injectors. Just prior to that, an even wider recall was issued over worries about the low-pressure fuel pump on more than 850,000 Ford vehicles. Car recalls are on the rise broadly, but Ford's issues stand out. The manufacturer tops the list for the most vehicle recalls in the U.S., though the company's leadership hopes to nip future issues in the bud by holding new vehicles for an extra phase of quality checks. 'What we're going to see long term is fewer recalls and lower warranty costs because of this new process,' Ford CEO Jim Farley said in an earnings call last year. Ford recalls almost 700,000 vehicles over fuel injector faults

Ford Motor is recalling approximately 700,000 vehicles due to a fuel leak risk that could cause a fire inside the vehicle's engine. Fuel injectors inside certain Bronco and Escape models could crack and leak fuel into the engine compartment, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Tuesday. Ford is working on a fix for the issue but in the meantime, dealers will provide an engine update to affected vehicles for free, the regulator said. No injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, according to the NHTSA. Ford has had numerous recalls this year — more than any other carmaker ever in a calendar year, the Wall Street Journal reported. All rights reserved) According to the paper, Ford states that a third of its recent recalls have been issued as a result of a continuing audit or to follow up on past recalls that used software fixes to quickly address an issue. In other words, the high number of recalls is because Ford is actively working to identify and rectify problems in its vehicles, according to the company. Ford has more than doubled its team of safety experts in an effort to improve its vehicles' quality, according to the WSJ. By the end of June, Ford had issued 88 safety recalls. Last week, the company announced another recall for 850,000 pickup trucks and SUVs due to a potential fuel-pump issue that could stall the engine. The most recent recall affects approximately 694,000 vehicles, including Bronco Sport models from 2021 to 2024 and Escape models between 2020 and 2022. 'The recall includes an interim software update, which will help detect cracked injectors and mitigate fire risk,' the company said in a statement. Ford estimated that its likely to take a $750 million hit in its second financial quarter due to the recall.

Ford recalls 312K vehicles over loss of brake power that can increase crash risk

Ford is recalling over 312,000 US vehicles over a defect with with their brakes that can increase the risk of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday. The issue involves an unexpected voltage disturbance, which may cause a current surge that shuts down a brake booster motor in the vehicle and leads to a loss of braking power, increasing the distance before a complete stop can be reached. Certain 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco and Ranger models are included in the recall. Ford is recalling over 312,000 US vehicles over a loss of brake power assist. Dolores Harvey – The automaker estimates about 1% of 312,120 recalled units have the defect, or about 3,121 cars. Ford said it is aware of one alleged low-speed crash related to the defect, as well as 37 warranty claims associated with the malfunction. It is not aware of any injuries or fires due to a loss of brake power. If drivers experience a loss in brake power assist, the digital instrument cluster will show a message and lit-up symbols.
