Bored mums in clothes shops of the world unite! Together we could be unstoppable

If there is a solidarity on Earth tighter than 'bored middle-aged mothers in a clothes shop', I don't know what it is. Whether in Primark, Urban Outfitters or H&M, the crowd is always the same: some teens are in gangs and they are having a fine old time; others, sometimes in sibling pairs, are with their mum, presumably because they have yet to find a way to detach her from her credit card. It's like that bit in an action movie where you need a guy's fingerprint to open a vault, so you cut off his arm, except, regrettably, in this case, they have to take the entire body. Some of us are too hot; others are too embarrassing to be believed and have been told that multiple times between each clothes rack. But the main thing we have in common is that we are all incredibly bored. It's one of those things about youth that I don't miss at all, along with paralysing social anxiety and blackheads: the ability to parse the difference between one T-shirt and another for hours; to look at the same pair of jeans for 15 minutes straight, your imagination running riot over what they might look like across every jumper combination and landscape. This is not a spectator sport, yet spectate you must, because ultimately you will have to give a view, so that, whatever you say, they can do the opposite. Last time, I tried on a load of stuff myself, just to be subversive – a velvet revolution, if you like, except whatever that highly flammable material was, I don't think it was velvet. What I really want to do is amass the mums and create a norm of spontaneous chat, some cross between a salon and the earliest days of the trade union movement. It's so obvious from looking around how much we would find to talk about. We don't want to be mean about our kids, obviously – we want to talk about ideas, describe our feminist awakenings, swap recipes; maybe someone could bring finger food. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to do this. Zoe Williams is a Guardian columnist Do you have an opinion on the issues raised in this article? BBC reignites nepo baby row as it's revealed Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais will host new podcast series ahead of Oasis' reunion tour

BBC has reignited its nepo-baby row by revealing that Noel Gallagher 's daughter Anais will front a new podcast series. Ahead of Oasis much-anticipated reunion tour, Mad For Oasis will tell the stories of their music through the eyes of the superfans. Anais, 25, who is Noel's oldest child with ex Meg Matthews, will explore the band's lasting impact in the series, with the first episode already available on BBC Sounds. Speaking about the new show, Anais said: 'Obviously, Oasis have always been a big part of my life. 'But to have the opportunity to hear these incredible stories from people about how their music has impacted their lives, has been amazing. I'm thrilled to be a part of it.' Chris Burns, Head of Local Audio Commissioning said: 'Whether it's your favourite band reuniting, your football team winning, or losing, our BBC teams live and breathe the rollercoaster of local life with our audiences. 'BBC Radio Manchester really gets to the heart of how this local band made its mark upon ordinary people's lives and is told fantastically through Anais.' In the show, Oasis fans will hear from the Oxford-based artist Paul Fellows, who first saw the band more than 20 years ago, and the experience left a lasting impression. His deep love for Oasis inspired him to create art dedicated to the band - work that has since helped raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. It's a cause close to his heart, as the hospital once cared for his ill son. Paul said: 'Oasis have had a massive influence on my life. If someone came up to me in the field of Knebworth and said in 25 years' time, you're going to meet him on stage and raise money for a great cause, I would never have believed it!'. Karen from New Ross, in Ireland has been a devoted Oasis fan since day one, with the band's music a constant companion through both her teenage years and adult life. In the series, she recalls how one song in particular became the bridge that helped her reconnect with her mother, who had dementia. She said: 'An Oasis song helped me connect with my mother in a way I never thought I'd be able to again. Happy or sad, it will always be a massive part of me'. Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite on stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday - in their first gig in 15 years. The iconic Britpop band will perform stadium shows across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Korea and North, Central and South America, where it will conclude with a show at São Paulo's Estádio do Morumbi on November 23. The BBC have previously come under fire for offering huge gigs to off-spring of famous stars, known as 'nepo-babies.' Roman Kemp was criticised by viewers last year when he interviewed his own parents on The One Show. Fans of the BBC show were in uproar over the segment, which showed the Radio DJ sat on the green sofa chatting to his famous father Martin and mother Shirlie. Viewers accused the show of nepotism and demanded an Ofcom investigation, while others branded it terrible television. And those watching took to X to share their grievances about the segment, writing: 'Tonight on #TheOneShow, nepo kid Roman Kemp interviews his parents Martin & Shirlie at his workplace'. Another said: 'Not Martin & Shirlie Kemp again, hat trick with Roman presenting too'. While others fumed: 'Nepo Baby gets to interview parents. Wow great television; 'All we're missing is Gary and we've got the full set of Kemps. Jesus. This is just wrong. ' While one person quipped: '@BBCTheOneShow What's this tonight, 'Bring Your Parents To Work' Day'. The BBC was also accused of nepotism back in 2023, after casting the real-life son and niece of one of the main stars on its popular prime-time drama Waterloo Road. Parents of young actors shared their fury that Teddy and Scarlett Thomas were given roles as the on-screen children of Adam Thomas, who plays Donte Charles, one of the show's main characters. The Mail on Sunday was contacted by parents of other young actors who went for the roles and they describe the casting as a 'fix'. In an echo of the 'nepo-baby' story that rocked the American celebrity world last year, one said: 'It is a blatant fix. My daughter went for the role and she didn't hear anything back at all. Now we know why. It seems very suspicious that two children from the same very close-knit acting family got two of the important parts.' Adam Thomas, who previously appeared on Emmerdale, admitted in an interview last week that he helped Teddy and Scarlett win their roles, saying: 'If I can help put a foot through the door, then I'm going to do it. 'But at the end of the day they've still got to do the talking and they do that on the show.'

Iris Law shows off her lithe legs in tight-fitting shorts as she makes the most of British 'heat dome' - after confirming her relationship status

Iris Law took advantage of the heat dome currently engulfing Britain as she stepped out in London on Monday. The model daughter of actors Jude Law and Sadie Frost looked relaxed in a loose T-shirt and tight fitting shorts that showed off her legs while out in picturesque Primrose Hill. Cinching the look with a black belt and accessorising with a patterned silk headscarf and tinted sunglasses, Iris, 24, ensured she caught the eye during her latest public appearance. She was seen checking her phone before appearing to take a selfie while walking a shady, tree-lined street in the upmarket north London enclave. The young model was venturing out after sparking romance rumours with DJ Tommy Gold, who bears a striking resemblance to her footballer ex Trent Alexander Arnold. The pair were seen browsing stalls at Notting Hill's famous Portobello Road Market, where they paused to pick up some flowers. Iris later addressed the speculation by describing Tommy as a close friend in an Instagram post shared with followers on Sunday. Resharing a picture of their day out, she wrote: 'sorry guys but that's bestie.' Iris last sparked romance rumours in October when it was reported she was growing close to her ex Pa Salieu following a split from Real Madrid and England full back Trent. She had been tapping the heart button in response to social media posts by the rapper, just a month after his release from a 33-month jail sentence for violent disorder. She also commented on his latest post, writing: 'Fiya'. The pair were first seen together in October 2021 and relationship rumours were sparked in April the following year. It is not known when they split. Brit nominee Pa was jailed for two years and nine months for taking part in a mob attack on a 23-year-old man shortly after his best friend was stabbed to death. The 27-year-old admitted violent disorder at a previous hearing, having been caught on CCTV using a tree branch to repeatedly hit the victim, who spent ten days in hospital. The BRIT Award-nominated artist, who was named the BBC's Sound of 2021, was cleared by a jury of a second count of violent disorder relating to a mass brawl in a nearby street minutes earlier, which led to the death of 21-year-old Fidel Glasgow, grandson of The Special's singer Neville Staple. The young model was venturing out after sparking romance rumours with DJ Tommy Gold, who bears a striking resemblance to her footballer ex Trent Alexander Arnold Pa was convicted of possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon after telling jurors he smashed and brandished it to defend himself. Following his arrest, the court heard, Pa told police that Glasgow was his best friend before exercising his right to silence. No one has ever been charged with Glasgow's murder, despite extensive inquiries into disorder following a music event at Coventry's Club M in the early hours of September 1, 2018. Iris and Trent - who left boyhood club Liverpool and signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid in June - ended their four month relationship in September. A source told The Sun that despite Iris having a 'really fun summer' and holidaying with Trent's family in July, the pair's busy work schedules are now clashing. An insider said: 'Life is about to get really busy for them both, with Trent's schedule packed with first-team football and Iris having jobs all over the world. 'So even though they are not dating any more, Iris and Trent will definitely stay friends.' Iris appeared keen to enjoy the British heatwave during her outing in London on Monday
