'Nike Football just went Hollywood': Ryan Williams inks major Alabama football NIL deal

Ryan Williams has inked a major Name, Image and Likeness deal ahead of the 2025 football season. The Alabama football sophomore wide receiver was announced as a Nike athlete, joining a team of athletes such as LeBron James, Kylian Mbappe, Tiger Woods and Simone Biles. 'Since I can remember, Nike has always been the best fit on and off the field," Williams said in a statement. "Family has always been a huge part of who I am. When I had the opportunity to join the Nike family, I knew I had to just do it.' Williams is the second college football athlete to sign with Nike after former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders signed with the company in 2024. Williams was a freshman All-American and earned All SEC coaches first-team honors in 2024 where he led Alabama with 865 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. According to Nike's release, Williams joins an "unmatched NIL athlete roster fueled by the brand's holistic, industry-leading support and longstanding commitment to innovation, all in service of athletes." Alabama opens its 2025 season against Florida State Aug. 30. Colin Gay covers Alabama football for The Tuscaloosa News, part of the USA TODAY Network. Eagles Star Jalen Hurts Ranked Among NFL's Top Franchise Players

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Fresh off winning Super Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts has cemented himself as one of the top performers of his generation. Though his perception around the league is slightly polarizing, many still agree that the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the NFL's top building blocks. Since taking over as the Eagles' starting QB, Hurts has yielded big results for the franchise. Philadelphia has been to the Super Bowl twice during his tenure, and was able to secure a championship last season. On top of this, Hurts nearly secured MVP honors in the regular season back in 2022 after leading the Eagles to a 14-1 record. Critics try to discredit Hurts because of the system that has been built around him. While the Eagles have one of the league's deeper rosters, they succeed at the highest level because of their QB. He is a strong leader the team rallies behind, and his versatile skill set allows the offense to be so dynamic. Hurts nearly came in at the top spot, slotting in at No. 3. The only players put ahead of him were Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. "Yes, Hurts doesn't always produce jaw-dropping numbers. He's supported by a terrific supporting cast, headlined by skill-position stars like A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith. His career stat line, which includes 55 rushing touchdowns, is buoyed by a terrific offensive line and Philly's infamous 'Tush Push,'" wrote BR's Kristopher Knox. "However, Hurts has played consistently well and has often been at his best in the brightest moments. He's guided the Eagles to the postseason in all four years as a full-time starter and has appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one." After being able to retain most of last year's roster, the Eagles are primed to go on another Super Bowl run. As the leader of the offense, it falls on Hurts to make sure this collection of talent continues to fire on all cylinders. Hurts and the Eagles will begin their quest for a second straight championship in less than a week when training camp gets underway.
