Telangana High Court Questions Illegal Buildings Near Protected Hyderabad Lakes
The court sent notices to the state government, irrigation and city departments, and the Pollution Control Board. The judges also sent notices to the owners of five big halls built in the banned area.
GO 111 says that no concrete buildings can be made within 10 km of the lakes. This area is called a bio-conservation zone and is meant to protect nature and water.
The court was looking into a case filed by Mandadi Madhava Reddy, a local man from Moinabad. He said the government is not stopping the building work, which breaks the rules of GO 111 and harms the lakes and nature.
His lawyer told the court that five big halls have already been built in Janwada, and each one can hold 5,000 people. He said the waste from these events goes into the lakes. The crowds and cars also cause air and water pollution and make traffic worse.
He also said that these buildings have removed trees and blocked the natural flow of water. This is bad for the environment.
The lawyer blamed the government for not enforcing the rules. He also said that HYDRAA, a special group meant to protect the lakes, has failed to stop the illegal buildings.

Telangana HC seeks government reply by July 28 on Bhoodan land probe
HYDERABAD: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court has directed the State Government to clarify by July 28 whether it intends to appoint a Commission of Enquiry into alleged irregularities in Bhoodan lands located in Nagaram Village of Ranga Reddy District. The direction came in response to a writ petition filed by Vadthya Ramulu, a resident of Nagaram Village, who sought an inquiry into the alleged illegal mutation and alienation of lands in Survey Nos. 194 and 195, totalling 10 acres and 17 guntas. He claimed the land was originally purchased in 1964 by his late father, Jamala, from Nawab Mohd. Haji Khan. Later, Jamala, a member of the ST community, gifted 5 acres to the petitioner via a registered Gift Settlement Deed on October 8, 2019. Following Jamala's death in October 2020, Ramulu said he continued cultivating the land and was issued e-pattadar passbooks, with his name mutated in official records. After acquiring more portions of the land, he alleged interference by third parties and filed a civil suit for a permanent injunction with an Interlocutory Application (IA). Although the IA was dismissed on April 30, 2024, the HC granted an interim injunction in his favour on November 28, 2024, in a Miscellaneous Appeal (CMA). The Government Pleader, Revenue, informed the court that the lands in question are classified as Bhoodan lands under Section 22A, making them prohibited property. A separate writ petition concerning the same lands is also pending with interim protection granted. Justice Lakshman directed the government to clarify its position on initiating a Commission of Enquiry. The matter has been adjourned to July 28.

Writ in HC to direct CS to appoint inquiry panel into illegal sale of Bhoodan lands
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court's single bench of Justice K Lakshman on Friday directed Terra Rajnikanth Reddy, State Additional Advocate-General to get instructions from the government on its stand whether it will appoint a commission of inquiry to go into the illegal mutation and alienation of the Bhoodan lands (10.17 acres) in survey numbers 194 and 195 at Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The judge passed the order, while adjudicating the writ filed by Vadthya Ramulu, who contends that he is the legitimate owner of the lands; they were fraudulently sold by creating fictitious documents. The petitioner's counsel informed the court that he is the owner and possessor of agricultural lands (10.17 acres). Though the lands were gifted to him by his late father Jamala and were registered at SRO Ibrahimpatnam, they were fraudulently sold to Senior IAS and IPS officers, who are influential and got their names mutated in revenue records; also obtained Pattadar passbooks. The counsel said the petitioner had represented to the Chief Secretary, seeking a probe into the issue by constituting a commission of inquiry, but there was no response. Hence, he had filed the petition. He further informed the court that there was another writ (No. 12637/2025) wherein the petitioner was aggrieved by action of officials in Revenue, Registration, CCLA and other departments, who fraudulently alienated the Bhoodan lands to senior IAS and IPS officers and their family members. Earlier, in this writ Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy had restrained the Revenue department from making any further sales of the lands. Justice Lakshman after hearing the counsel for the petitioner and Rajnikanth Reddy directed the HC Registry to tag both writs together for further hearing. He adjourned the petition to July 28.
