Yahoo2 days ago
The bond between dogs and kids is priceless. To reiterate the point, an Instagram video shows a Golden Retriever, Skylar, who cannot hold her excitement when she reunites with her toddler best friend. The reunion also brings joy to the kid, Shalom, as he cannot contain his excited shrieking voice. Explaining the familiar emotion in the caption, the owner wrote, 'Nothing beats coming home to your best friend.'
In an adorable Instagram video, the reunion between a Golden Retriever named Skyler and a toddler named Shalom is one for the books. Anyone can witness the excitement and longing in their behavior and voices. Shalom expresses his emotions through giving toys and speaking to the dog in a shrieking voice. Skyler, on the other hand, cannot stop her wagging tail while patiently accompanying her best friend.
The toddler's reunion with the Golden Retriever in the video begins with the two greeting each other through a glass door. While Skyler stands on her two feet and tries to open the door, Shalom attempts to push the door as he happily jumps with a big smile on his face. Once the 'besties' are inside, the canine becomes calm and stays close to the toddler.
Further, Shalom continues to squeal and brings a ball for his best friend. As Skyler plays with the ball, the kid asks his parents for a dog bone. Then, Shalom finds something in Skyler's toy box and gives it to the fur baby. Once the latter accepts it, the toddler seems satisfied and calls the pooch 'Good Girl' multiple times.
Viewers had a great time watching the Golden Retriever and toddler's reunion video. A user commented, 'I can't, both of them are so excited to see each other!' while another wrote, 'So much happiness.' One individual stated, 'Beyond adorable when Shalom compliments her for being a good girlie!' Netizens found the clip 'sweet' and referred to it as the 'happiest reunion' and 'overdose of Cuteness and love.' Since the upload, the Instagram reel has received over 18K likes.

‘It's Always Sunny' Star Glenn Howerton Wanted Series to End: ‘I Was Aching to Do Other Things'

After 20 years and 17 seasons, it's tough to imagine a world where 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' isn't on television, but there was a point where one member of its reliable ensemble — which consists of Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney (aka Rob Mac), Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito — almost bowed out. At the July 1 PaleyLive 20th anniversary panel (via People), Howerton revealed that prior to the start of Season 12, which broadcast on FXX in 2017, he told the creative team, 'Look, I just don't want to wear out our welcome.' 'I was worried that maybe we had sort of peaked or something, and I just was like, you know, we've been doing this for a long time. And I think I was also anxious,' Howerton said. 'I had not figured out yet how to stretch myself and be able to do other things that I wanted to do with my career outside of the show… I just hadn't figured out how to do that yet. I was aching to do other things, and so I was starting to feel a little boxed in, frankly.' More from IndieWire Quinta Brunson Signals That 'Abbott Elementary' May End Soon: 'Our Show Is Very Time-Consuming' Hollywood Remembers Julian McMahon, Star of 'Nip Tuck,' 'Charmed,' 'Fantastic Four' - 'A Clown Disguised as a Matinee Idol' The cast was insistent, saying that they did not want the show to end. He simply said, 'Oh, well I can't stop you.' 'And then Seasons 13 and 14, I came back as an actor but I wasn't in the writers' room.' Howerton had made appearances in many other series, including 'The Mindy Project' and 'Fargo,' but after he 'figured out how to do that' — meaning juggle additional projects — he would take on such hefty assignments as the sitcom 'A.P. Bio' and films like 'The Hunt' and 'Blackberry.' Meanwhile, 'It's Always Sunny' kept going, and so did he. '[They] just kept writing it and kept writing him in,' McElhenney said, the show's official creator. 'And we're like, he's just gonna eventually say he's coming back. That's what happened.' 'It's Always Sunny' will drop its first two episodes of its 17th season, which will contain eight episodes, on July 9. Its season premiere will include the highly-anticipated second part of a crossover event with fellow Philadelphia-set sitcom 'Abbott Elementary.' An episode of that series with guest appearances from the entire 'Sunny' cast aired on ABC in January. A Last Ride for Clyde Aikau, Surfing Royalty

Visuals by Gabriela Bhaskar Text by Talya Minsberg Under the sparkling morning sun and in the warm waters of Oahu's South Shore, Clyde Aikau took his last ride last week. The legendary Hawaiian surfer, lifeguard, community leader and man known to most as Uncle Clyde died on May 3 at age 75. He is perhaps best known for being the younger brother of Eddie Aikau, a title he wore with pride. Clyde Aikau at the opening ceremony of the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational in 2018. Brian Bielmann/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images Eddie was a surfer and the first lifeguard on the North Shore of Oahu, where he saved more than 500 final act was one of service. He was part of a voyage in 1978 retracing the Polynesian migration route between Hawaii and Tahiti. The canoe capsized, and Eddie paddled for help. The rest of the crew was rescued, and Eddie was never seen again. Clyde, who was 28 at the time, spent the rest of his life immortalizing Eddie's legacy. In 1984, the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational at Waimea Bay was founded to help honor his memory. It has become one of the world's most prestigious and elusive surfing contests. The Eddie Aikau Big Wave contest in 2018. Brian Bielmann/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images The contest, a labor of love for Clyde, is held only when conditions are just right. But the paddle-out – a floating memorial service – is held annually. Paddle-outs, while not a Polynesian tradition per se, incorporate many traditional Polynesian elements. The Eddie contest helped popularize them. 'We know Eddie because of Clyde,' said Isaiah Walker, a history professor at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Eddie is one of two real legends in Hawaii, he added. Duke Kahanamoku, a legendary swimmer and surfer, and Eddie were both 'elevated to the status of Godlike characters.' Fittingly, the paddle-out for Clyde began in the shadow of the Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki. Being recognized by Clyde — through an invite to the Eddie or a nod in the surfing lineup — was akin to being given a nod by royalty. 'My dad always said that he always followed his brother's footsteps because that was his idol,' said Ha'a Aikau, Clyde's son. 'And my idol was my dad.' 'If you can help someone in any way, that's a good thing, it's a good day,' Ha'a recalled his father saying. More than 600 people showed up to honor Clyde's mana, the Hawaiian word for spirit. It's a word used often to describe his relentless yet humble life force. Always giving, Ha'a said, his father would have wanted to feed everyone at the paddle-out, but the city permit didn't allow it. If Clyde had his way, he would 'give everyone a nice little bento and a nice strawberry soda — his favorite Diamond Head brand,' Ha'a said. Eleni Aikau, Clyde's wife, thanked everyone for celebrating her husband's life well lived, for 'having one more ride with Uncle Clyde.''He wasn't able to surf the last couple of years, so this is the closest we can get to getting him back in the water,' she said, getting choked up. Waikiki beach boys, many of whom Clyde hired decades ago to help teach tourists how to surf, shared the honor of holding Clyde's ashes. But the Aikau family decided not to spread the ashes in the waters of Waikiki. His final resting place would be Waimea Bay, a spiritual valley for the Aikau family dating back to the Kingdom of Hawaii. It's where Clyde honored Eddie every year. And where the Aikau family and Hawaiian community would continue to honor Clyde, too. Christian, 'tradpop' music making 'a comeback' as conservative ideals become more popular, report says

Faith-based and "traditional" pop hits are surging on the music charts this year, as noted in a recent report. Alex Warren's "Ordinary," "a folksy melodramatic ballad about faith and love," according to Semafor, was the No. 1 song in the country this week and has been on Billboard's Hot 100 for the past 20 weeks. The song's popularity isn't an oddity. Several Christian and country artists have also ranked high on the music charts this year, the report said, indicating a "political vibe shift" in American pop music since President Donald Trump took office. It stands in stark contrast to the 2024 "brat summer" trend, embraced by former Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, where boundary-pushing female pop stars Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX dominated the music scene, Semafor reported. Christian artists Brandon Lake and Forrest Frank have also enjoyed more mainstream success. Lake's "Hard Fought Hallelujah" is now in its 19th week on the Billboard Hot 100 and Frank's "Your Way's Better" hit its 10th week on the chart. "Christian music is making a serious comeback," Billboard reported in May after the two Christian songs became the first faith-based hits in 11 years to make it on the Hot 100 chart. Country star Morgan Wallen is also wildly popular, having several hits on the Hot 100. His recently released album, "I'm the Problem," broke streaming records in May. Thomas Rhett, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey also have country-pop hits topping the charts. On "American Idol" this season, several contestants were open about their faith. The show also hosted a three-hour "Songs of Faith" special on Easter Sunday where contestants and judges performed gospel and worship music. Pop music seems to be reflecting a broader cultural shift toward traditional and conservative ideals, Semafor reported. As conservative voices and positions become more influential with Trump's return to office, companies and institutions have responded in kind by ditching Pride Month campaigns and DEI priorities, the report noted. It can also be seen in the online "trad wife" trend, where young women embrace marriage and traditional values. Several Gen Z women who spoke to Fox News Digital at a Turning Point USA conference this year said it was important to them to defend strong traditional values that were grounded in faith and femininity. "Holding up values, traditional values that come from the Bible and be able to carry those throughout every aspect of life, to be able to create a foundation for yourself and your family that carries out the Lord's message," Grace from Florida told Fox about what it means to be a conservative.
