Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Contract with Al-Nassr Until 2027

Saudi club Al-Nassr has officially announced the contract extension of Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, confirming that the 40-year-old forward will continue with the team until 2027.
Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, was initially set to see his contract expire on June 30, 2025. The extension adds two more years to his stay with the club, marking a continued chapter in his Middle Eastern football journey.
In a post on the club's official X (formerly Twitter) account, Al-Nassr shared a video of Ronaldo standing on a beach with the caption: "Al-Nassr forever. The journey continues with our legendary captain."
The announcement was followed by a photo of Ronaldo and club president Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Majed holding a personalized jersey with '2027' printed on the back, symbolizing the new deal.
Ronaldo has been instrumental in Al-Nassr's recent campaigns and remains a central figure both on and off the pitch for the club and Saudi football's global ambitions.

Empowering her - Egyptian Football
The participants, one from each African football association, attended because they are already leaders - in their clubs, associations, communities and within the wider football ecosystem. The aim of the African Football Confederation (CAF) is to support these women in deepening their leadership journey, sharpening their skills and strengthening their voice in the game they all love. The programme, which was inaugurated by CAF General-Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba, was built around five key objectives: empowering women in leadership roles which helps them recognise and harness their unique strengths while navigating and overcoming challenges of leading in a traditionally male-dominated industry; developing leadership skills which provides women with practical tools and insights into effective leadership, and decision making, communications and conflict resolution, enabling women to lead with confidence and influence. Third is enhancing personal and professional growth which encourages women to reflect on their leadership journey, set goals and cultivate a growth mindset to continuously evolve both personally and professionally. Fourth, fostering a strong leadership network, building a community where women in football leadership can connect, share experiences and support one another long after the program ends. Lastly, creating actionable leadership plans, which helps equipping women with strategic, practical leadership development plans they can implement within their organisations, communities and federations. The three-day programme also included the following topics: 'The Story of Self' where participants get to understanding their selves, who they are, what they stand for and how to lead; 'The Story of US' where participants understand others; how to connect, collaborate and get the best out of others and 'The Story of Now' which included action planning and putting it into practice. The programme presented how self-awareness is the foundation for effective leadership which will support participants to identify and leverage their strengths, identify their areas for development and understand how this impacts their leadership style. Leaders who are self-aware can build stronger relationships, make better decisions and create positive working environments for their team. The programme also focused on values, which are personal to the participant leaders; they are their principles or standards of behaviour. Values can support them in leadership when it comes to decision-making or how they behave as a leader. Olivier Giroud to leave MLS side LAFC - World
Olivier Giroud, France's all-time top goalscorer, and Los Angeles FC have mutually agreed to part ways, the MLS club announced on Friday. The 38-year-old striker, who joined LAFC in May 2024 from AC Milan, will play his last match for the team on Sunday against Vancouver. "Olivier has been an exemplary professional during his time at LAFC," team co-president and general manager John Thorrington said. "He brought humility and a winning mentality that helped elevate everyone around him." Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to Ligue 1 club Lille, according to several media reports in France. Giroud helped LAFC reach the 2024 Leagues Cup final, where he scored his first goal for the club. He also scored in the 2024 US Open Cup final, helping LAFC win the trophy for the first time. "I want to thank all of the fans, my teammates and the staff at LAFC for making this an enjoyable stop in my career," Giroud said. "I am happy to have played a part in the success of LAFC." Giroud has scored nearly 300 goals in more than 700 club matches, winning major trophies at Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan. The 2018 World Cup winner leads France's all-time scoring charts with 57 goals. Athletics: Jamaica's Fraser-Pryce qualifies for 9th World Championships - Omni sports
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce punched her ticket to a ninth World Championships with a third-placed finish in the 100m at the Jamaican national athletics trials on Friday. Fraser-Pryce, a three-time Olympic gold medallist and 10-time world champion, clocked 10.91sec to finish third in the women's 100m final and secure a berth for the World Championships in Tokyo in September. Tina Clayton won her first national title in a personal best of 10.81 with reigning 200m world champion Shericka Jackson second in 10.88. Tia Clayton, twin sister of Tina, was fastest in the semi-finals but pulled up with an apparent injury in the final. Fraser-Pryce won her first world championships medal at Osaka in 2007 -- a silver in the 4x100m relay -- before going on to win 10 world titles, five of them in the 100m. In front of a large turnout that included treble world record holder Usain Bolt, she delivered when it mattered most. "It's been a long journey," Fraser-Pryce said after the final. "But it was not about making the team, it was about celebrating the journey and I am grateful for those who have been part of the journey. "It takes strength and resilience to have made it so far, but it was always a joy and privilege to represent Jamaica and I hope I will leave a legacy of inspiration to every girl who has a dream for achieving more." In the men's 100m final, Paris Olympics silver medallist Kishane Thompson delivered a blistering 9.75sec (wind .8m/sec), his personal best making him the sixth-fastest performer in history. Only Justin Gatlin (9.74), Asafa Powell (9.72), Yohan Blake (9.69) Tyson Gay (9.69) and world record-holder Bolt (9.58) have gone faster. The 23-year-old, who was beaten by just 0.005sec by Noah Lyles in the 100m final at the Paris Games, sliced two hundredths off his previous career best of 9.77 set in June of 2024. Oblique Seville shrugged off concern over a tight hamstring to finish second in 9.83 and Ackeem Blake was third in a personal best of 9.88.
