At least 8 killed during 'terrorist' attack in southeast Iran
"Unknown gunmen attacked the judiciary centre in Zahedan," the capital of southeastern Sistan Baluchistan province, the judiciary's Mizan Online said.
"Five people have been killed and 13 injured in this terrorist attack," it added. Separately, the official IRNA news agency reported that three of the attackers were killed during the assault.

At least six people were killed at a market in a shooting incident in the Thai capital Bangkok on Monday, a police official said. The number of fatalities includes the gunman who took his own life, Charin Gopatta, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said. Four security guards at the Or To Ko market, which sells agricultural produce and local food, were killed by the gunman, as well as a woman, according to the Erawan Emergency Medical Centre that monitors Bangkok hospitals. "Police are investigating the motive. So far it's a mass shooting," Worapat Sukthai, deputy police chief of Bangkok's Bang Sue district where the incident took place, said. He added that the police were working to identify the attacker, as well as investigating "for any possible link" to the current border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia. The attack took place at Or Tor Kor Market, a short distance from Chatuchak market which is a major tourist destination in Bangkok and throngs with visitors every weekend. Mass shootings are not uncommon in Thailand, where firearms can be obtained relatively easily due to lax gun control enforcement.

At least nine people were killed in an armed attack by the Jaish Al Adl Baloch group on a courthouse in Iran's restive Sistan-Balochestan province on Saturday, including three of the assailants, state media reported. Another 22 were injured, according to the report. Jaish Al Adl confirmed the deaths of its three members in the clashes with security forces in Zahedan, the capital of the far southeastern province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan. Sistan-Balochestanis home to Iran's Sunni Muslim Baluch minority, who have long complained of economic marginalisation and political exclusion. A toddler and a 60-year-old woman were among those killed, as well as three soldiers and law enforcement personnel assigned to the courthouse, the head of the province's judiciary told IRNA. He did not identify the sixth dead person. He said the attackers wore explosive vests and carried grenades. It was not clear if they had detonated them. Jaish al-Adl, which claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on its Telegram account, said it had killed at least 30 members of the judiciary and security forces. It said it targeted judges and court personnel, whom it accused of issuing death sentences and house demolition orders to Baloch citizens. "We warn all judges and employees of the judiciary that Balochestan will no longer be a safe place for them and death will follow them like terrifying shadows until retribution," the group said in its statement. It blamed security forces for the deaths of civilians, saying they had fired indiscriminately. The Baloch human rights group HAALVSH, quoting eyewitnesses, said several judiciary staff members and security personnel were killed or wounded when the assailants stormed the judges' chambers. Sistan-Balochestanis frequently hit by clashes between security forces and armed groups, including Sunni militants and separatists who say they are fighting for greater rights and autonomy. Iran executes two members of exiled group for carrying out attacks
Iran on Sunday executed two men after convicting them of carrying out attacks on behalf of the exiled opposition People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), the country's judiciary said. "The death sentences of two operational members of the... terrorist group were carried out this morning after legal procedures and confirmation by the supreme court," the judiciary's Mizan Online website reported. Mehdi Hasani and Behrouz Ehsani-Eslamloo were found guilty of manufacturing improvised launchers and mortars and launching attacks on civilians and infrastructure, the judiciary said, adding that they "aimed to disrupt social order and endanger the safety of innocent civilians". "The terrorists, in co-ordination with MEK leaders, had set up a team house in Tehran, where they built launchers and hand-held mortars in line with the group's goals, fired projectiles heedlessly at citizens, homes, service and administrative facilities, educational and charity centres, and also carried out propaganda and information-gathering activities in support of the MEK," the report said. The defendants were indicted with "moharebeh", an Islamic term meaning waging war against God, destroying public property and "membership in a terrorist organisation with the aim of disrupting national security". The report did not state when the attacks took place and whether it was related to last month's Israel-Iran war, during which Tehran accused opposition groups, such as MEK, for providing support to Israel from inside the country. Since the war, Iran has cracked down on suspected Mossad affiliates or members. Both suspects were described as long-time members of the MEK, a group designated as a terrorist group by Iran. The MEK was a leftist-Islamist group that staged bombing campaigns against the shah's government and US targets in the 1970s but ultimately fell out with the other factions of the 1979 Islamic revolution. The group has since been exiled. It was also listed as a terrorist organisation by the US and the European Union until 2021.
