
DLF eyes more projects in Mumbai's real estate market, but focus remains on Andheri for now
'Right now, our focus is on the Andheri project in Mumbai, but we are open to exploring more opportunities across the city, including South Mumbai, where many of our aspirational homebuyers are," Ohri told HT.com.
"We have received RERA approval for four towers in the Andheri project, of which two have already been launched. The remaining two will be introduced in the coming days, followed by an additional four towers in Phase 2 over the next few months," he said.
According to Aakash Ohri, the Andheri project is receiving a strong response, with growing interest from local and international buyers.
"We're seeing good traction from NRIs as well and are deploying teams to five countries to promote the project to them actively. That said, our first preference is being given to local Mumbai homebuyers. We aim to maintain a 20–30% share for NRI homebuyers," Ohri said.

All about DLF's re-entry into Mumbai's real estate market
DLF on July 17 announced its re-entry into the Mumbai market with the launch of its premium residential project in Andheri.
The first phase of The WestPark will comprise 416 apartments across four towers, two of which were launched on July 17. The company plans to invest over ₹800 crore in the project and expects a topline of over ₹2,000 crore from Phase 1.
According to the company, the entire project is spread across 10 acres and will feature a mix of 3 BHK and larger apartments ranging from 1,125 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft. In the first phase, apartments are priced between ₹40,000 and ₹48,000 per sq ft.

Last month, DLF received approval from the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) for this phase, comprising 416 apartments across four towers.
DLF announced its re-entry into the Mumbai real estate market in July 2023. The company's first project in the city will be developed in partnership with the Trident Group under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority scheme.
In 2005, DLF had purchased 17 acres of prime mill land in Lower Parel at a National Textile Corporation auction for ₹704 crore, the highest bid at the time. After the 2008 economic crisis, it changed its plans and sold the land to Lodha, also known as Macrotech Developers, for ₹2,700 crore in 2012.

ACB busts land scam, 4 nayab tehsildars & patwari among officials charged with corruption
Gurgaon: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has uncovered a scam involving fraudulent sale of prime govt land, implicating four nayab tehsildars and HSVP officials among others. The 1.5-acre prime land, situated near Hero Honda Chowk and earmarked for developing Industrial Sector 37 and widening Badshapur drain, was allegedly sold by a DLF-1 resident identified as Rakesh Batra in collusion with four nayab tehsildars of Kadipur tehsil, a patwari and HSVP officials. The revenue officials involved have also been accused of causing financial losses to the exchequer by collecting lower stamp duties. The scam came to light when Praveen Rao, a resident of Rewari, filed a complaint with ACB in May 2024, supported by documents. He alleged that in 2022, Batra in collusion with officials and employees of MCG, Kadipur tehsil and HSVP illegally subdivided and sold land that had been acquired by HSVP for development projects. Batra, who owned the adjacent land, sold more plots than he legally possessed, effectively selling property belonging to HSVP, formerly known as HUDA. The land was acquired by the govt agency in Khandsa, Kadipur and Naharpur in 1988 for developing the sector. Approximately 3 acres of Batra's nearly 4-acre landholding were included in this acquisition. Batra challenged the acquisition in Punjab and Haryana high court in 1990, but the court dismissed the petition in 2001, and the land was subsequently handed over to HSVP. By 2004, he had secured the CLU in the name of Shanti Ispat Ltd for 26,771 square yards of land. However, according to revenue records, after the 2001 land acquisition, he only had 22,365 square yards remaining. Batra managed to obtain a CLU for an additional 4,406.25 square yards by misleading HSVP and DTCP. In 2009, HSVP acquired another half acres of Batra's remaining land in Khandsa for widening of the Badshapur drain. In collusion with naib tehsildars from Kadipur tehsil, Batra subdivided approximately 5 acres of land into 22 plots and sold them to various people through eight registries, according an ACB officer. Also, seven different parts, totaling 11,759 square yards, were transferred to his brother Pawan Batra and son Aman Batra. According to regulations, a plot with change of land use can't be subdivided and sold. Batra sold most of the plots allegedly to the family of Gulshan Kumar, a HSVP senior. Kumar purchased plots in his wife Vandana's name and registered two deeds. In total, Batra transferred and registered 25,102 square yards of land, effectively selling 7,712 square yards of HSVP's land. HSVP's estate officer-1 became aware of Batra's activities and wrote to the Kadipur tehsildar in April 2022, highlighting that attempts were being made to sell HSVP-acquired land. The letter emphasised that the land was part of a govt-approved development plan and requested that registration of sale deeds for this land should not occur without a No- Objection Certificate (NOC) from the district town planner and HSVP. The letter also stated that HSVP should be informed if any sale deed was executed. Despite these warnings, approximately 7,712 square yards of HSVP land were divided into eight plots and sold without obtaining the NOC. The property ID of the adjacent land owned by Batra was used to execute the sale deeds. "The naib tehsildar of Kadipur didn't adhere to the circle rate while registering the deeds and collected the stamp duty at a rate of Rs 10,000 per square yard. As a result, the revenue department suffered a loss of Rs 1.6 crore in stamp duty for registering these eight deeds. According to the town planner's report, no NOC was taken before registering the plots," said the ACB official, adding that following an investigation, all allegations were found to be true, and a case was registered under sections 120B, 218, 409, and 420 of IPC and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the bureau's Gurgaon office against Batra, nayab tehsildars Satish Kumar, Parush Pahal, Neha and Akhtar Hussain, patwari Suratmal and Gulshan Kumar from the revenue office among others.

Chronic garbage dumps rise by 80% in Mohali after closure of Ph 8-B dumping ground
Mohali: The number of chronic garbage dumps in Mohali has surged by nearly 80% following the closure of the Phase 8-B dumping ground, with the total number of persistent waste accumulation points rising from 11 to 53 across the city. Although the municipal corporation (MC) had previously claimed a reduction in chronic garbage dumps to 11 by March 2025, the situation has significantly worsened in the months following the ban. Taking serious note of the development, MC commissioner Parminder Pal Singh said, "We have issued a show-cause notice to the sanitation contractor and are awaiting his response. If found unsatisfactory, we will proceed to blacklist the contractor and terminate the contract." To manage the growing waste crisis, the civic body has set up small, decentralised garbage processing units at Shahimajra, Jagatpura, and another location. The commissioner assured that these units would not emit foul odour, and the operators have been warned of contract termination in case of complaints. In a bid to improve waste segregation and processing, the MC recently approved new tenders for handling garbage from Refuse Management Collection (RMC) points on a revenue-sharing basis. Under the revised system, the private processing enterprise will earn profits by converting waste into biogas or fuel, with the processed waste now being sent to an Ambala-based facility. The transition to the Ambala plant comes as the Lalru-based facility's tender period nears its end. PM to virtually inaugurate Halwara airport civil terminal building on July 27; no word on flight operations yet
Nearly seven years after the Punjab government approved the project, with missing deadlines since 2018, the newly constructed Halwara airport civil terminal building will be inaugurated virtually via video-conferencing by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27. Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said following a confirmation from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), preparations for the event have been commenced. The terminal has been constructed near the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Halwara, Raikot sub-division in Ludhiana district, following a long pending demand of local residents for an 'international airport' in the district. Initially, the new terminal building is meant to cater just one domestic flight at a time, with a capacity of 150 passengers each for arrival and departure for a flight. While this building is set to be inaugurated on July 27, there is yet no confirmation on when flight operations would begin there. 'Neither we have any schedule on when flights would begin from the new terminal nor do we know which carrier would commence the first flight. It would probably be Air India, which might operate a flight to Delhi, but there is no confirmation yet. Some security permissions and other work are still pending. The building would be inaugurated on July 27, as per the schedule received from the Centre,' an official said, requesting anonymity. The official further said: 'A discussion to shift the lone FlyBig Ludhiana-Delhi flight, which currently operates from Sahnewal domestic airport, to the new Halwara terminal — following which Sahnewal facility will be closed permanently — is underway.' Addressing a press conference on the development works in Ludhiana on Friday, Punjab's Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora said PM Modi would inaugurate the new terminal building. 'The AAI, in collaboration with the district administration, has been finalising preparations for the inauguration. The terminal will be dedicated to the public on July 27, with Air India to announce flight commencement dates thereafter,' Arora said. Arora — who recently won the Ludhiana West bypoll on AAP ticket — was previously a Rajya Sabha member from Ludhiana, and had been following up on the Halwara terminal project with the Centre. While the successive Punjab governments — currently led by the AAP and earlier by the Congress — have claimed the upcoming Halwara airport to be an 'international' facility, it will apparently take several years for it to become a reality. An international airport in Ludhiana has been a long pending demand of industrialists and businessmen, who currently have to take flights from Delhi, Amritsar or Chandigarh, despite the city being an industrial hub. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann earlier announced the AAP government had proposed that the Halwara airport should be renamed after local hero, freedom fighter, and Ghadar revolutionary Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, who was hanged by the British when he was just 19.
