Indian-Origin Delta Pilot Arrested From Cockpit 10 Minutes After Landing
Authorities with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department and agents with Homeland Security Investigations stormed the cockpit shortly after Delta Flight 2809, a Boeing 757-300, arrived from Minneapolis. The arrest took place while passengers were still preparing to deplane, according to USA Today.
Witnesses say at least 10 DHS agents boarded the plane as soon as it parked at the gate and took the pilot into custody.
One of the passengers told the San Francisco Chronicle, "The officers and agents were pushing their way up through the aisle and into the cockpit with badges, guns, and different agency vests/markings, where they cuffed the co-pilot before leading him away."
Bhagwagar's co-pilot said that he was surprised and had no idea about his arrest. He wasn't made aware of the arrest because of concern that he might inform Bhagwagar, as the agents wanted to arrest him without any chance for him to escape.
According to the Contra Costa Sheriff's Facebook post, the detectives have been conducting an investigation since April 2025 after receiving a report of sex crimes against a child. A Ramey arrest warrant was later secured for the suspect.
Bhagwagar's arrest comes after he was identified as a suspect in a case involving five counts of oral copulation with a child under the age of 10 in April. He is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility with a bail set at $5 million.
Delta Airlines, in a statement obtained by CBS News, said, "Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful conduct and will fully cooperate with law enforcement," adding, "We are appalled by reports of the charges related to the arrest and the individual in question has been suspended pending an investigation."

As per the lawsuit, the family had boarded a Delta flight from Charleston, South Carolina, to New York City's John F Kennedy International Airport on July 19, 2023, before connecting to a flight in London. After the family arrived in London, they found they had accidentally left behind their child's iPad with a Peppa Pig case on the plane, in the seat pocket. The child's mother used the "Find My" app, and tracked the iPad to Queens/Jamaica, New York, after receiving random messages from the missing device. Just over a month after losing the device, the family noticed that the shared iCloud account was filled with pornographic videos showing a man "masturbating while in his Delta uniform and wearing his Delta name badge". The accused also managed to get into Brewers' Amazon account and created a profile titled 'Gay' that one of the couple's young children discovered. Family seeking damages Despite filing the complaint, the Brewers only received an automatic "no reply" email stating they were continuing to look for the iPad, the suit claimed. "What should have been a fun family getaway was riddled with confusion and anxiety over unauthorized access to their personal devices, a breach of privacy, and the transmission of highly inappropriate, explicit video recordings sent through their child's personal devices, something they never would have expected," read a statement from Brewers' attorney, Tola Familoni of Motley Rice law firm. The Brewers have accused Delta of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment, and even sexual assault. The family is seeking damages and accountability from the airline, alleging Delta failed to respond meaningfully to their concerns. "The accused individual is not a Delta employee but one of a vendor company," Delta told the outlet, without identifying the employee.

Pornographic videos of a supposed Delta worker appeared of iCloud after a child's iPad was lost on a flight. A South Carolina couple has sued Delta Airlines after they found an explicit video on their iCloud account after their child lost an iPad on a flight. "This experience has been horrifying and something we never could have anticipated," Brooke Brewer, who filed the lawsuit with her husband, Tory Brewer, said in a statement to Newsweek. The airline said the worker was not a Delta employee but worked for a vendor company. Delta Air Lines has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior of any kind, a spokesperson said. According to the complaint, Brooke and Tory Brewer flew with their two children on a Delta flight from Charleston to New York City on July 19, 2023, before connecting to a flight to London. Upon reaching London, they realized that they left an iPad on the flight to New York. Brooke Brewer began receiving text messages about the missing device, so she used Apple's "Find My" app to trace it to the New York City borough of Queens, the complaint said. Soon after, selfies appeared on the family's iCloud. The individual who featured in those selfies was wearing a Delta uniform. Then, on August 27, pornographic videos of the same individual began appearing in family's iCloud account. "In the videos, the Defendant Delta's employee is masturbating while in his Delta uniform and wearing his Delta name badge," the complaint said. The individual is not named in the complaint. Another pornographic video of the same individual appeared on the family's iCloud a month later. "This experience has been horrifying and something we never could have anticipated. In the rush of de-boarding, our child simply left their device on the plane. We're sharing our story in hope we can help prevent this from happening to others. If speaking out can spare just one family from having to endure something like this, we would be grateful," the mother said. The family is seeking compensation for the "mental and emotional pain and suffering they endured and continue to endure," according to the complaint.
