BBC thriller that fans hailed 'perfect' soars up Netflix top 10 chart
Despite what the title of A Good Girl's Guide To Murder suggests, it has more than just the thrills of a murder mystery (although it does still have that). The BBC show turned Netflix sleeper hit has the bottled up feel of summer to boot.
The six-parter is based on Holly Jackson's YA trilogy of the same name, which was so popular among the BookTokkers that it led to last year's adaptation.
Starring Wednesday's Emma Myers with a very different look to her chipper Enid, the detective on the case here is the dogged (and sometimes dodgy-accented) Pip Fitz-Amobi.
In the summer holidays before entering her last year of school, Pip decides to use her A-Level extended project to investigate an unsolved case in the rural town of Little Kilton: the disappearance of schoolmate Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies) five years ago.

The show first aired on the BBC, and can still be watched on iPlayer, but was made available in the US on Netflix, and has now been added to the platform in the UK too – where it's entered the streamer's list of top 10 TV shows.
Better yet for those who are only just finding A Good Girl's Guide to Murder now, the show is filming six new episodes for a second season.
When the BBC and Netflix co-production renewal was announced, author Holly Jackson said she was 'beyond thrilled' to continue Pip's story and shared that she will be part of the writers' room for the second season.

On the vibes front this has it all: a sleepy English town you'll want to move to, a banging soundtrack (Wet Leg, AWOLNATION) and boundless summer activities.
Yes, there's the murder-suicide conspiracy bubbling away, but it's a bit too silly to be taken overly seriously.
The cast of mostly unknown young'uns are balanced out with the acting experience of their older counterparts: Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle and Mathew Baynton.
If you can suspend your belief for this suspended summer, you'll come away happy you did.
The first season has a 83% rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, after viewers wrote about planning to watch the series 'six times' because it's 'perfect'. More Trending

DWP issues urgent warning to any benefit claimant with a smartphone The warning from the Department for Work and Pensions talks about messages claiming to be from @dwpgovuk The DWP has issued an urgent warning over potential scams (Image: Getty Images ) Any benefit claimant with a mobile phone has been issued a warning from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The government department warned that one text message could actually be criminals attempting to steal claimants' "personal or financial details". Currently, 23.7 million peeople across the UK are receiving at least one form of benefit from the DWP, including the State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, or Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA). Writing on X and Facebook, the DWP said: "Be aware of scam text messages claiming to be from @dwpgovuk. Always be careful about links and never share personal or financial details, only engage with trusted official sources." The DWP then encouraged anyone who encounters a suspicious text message to report it on by searching 'avoid and report internet scams and phishing'. Cybercriminals may be exploiting the current cost of living crisis by pretending to be legitimate government entities such as the DWP or HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), in what are termed 'impersonation scams', reports the Daily Record. Previously, there have been fraudulent text messages concerning 'unclaimed cost of living payments' and the Warm Home Discount scheme. The DWP is also alerting members of the public to be wary of messages and emails that offer applications for Winter Fuel Payments. These payments are set to be distributed automatically in November or December, with no application required. Universal Credit claimants are typically contacted by their Work Coach via their online journal. If you receive a text and you're uncertain whether it's genuinely from a DWP department or HM Revenue and Customs, the safest course of action is to call them yourself and ask. Simple steps to avoid scammers Here are some quick checks everyone can do regularly to spot and avoid potential scams. Never share your financial or personal information Don't share your personal or financial details with anyone. This includes not writing down your banking details. If you can remember your information, this is the safest option, but if you need to write down your details, ensure they're kept in a secure place and not taken with you when shopping. Reputable retailers will never ask for your PIN, CVC number or other identifying online banking information. Regularly review your bank statement If you spot an unfamiliar transaction, it's crucial to tell your bank straight away to have the card blocked. Most banks have a dedicated fraud action line, where you can report the theft and request a refund. Keep tabs on your cards If you misplace any of your bank cards or suspect they've been stolen, you should contact your bank immediately so they can freeze it. Many banks now allow you to do this via their app, speeding up the process. It might be handy to have your bank's contact details readily available if necessary. Be wary of suspicious emails or texts Avoid responding to text messages or emails if their authenticity is questionable. You should never disclose private, personal information such as your banking details or passwords; no legitimate company should ever request these. Tommy's older brother Tyson watched the fight from ringside in Saudi Arabia and has tried to arrange the second bout. He said at the IBA event in Turkey: "I hoped they would. "I've even texted Jake Paul to say 'what's going on do you want to get it on with Tommy and make the fight happen?' "I just think there's a lot of egos involved in boxing. It's a lot of 'he said this, she said that, I want this, I want that'. "When things like that happen, it's difficult to make fights as you've seen over the years." Fury, 26, has boxed only twice since the points victory including a controversial win over Paul's arch rival KSI, 32, in October 2023. "I can also confirm Jake responded that said he offered Tommy $5 million (£3.6m) and he's not getting that money from anyone else." Bidarian claimed Fury turned down an offer of up to $8m (£6m) to rematch Paul on Netflix last year. Instead, Mike Tyson accepted the deal and controversially returned to the ring aged 58 with over 100 MILLION watching on the streaming service. Paul's victory over Chavez saw him ranked at 14 in the WBA as he plots a shot at the cruiserweight world title. But he also wants to avenge his loss to Fury after admitting: "I don't even think I was a fighter then. "I was like two years, two and a half years into the sport and I didn't really know what I was doing. "I didn't have the proper team around me, the proper conditioning. My lifestyle outside of the ring was still that of like a YouTuber, celebrity actor, whatever I was at that point. So I wasn't fully focused on boxing. "Like I said, this feels like chapter one's done tonight. Now we're moving into chapter two and I'm just getting warmed up in this sport. "But people hold the Tommy Fury thing against me, but what now? I just beat a former world champion and I'm coming to avenge that loss as well with Tommy."
