
Tennessee baseball commit named Two-Way Player of the Year
The junior pitcher and third baseman is from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He led the Wildcats to the Class 4A state tournament for a second consecutive season. Teasley was recently named All-State by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association and earned Player of the Year from Prep Xtra on Tuesday.
He also earned District 3-4A Player of the Year honors from the league's coaches following the 2025 regular season. The prospect was named All-Region 2 by Tennessee Baseball Report, and recognized on the All-2-Way Team.
Teasley (8-2) was honored by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as a pitcher. He recorded a 1.39 ERA, two shutouts and 129 strikeouts, while allowing 19 walks.
Offensively, Teasley recorded a .392 batting average, eight home runs, 40 RBIs, 15 doubles and two triples.

Eight Iowa football players garner Phil Steele preseason honors
As the 2025-26 college football season approaches, eight Iowa football players received Phil Steele preseason honors, according to the college football publication's June 25 announcement. In total, five Hawkeyes garnered preseason All-America laurels, while eight earned preseason All-Big Ten accolades. According to the announcement, Iowa's All-American honorees include senior offensive tackle Gennings Dunker, senior defensive tackle Aaron Graves, and senior return specialist Kaden Wetjen, who were each selected as second-team All-Americans. Additionally, senior center Logan Jones was named a third-team All-American, while sophomore punter Rhys Dakin was picked as a fourth-team All-American by the publication. In regards to the All-Big Ten accolade, Iowa had two preseason second-team all-conference honorees in senior offensive guard Beau Stephens and senior kicker Drew Stevens, and a third-team selection in senior defensive end Ethan Hurkett. With the Hawkeyes set to open their 2025-26 campaign on Aug. 30 against FCS-level Albany at 5 p.m. CT at Kinnick Stadium, the Phil Steele honors will give many Iowa fans excitement as they wait to see the team take the field in the fall. Shota Imanaga wins his 2nd straight start since coming of IL for Chicago Cubs
Pete Crow-Armstrong had two hits and two RBIs after being chosen an All-Star starter for the first time in his career, Shota Imanaga won his second straight start since returning from a hamstring injury and the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 on Wednesday night. Seiya Suzuki added two hits and three RBIs for the Cubs, who have opened July with consecutive victories over Cleveland after dropping seven of their final 11 in June. They lead the NL Central at 51-35. Carlos Santana, Lane Thomas and David Fry hit solo home runs for Cleveland, which has dropped six straight and fell to 40-44. Imanaga (5-2) gave up three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and struck out four. Cleveland's Tanner Bibee (4-9) allowing five earned runs in four innings. The homers by Santana and Thomas came on consecutive pitches to begin the second inning, both landing in the left-field basket. Fry's homer made it 3-0 in the third, but the Cubs scored twice in the bottom of the inning before Suzuki's two-run single and Crow-Anderson's triple made it 5-3 in the fourth. Steven Kwan hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth, but Daniel Palencia recorded the final out to secure his 10th save. Suzuki's run-scoring double and Crow-Anderson's RBI single in the third started the Cubs' comeback. The Guardians were 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base. The Cubs had three hits with runners in scoring position. Cubs RHP Cade Horton (3-2, 4.80 ERA) is slated to take the mound against Cleveland RHP Luis Ortiz (4-9, 4.36) on Thursday.

In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we look at former USC long snapper Damon Johnson. Position: Long snapper Years played at USC: 2017-2021 Career highlights: Johnson attended junior college in 2016, but did not play football. In 2017, he transferred to USC and immediately earned the starting long snapper role, one that he would hold down for the next five seasons. In 2019, 2020, and 2020, Johnson earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors. In both 2020 and 2021, he was a finalist for the Mannelly Award, given to the top long snapper in the country.
