ANP calls terrorism 'biggest problem'
Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has stated that terrorism remains the biggest issue in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and both the central and provincial governments have completely failed to control it.
Speaking at a public gathering in Nowshera on the anniversary of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan, Hussain emphasized that terrorism has evolved from guerrilla warfare into a conflict between two nationsPakistan and Afghanistan. He warned that this war is no longer regional but has become an international crisis.
ANP District President Zahid Khan, District General Secretary Malik Atlas Khan Khattak, and ANP Central Secretary Brigadier (Retd.) Dr. Salim Khan also addressed the gathering.
Hussain stressed that Pakistan and Afghanistan are sovereign nations and should refrain from interfering in each other's affairs. He cautioned that if the situation spirals out of control, the first victims will be the Pakhtuns, followed by the rest of Pakistan, and eventually, the world will also be engulfed in this conflict.

Govt pledges sustainable agriculture at FAO floor
Listen to article At the 44th Session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Conference held in Rome on Tuesday, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain reaffirmed Pakistan's strong commitment to advancing sustainable, climate-resilient, and inclusive agri-food systems. According to a press statement released on Tuesday, the minister was addressing a high-level gathering of international delegates when he announced the country's pledge to ensure not only national food security but also to support global initiatives to eradicate hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. Pakistan is undergoing wide-ranging national reforms aimed at modernising its agricultural sector. These reforms are focused on enhancing food safety standards, promoting innovation, encouraging crop diversification, and empowering smallholder farmers, according to the official statement issued by the ministry. These measures are designed to create a more equitable and robust food system that improves nutrition, supports livelihoods, and ensures long-term food security for all, Hussain continued. While reflecting on the broader global context, the minister emphasised that food security and environmental sustainability are universal challenges that require collective responses. Pakistan values international cooperation as a key pillar in its agricultural development strategy. By sharing knowledge, aligning with global best practices, and learning from other nations, Pakistan aims to contribute meaningfully to global food governance and resilience-building efforts. Hussain also acknowledged Pakistan's active participation in the election of the new chairperson and vice chairs of the FAO Council during the session. He congratulated the newly elected leadership and expressed confidence that the new chairperson will play a vital role in facilitating consensus among member countries, strengthening coordination with governing bodies, and ensuring that the Council remains responsive to the evolving needs of its members.

Swat river tragedy: ANP demands registration of FIR against Gandapur
PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has demanded registration of FIR against Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amin Gandapur over 'sheer negligence' regarding the River Swat tragedy. ANP Central spokesperson Ihsanullah Khan expressed deep concern over the current situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tragic incident in Swat. He claimed that despite holding power for twelve years, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has failed to fully restore the province's administrative machinery. This failure has become a major obstacle in resolving the basic problems of the people, causing immense hardships for the population, he said. He said that during its tenure, the ANP provided financial and administrative autonomy to the province through the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the NFC Award. As a result, there was a substantial increase in the provincial budget, which enabled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to acquire ample resources for development and public welfare. Unfortunately, he alleged, t the PTI government wasted these resources on mismanagement, corruption, and political theatrics instead of using them for the people's benefit. Consequently, the public has not received the benefits they rightfully deserved. He further said that crucial institutions like Rescue 1122, established to protect lives and property, were also used by PTI for political activities. He said the recent Swat incident has once again exposed PTI's incompetence. He said ANP demands that the provincial government immediately review its policies, restore the administrative machinery, and use public resources transparently for the welfare of the people. ANP slams budget, 18th amendment assault
Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has strongly condemned what he described as an attack on the 18th Constitutional Amendment, national rights, and provincial autonomy. He said the recently presented federal budget has deliberately ignored K-P — particularly the merged tribal districts — which amounts to a grave injustice on constitutional, political, and state levels. He made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting at Bacha Khan Markaz. The session was attended by provincial general secretary Hussain Shah Yousafzai, other senior party officials, legal advisors, and presidents and secretaries from the merged districts. The meeting thoroughly reviewed the current political and financial situation. Participants expressed deep concern that the promises made to the merged districts were neither included in the federal budget nor mentioned in the provincial budget. Mian Iftikhar said this reflects a deliberate policy by the state to sideline and disappoint these regions. He emphasized that if the merged districts are granted their constitutional, political, and financial rights, not only will these areas strengthen, but the entire province will benefit. Unfortunately, he said, the state continues to act in the opposite direction.
