Sports Data Labs, Inc. Secures Japanese Patent for Use of Tracking Data to Generate Strategies, Predictions, and Products for Sports Betting
CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sports Data Labs, Inc. ('SDL'), an award-winning leader in AI-based collection, analysis, and distribution of human data from sensors and other systems, announced today that the Japan Patent Office ('JPO') has issued Patent No. 7618242 to the company covering a novel system and method that leverages tracking data – including information captured from optical-based cameras, GPS trackers, and RFID tags – and other information derived from athletes (e.g., humans, race horses, digital representations) to create AI and statistical-based predictions that enable sportsbooks, bettors, and other organizations to determine the probability of an outcome occurring for an event, revise previously determined probability for an event, or formulate a strategy upon which a betting-related action is taken. The issued patent, which is pending in other markets including the US and Europe, will provide SDL with exclusivity for its invention in Japan until April 2040. SDL's issued patent, entitled 'Animal [Human] Data Prediction System,' provides a new way to leverage sensor-based athlete data and other contextual information to create and revise betting products, betting strategies, and betting odds for sportsbooks, bettors, and other organizations in the emerging Japanese sports betting market on both an individualized and multi-subject modeling basis. Key features of the patent include: A sensor-based data collection framework configured to capture statistical information, motion, vitals, and other biometric signals Predictive AI-based engine converting live data into performance insights, betting products and recommendations AI-generated synthetic and simulated outputs derived from collected athlete data to power odds calculations, probability modeling, and real-time betting feedback loops Application to both real-world and simulated events within regulated betting environments The issued patent, which is pending in other markets including the US and Europe, will provide SDL with exclusivity for its invention in Japan until April 2040. 'Our proprietary and foundational IP, which covers a broad spectrum of novel athlete data-based applications that powers new betting products and intelligent decision-making tools in the gaming market, provides a tremendous opportunity for SDL and the emerging sports betting ecosystem in Japan,' said Mark Gorski, Co-Inventor and CEO of SDL, the assignee of Patent No. 7618242. 'This patent reinforces that we continue to be at the forefront of developing novel sensor-based systems and methods to create new value with athlete data in the sports betting ecosystem.' 'This patent represents another milestone for our global IP strategy and secures part of our core intellectual property in Japan, covering systems and methods that collect and transform sensor-based athlete data and other gathered information into predictive models using AI,' said Stan Mimoto, Co-Inventor and President of SDL. 'We look forward to continuing our discussions with key players in the Japanese sports betting market to further our collaboration efforts.' SDL has thirteen active patent families globally spanning across a wide range of novel systems and methods related to collection and distribution of sensor-based data, sensor communication and configurations, signal processing and identification techniques, data security, artificial intelligence-based predictions and simulations, synthetic data generation, remote communication networks, individual/group consent for personal data, and personal data monetization for the sports, human performance, and digital health ecosystems. This is the company's fifth issued patent in Japan, including the recently announced AI-based athlete data simulation system that leverages generated synthetic biological data to predict future events.
