Biker Waited At Gate, Opened Fire: CCTV Captures Moment When Gopal Khemka Was Killed In Patna
Businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead at around midnight outside his residence on Friday. The CCTV footage of the incident has now surfaced, showing the sequence of events. The moment when BJP leader and businessman, Gopal Khemka, was shot dead outside his Patna residence was captured on CCTV on Friday night. A bike-borne man who wore a black helmet and a blue shirt was seen waiting at the main gate of Khemka's residence. As the businessman's car, along with another four-wheeler, arrived at the entrance and stopped, since the gate was shut, the biker took the opportunity and shot at Khemka, who was sitting in the driver's seat in the first car. The attacker fled from the spot before he could be captured. The guard was then seen walking towards the gate from inside the house. As he opened the gate, Khemka was seen lying lifeless. The man and the woman from the second car, which was behind Khemka's, were seen rushing out of their vehicle in a panicked state. The BJP leader died on the spot, the police said. A bullet and a shell were recovered from the spot. 'On the night of 4 July, around 11 PM, we received information from the Gandhi Maidan South area that businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the hospital and the crime scene. The area has been cordoned off, and an investigation is underway. CCTV footage is being examined. Further action will be taken," City SP Central, Diksha, said. The police have formed an SIT to probe the incident, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the crime. Notably, the businessman's son, Gunjan Khemka, was also killed in Hajipur in December 2018. While the BJP demanded strict punishment for the killer, the Opposition raised questions on the law and order. 'Gopal Khemka was a fine businessman and a great social worker. His family said the police arrived at the spot 1.30 hours after being informed. This is a cause of concern for the administration. Officials should take it very seriously, and the murderers should be nabbed and given strict punishment," BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav said. Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, reached the spot last night and slammed the NDA government over law and order. 'As soon as I got the news, I rushed there. But in this cruel maha-gundaraj (reign of criminals), no one is safe. Bihar has become a sanctuary for criminals! Nitish ji, please spare Bihar," he said on X.
