Earlier, England resumed at 77/3 but quickly slipped to 84/5 as Siraj removed Root (22) and Stokes (0) in the second over of the morning. Root gloved one down the leg side, while Stokes fell to a sharp bouncer first ball.
Jamie Smith and Harry Brook counter-attacked, shifting momentum. Smith took apart Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over of the session, smashing 23 runs with four fours and a six. Krishna's next over went for 11, ending the session with 8-0-61-0.
