NBA announces 6 Europe games over next 3 years
The ever-expanding NBA has seen consistent growth in recent years, with franchise valuations at an all-time high. The world's best basketball league has become a global phenomenon under commissioner Adam Silver, and the league is continuing its push in Europe with a series of six games over the next three years. The NBA announced Wednesday that Berlin and London will host games in 2026, Manchester and Paris will host games in 2027, and Berlin and Paris will host games in 2028.
The Paris Games have been a highlight of the NBA's regular-season calendar in recent years. The NBA previously made annual regular-season trips to London's O2 Arena from 2011-19, and now Berlin and Manchester will join the fun. The Berlin game will be the first regular-season NBA game ever held in Germany, while Manchester previously hosted a preseason game in 2013.
The NBA will launch this European stretch with the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies facing off in Berlin on January 15, 2026, and then in London on January 18, 2026. The participating teams for the games in 2027 and 2028 will be announced before those seasons.
The Magic, who also boast of German players Franz and Moritz Wagner, will mark their fourth and fifth appearances in Europe.The Grizzlies, on the other hand, will be making their European debut. These matchups are made even juicier by the fact that Orlando acquired star guard Desmond Bane from Memphis this offseason.
While these teams are traditionally seen as non-basketball markets, the NBA has become a rich financial market, with the 30 franchises currently valued collectively at over $130 billion.

WNBA-to-Boston celebrations premature? League pushes back on CT Sun move after Pagliuca deal
Fans celebrating the arrival of the WNBA to the City of Boston might want to temper their expectations in the short term. Recent reporting from the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn relates that the WNBA itself is throwing cold water on ta potential move of the recently-purchased Connecticut Sun to a new location. Former Boston Celtics minority owner and Bain Capital executive Steve Pagliuca recently purchased the team for a record $325 million, with another $100 million earmarked to build a dedicated practice facility for the team in Boston. But per Washburn, after news of the sale broke this week, the league sent the reporter a release pushing back on a potential move out of the Nutmeg state. "Relocation decisions are made by the WNBA Board of Governors and not by individual teams," related the WNBA to Washburn, also noting that "no groups from Boston applied for a team." This could put a bit of a damper on things, given Pagliuca would be one of the first names for an expansion team in the area, yet the former Celtics owner now finds himself the new owner (pending league approval) of a team the WNBA appears determined to keep in Connecticut. "Nine additional cities also applied for WNBA teams and remain under active consideration. Those other cities remain under consideration based on the extensive work they did as part of the expansion process and currently have priority over Boston," added the league. This course of action may have actually put the city behind the proverbial eight ball, as the WNBA may be looking to avoid following in the footsteps of the NBA with the highly unpopular move of the Seattle SuperSonics to Oklahoma City in the aughts. Interestingly, the release tendered to Washburn also notes that a "prospective Celtics owner has also reached out to the league office and asked that Boston receive strong consideration for a WNBA franchise at the appropriate time." Does this mean the ownership group helmed by Bill Chisholm currently in the process of securing final NBA approval to buy the Boston-based NBA ball club is also the leading group to secure a WNBA team in the same city? Chet Holmgren meets Oklahoma legend Adrian Peterson
Enjoying his downtime, Chet Holmgren went on another side quest that involved a cross-sport interaction every Oklahoma sports fan loved. The calendar has flipped to August, which means the NBA is in its driest part of the year. Everybody around the league is on vacation for the next couple of months before the 2025-26 season starts. Holmgren traveled to the 2025 Panini VIP Party over the weekend. Panini America hosted the event. The company is known for selling sports trading cards, memorabilia and autographed merchandise. It includes about every collegiate and pro sports league you can imagine. At the event, athletes from across the globe attended. Holmgren took to social media to post some of the photos he had taken of players he grew up watching. One included Oklahoma and NFL legend Adrian Peterson. The future Hall-of-Famer is one of the greatest running backs ever. Peterson attended Oklahoma for three college seasons from 2004-06. He then spent nearly a decade with the Minnesota Vikings, where he carved out one of the greatest careers. He was a perennial Pro Bowl player and won the 2012 MVP award. Considering Holmgren grew up in Minnesota, it was a moment where the 23-year-old was likely starstruck. Both also have obvious ties to Oklahoma. In the seven-footer's case, he helped the Thunder win their first NBA championship this past June. Always fun to see the type of adventures NBA players go through when they have free time. So much of their lives is fixated on basketball. For Holmgren, his free time includes linking up with several other all-time athletes from various sports at a trading card company event.

The Lakers' full 2025-26 preseason schedule has been revealed
It may be the middle of the summer, but before we know it, it will be time for NBA teams to report to training camp and start the new season. About two months ago, the Los Angeles Lakers announced their preseason schedule for the upcoming season. They will have games at Arena versus the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, as well as a contest at Acrisure Arena in greater Palm Springs against the Phoenix Suns and one in Las Vegas against the Dallas Mavericks. Their full preseason schedule has now been revealed, per Khobi Price of Southern California News Group. The Lakers will also play a road game on Oct. 5 versus the Warriors and another one against the Suns on Oct. 14. One thing to note is that the Lakers will have a set of back-to-back games on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15, as well as a total of four games in six games to close out their exhibition schedule. It will therefore be interesting to see how much the team's veterans, especially LeBron James, will play during that stretch.
