Fortnite Super Showdown live event – date, new crossovers and what to expect
The Fortnite Super Showdown live event has been unveiled, promising to bring significant upheaval to the island with a major battle and potentially a couple of exciting crossovers.
Although it may not have been so immediate in reality, as soon as the Fortnite Blast Off event countdown reached zero, it seemed as though another thrilling live event was on the horizon. To be fair, Fortnite's introduction of a live event just before the Chapter 6 Season 3 end date was unexpected, making the arrival of the new Fortnite Super Showdown live event a pleasant surprise.
The new live event comes as the end of the season approaches, offering players a packed Super Battle Pass featuring Superman, who joined the Fantastic Four cosmetics to make the game feel truly embedded in the current superhero pop culture scene. It's been an engaging and immersive period, but there's clearly more in store as new kaiju-grade monsters threaten the island as we approach its next season.
So, what exactly can we anticipate from the Fortnite Super Showdown live event? Here's what you need to know.

The Fortnite Super Showdown live event is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 2 at 11.30am PDT / 2.30pm EDT / 7.30pm BST. This date and time has already been confirmed by Epic Games, who shared the event's key art on Twitter.
The game has confirmed that doors for the event will open half an hour prior to the start, as anticipated. This gives players ample time to log in and prepare for the showdown, which is certainly good news. What can we expect from the Fortnite Super Showdown live event?
At present, official details are scant. However, Epic Games has released a tantalising teaser for the event on Twitter. It reveals a shadowy, tentacled monster with glowing yellow eyes on its tendrils, suggesting we'll be battling a kaiju beast, targeting its eyes as weak points.
The trailer concludes by revealing the event's location – Demon's Domain – and labels it as a 'story event'. This implies that the event is tied to the current villains, Kor and Mask Maker Daigo, rather than being a standalone occurrence. The origins of this monster remain a mystery, but it's sure to be thrilling to uncover. Fortnite Super Showdown live event crossovers
While the Fortnite Super Showdown live event appears to be in a world of its own, there's a high probability that another superhero crossover is on the horizon. As revealed by Fortnite leaker @iFireMonkey at this year's San Diego Comic Con, DC Studios' James Gunn announced that to commemorate the second season of the show, the main character Peacemaker (portrayed by John Cena) will be making an appearance in Fortnite, although no specific date has been disclosed. The super theme of this season is ideal for his debut, but it's possible that the studio might delay until the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 on Thursday, August 21.
As a bonus, though, according to leaker @ShiinaBR, there are also whispers of a Power Rangers crossover coming to the game, which would perfectly complement the upcoming Kaiju battle, adding a touch of tokusatsu thrill to the game. Again, there's no confirmation on when this crossover might occur, but the timing of these rumours is certainly intriguing.
As it stands, this is all we know about the Fortnite Super Showdown live event, and from what we've gathered so far, it promises to be a thrilling experience. It's encouraging to know that it won't immediately lead into the season finale, giving us the opportunity to explore and bid farewell to several POIs. You could say it's going to be super. Apologies for the pun.

I wanted a lowkey wedding so didn't bother with a dress or cake, trolls say a broke uni party would look better
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A COUPLE who opted for a budget-friendly wedding shared the details of their savvy day. However, not everyone was a fan of the scrimping and saving, with some people comparing the occasion to a "broke uni party". Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 TikTok user Amie shared an insight into the various ways she and her husband saved on their wedding day Credit: tiktok/@amie_barron In a TikTok video that amassed over 200,000 views, Amie Barron (@amie_barron) broke down the steps she and her groom took to pinch pennies. With the average wedding costing £200,500, the pair made a conscious effort to cut down on various aspects. Amie joked that some of the extreme measures "would put people in a coma". Veering from tradition The bride decided to opt out of the wedding dress tradition, instead choosing a comfy everyday outfit. "We didn't dress up. We wore flannels, jeans, and boots," she said, sharing a picture with her husband from the big day. Amie and her bridal party also did their own hair and make up for the occasion. And the TikToker joked that she also took her shoes off "as soon as I said 'I do'." While the couple still forked out for a venue for the day, Amie explained that they saved by holding the ceremony and reception in the same room. And the venue in question was the party room at their local library. For the food, the couple decided to skip out on the "fancy meal and fancy cake". I was fuming when I found out the reason my family hadn't RSVP-ed to my wedding - now they're uninvited Amie shared an image of the simple cake they opted for instead, which featured a simple Mr. & Mrs. topper, showing the couple's love for video games and reading. And this passion for gaming also played a major part in the day as the couple went home early to play Fortnite. They did however enjoy some dancing to a playlist Amie made in advance, skipping out on the band or DJ debate. "We didn't want anything big or fancy," she explained, revealing the day went perfectly. However, TikTok users were not sold on the budget-friendly approach. More on weddings Another bride shared how her mother-in-law wore white to her wedding and excluded her from photos "in case it didn't work out". Oasis fan dies at Wembley stadium show after plunging from top tier
Other shows at the 90,000 capacity stadium are going ahead as planned. An Oasis fan tragically plunged to his death at the band's sold-out concert in Wembley Stadium last night as witnesses described the "horrific" scene, The Mirror reports. The man, in his 40s, is believed to have been sat in the upper tier of the 90,000 capacity stadium when he fell. Emergency services rushed to the man but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The Met Police confirmed officers rushed to reports of an injured person at 10.19pm, towards the end of the band's reunion gig. Police added that officers at Wembley found the man with "injuries consistent with a fall". And the force has urged any witnesses and concertgoers with information about the tragedy to reach out to The Met. A horrified concertgoer took to Facebook to share their account of the tragic moment. They wrote: "Did anyone else see the guy drop from the upper tier last night." Another Oasis fan responded, saying they had a "panic attack" after they witnessed the tragic moment. They said: "I was block 502 row 32. I have never felt so sick in my life. I got to my seat and had a full blown panic attack which has never happened before. "I was shaking and crying. I was so scared to get down and have to go back up as it was such a high demand show. But with the state I was in, Wembley moved me to block 501 row 8. Still high up but no where near as steep. I was so grateful." Another concertgoer, in a lower tier, described seeing emergency crews rush to the spot where the fan hit concrete after the plunge. She wrote: "I was directly underneath in section 211. "At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see." A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. "Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. "Tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned." The Mirror reports it has contacted both the Metropolitan police and reps for Oasis for comment.
