Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly have both refused to accept the blame for causing a race-ending crash for each driver in Jeddah.
Tsunoda's Red Bull made contact with the Alpine of Gasly at Turn 4 on the opening lap of the race.

It was one of a series of exciting manoeuvres on lap one, with race winner Oscar Piastri tangling with Max Verstappen at the front, earning the Dutchman a five-second time penalty.

Meanwhile Gasly, who was seventh last time out in Bahrain in a positive result for the Frenchman, said he was also not to blame.
He said: 'There's no need to say too much about it. I know him. It was never intentional but on my side, I had a good line coming into Turn 4, I could brake quite late and try and leave as much space as I could on the outside of Turn 4.
'So I already have the car pass the white line. I had to keep my two wheels inside the track to make sure the pass was done.

'I mean, at the end of the day, it's a tiny touch, but it's just a shame it's put a stop to both of our races.'

ATP Washington picks: Dan Evans vs. Corentin Moutet odds, prediction

If I could get everybody in the sporting world to watch one non-Grand Slam tennis match this year, it may be Thursday's tilt between Dan Evans and Corentin Moutet at ATP Washington. This is a matchup for the tennis sickos, the ones who stick with the sport from the first ball Down Under until they turn off the lights at the ATP Finals in November. Neither Moutet nor Evans has ever cracked the top 20; neither of them has ever been beyond the fourth round at a Grand Slam, and they both are under six feet tall. They have more than that in common. Both players are known for their craft, guile, and, at times, their temper. Moutet has become especially renowned for his on-court antics, but Evans is no stranger to an outburst himself. ATP Washington: Moutet vs. Evans odds, predictions In addition to their temperament, Moutet and Evans are also terrific shot-makers. Given their size and lack of power, they need to be creative with how they approach matches, so getting them both on court at the same time could produce fireworks. Dan Evans in action at ATP Washington. Geoff Burke-Imagn Images After a couple of years toiling on the Challenger Circuit and then on the ATP, Moutet has put together some strong showings in 2025. The Frenchman has found a niche as a thorn-in-the-side player, and has used that style to upset two top-10 opponents (Taylor Fritz, Holger Rune) in the last three months. Moutet's win over Fritz came as part of an 8-3 stretch, which was one of the best of his career. Unfortunately, that run was halted by Y.B. Wu during qualifiers for ATP Washington. Moutet would get into the main draw as a lucky loser, however, and he defeated Alexandre Muller, 6-0, 6-1, in the Round of 32. Evans, a former winner at this event, had an up-and-down grass-court season, but he was able to grind out wins over Zizou Bergs and Alex Michelsen on the hard courts in D.C. Moutet is the younger player and carries a much higher ranking than Evans right now, but the Englishman still has some life left in his legs, and he clearly likes the conditions at this tournament. In a matchup between two similar players, I see no reason why the odds should be this wide. This thing could go in a million different directions, which is good news for the underdog. Carlos Rodriguez pulls out of Tour de France with fractured pelvis

VIF, France — Ineos-Grenadiers rider Carlos Rodriguez has pulled out of the Tour de France with a fractured pelvis ahead of Thursday's monster Alpine stage to the ski resort of Courchevel. Rodriguez crashed on Wednesday and hospital scans confirmed the fracture, his team said in a statement a few hours before the start of Stage 18. 'Carlos is in good spirits and remains under the close supervision of our medical team,' Ineos-Grenadiers said. 'He will now return home to focus on recovery and the rehabilitation process.' The Spanish rider was 10th overall in the general classification, more than 20 minutes behind race leader and three-time Tour champion Tadej Pogačar. The three-week race finishes on Sunday in Paris. Tour de France riders will tackle three extremely difficult ascents during Stage 18, including the 26.4-kilometer (16.5-mile) daunting climb of the Col de La Loze up to the finish. At 2,304 meters of altitude, La Loze is the highest summit in this year's Tour. Two years ago, Jonas Vingegaard dropped Pogačar there on his way to his second Tour title. Vingegaard has been second best to Pogačar this year, lagging four minutes and 15 seconds behind his rival overall.

Mercedes Chief All But Confirms 2026 F1 Driver Lineup Amid Max Verstappen Rumors

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has named George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli as the team's priority for the 2026 Formula One season. The revelation comes after Max Verstappen was strongly linked to Mercedes. Russell and Kimi Antonelli's current contracts expire at the end of 2025, and both drivers are without a confirmed seat for the next season. Russell opened up about Mercedes' ongoing talks with Verstappen last month, when asked about his contract extension. The rumor mill was on overdrive with reports of Verstappen's potential move to Mercedes, given the car challenges being faced by Red Bull. The ousting of team principal Christian Horner added to the speculation about the Dutch driver's future with Red Bull, despite his contract lasting until the end of 2028. While Wolff acknowledged after Russell's admission that there were fewer chances of Verstappen signing with Mercedes for the 2026 season, he has now confirmed that Russell and Kimi Antonelli are the outfit's priority. Speaking to ORF, as quoted by Planet F1, he said: Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team in the Team Principals Press Conference during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Austria at Red Bull Ring on June 27, 2025 in... Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team in the Team Principals Press Conference during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Austria at Red Bull Ring on June 27, 2025 in Spielberg, Austria. More"Discussions have been taking place over the last weeks and months, so they are all up to date. "The direction of travel is that we want to continue with George and Kimi. That is the first priority. "But you can't look past someone like Max and the plans he has for the future. We did that, but I don't think there will be any big surprises." The Mercedes team boss also addressed a report that tracked Verstappen's private jet to Sardinia, the same location where Wolff was vacationing. While rumors suggested that the two met off the coast in their yachts, Wolff has dismissed the report. He said: "What's new is that people are doing photo collages with airplanes. We've never had that before. "But if you spend your holidays close to each other, it doesn't mean that you're going to work together in Formula 1. "We have always gotten along well and by chance we like to spend our holidays at the same places." What is positive for Mercedes is that Russell stood his ground despite Wolff's discussions with Verstappen, confirming his loyalty to his team. Russell said after the Canadian GP last month: "I'm not talking with anybody else and any teams who have shown interest. "I have been quite open to say my intentions are to stay with Mercedes. That's always been clear. And I am loyal to Mercedes. They gave me this chance to get into Formula 1. "There haven't been any hard feelings with any of the talks that have been going around, especially around Max. Because, like I said on numerous times, why wouldn't teams be interested in Max? "If every driver had no contracts for next year, Max would be number one for every single team. And that's understandable. But ultimately, there are two seats for every race team. "I knew if I continue to perform as I'm doing, my position would not be under threat whatsoever. So, I feel in a good place. "We're in no rush to do contract negotiations. We want to win together. Especially Kimi and I being team-mates now – we're getting a result like today, both junior drivers from Mercedes, we're both doing the job in terms of performance. Why would you want to change something that's working?"
