AEG Names Katie Pandolfo General Manager of Crypto.com Arena
Pandolfo brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, most recently serving as the General Manager of Dignity Health Sports Park where she led cross-functional teams through the delivery of thousands of events, including seven MLS Cup Championship matches, three seasons of the National Football League (NFL), Championship Boxing, and Olympic and World Cup Qualifying Matches. Under her tenure and guided by her leadership, the 125-acre campus in Carson, CA has welcomed more than 25 million guests. In taking on this role, Pandolfo becomes one of the few leaders in sports to have experience that spans across all major league sports: MLB, NFL, MLS, and now NHL and the NBA.
As General Manager, she will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the arena – a cornerstone of Los Angeles' sports and entertainment scene, known for its dynamic event schedule, state-of-the-art facilities, and significant cultural contributions. The arena, one of the most active venues in the world, is home to three professional sports franchises — The NBA's Los Angeles Lakers, the NHL's LA Kings and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks — and has hosted over 200 high-profile national and international events annually, such as the NBA and NHL All-Star Games, WWE, Disney on Ice, boxing, concerts, family shows, special events and the annual GRAMMY® Awards. Pandolfo will report directly to Dan Beckerman, President and CEO of AEG.
'Katie brings a wealth of experience to this role having guided the operations and management of Dignity Health Sports Park for over two decades,' said AEG President and CEO, Dan Beckerman. 'She is a talented leader with a proven track record of success in delivering world class events and an incredible reputation for guiding and motivating her team. Her dedication and passion will be invaluable assets in leading Crypto.com Arena into the future, especially as the arena continues to build its legacy as a premier sports and entertainment destination with high-profile global events on the horizon, including the 2026 GRAMMY® Awards, the 2027 NCAA Regional Men's Basketball Tournament, and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic games.'
Pandolfo has a thorough understanding of AEG and deep roots in the Los Angeles community. She is a founding member of the company's Women's Leadership Council and serves on the LA Sports and Entertainment Commission (LASEC), and the City of Carson's Economic Development Commission.
'Crypto.com Arena is more than just a venue, it is a renowned destination and the home of championship teams and iconic performers and events that has been at the forefront in driving live sports and entertainment, delivering innovative guest services and building community,' shared Pandolfo. 'I am excited to join the talented team at Crypto.com Arena and look forward to collaborating with the arena's management team and partners to continue delivering exceptional experiences that shape the future of culture and entertainment.'
Pandolfo succeeds industry veteran Lee Zeidman, who will remain as an advisor to aid in the transition before retiring in 2025.
'Lee has made an indelible and lasting impact on AEG, Crypto.com Arena and the city of Los Angeles and his retirement later this year will mark the end of a remarkable chapter in his career,' added Dan Beckerman. 'I am grateful for Lee's friendship and support over these many years and wholeheartedly thank him for his years of leadership and numerous contributions.'

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reacts to being NBA 2K26 cover athlete: 'A dream come true'
Like King Midas, anything Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has touched over the last year has turned to gold. The 27-year-old is fresh off one of the greatest individual seasons ever. An MVP award and a championship ring headlined his historic campaign. The Oklahoma City Thunder cemented their spot among the greatest teams ever. A historic 68-14 regular-season record translated into the playoffs with the manifestation of a championship. Now, there's no denying Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the best players in the league and is well on his way to being an all-time great. After the championship parade, the accolades kept piling up. He may need to build a second trophy case as his MVP, Western Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP awards were likely stuffed in the first one. To continue his offseason celebrations, Gilgeous-Alexander was also named the NBA 2K26 cover athlete. It's an honor only the NBA's best players have. Gilgeous-Alexander has skyrocketed to the top with three straight 30-plus point campaigns. It's only right that the Year of SGA gets to don the NBA 2K cover. After all, he's one of the highest-rated players in the video game. "It means the world. A game I grew up playing since I was young and can remember," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "To know I'm the cover of the game is a surreal feeling. A dream come true." Gilgeous-Alexander is an unapologetic 2K head. He always talks to Ronnie 2K about the game and gives him feedback. After hoping to land on cover art, the 27-year-old made it undeniable with such a historic season. "I was ecstatic. I was through the moon," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "Tried to hold back some tears." NBA 2K26 will release on Sept. 5. The annual game serves as a reminder to get basketball back in the mainstream after the offseason is about over. The Thunder and Gilgeous-Alexander will enter the 2025-26 season as a favorite to repeat as champions.

Unlike the recent'Dusty Rose' and 'Blue Suede'preview, this pair serves as a player exclusive, celebrating veteran guardChris Paul. Last year he gave participants an exclusiveAir Jordan 39 'Chris Paul' PEand this year he's done the same with the Air Jordan 40. This special version of the shoe appears in pink with a large floral Swoosh placed at the lateral. His 'CP3' logo hits the left shoe's tongue to complete the colorway. However, if there's one thing that's become apparent in recent years, no shoe in Nike's archive is untouchable, so stay tuned for any updates.

From The Archive: The Big Decision
Welcome to this edition of "From The Archive". In this recurring series, we open The Hockey News' vault and display some of the top WHL-related articles from the past. Today's article comes from May 1, 2012, where Ryan Kennedy wrote about former Portland Winterhawks' defenceman Seth Jones. Subscribe now to view the full THN Archives here and read the full issue here. The Big Decision, Draft Preview 2012, May 1, 2012 Seth Jones is always prepared. His October birthday means he'll wait an extra year before becoming eligible for the draft. Playing up with national team development program's under-18 team gave him a legitimate shot at making Team USA's national junior team this season. His birthright as the son of ex-NBA player Popeye Jones is that lessons in being an elite athlete are burned in: 'Nothing comes easy,' Jones said. 'Nothing is going to be handed to you on a platter. It's what people don't see, what you do in practice, that matters.' Jones just makes it look easy. Already 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he brings so many looks to the blueline that his coach struggles to single out a strength. 'I can just say 'everything,'' said Danton Cole. 'He passes well, he shoots well, he has a knack for knowing when to make a play and when to jump into the rush. On the defensive end, he sees the game. He's not overly physical, but he plays the body.' Though he was born in Texas, Jones spent his formative years in Colorado, where he became a big Avs fan. His model NHLer, however, comes from the Red Wings. 'Nick Lidstrom,' he said. 'I know that's lofty, but the way he plays the game, he keeps it simple.' Recently, Jones' life has been rather complex. As the best American prospect yet to commit to a college, the big defender was being courted by the Western League's Everett Silvertips, which hold his major junior rights, and a number of NCAA schools, most notably North Dakota. Jones sees the benefit of both routes. 'With Everett, there's more games played,' he said. 'It's a similar schedule to the NHL. College would be more developmental. You live in a dorm and you have to grow up a little.' Wherever he ends up, it won't be for long. Only a shoulder separation kept Jones off Team USA's national junior squad as a 17-year-old and big expectations have not fazed him. 'He's had a lot on him, but he's a uniquely prepared young man,' Cole said. 'He hasn't let anything become a distraction.'
