Al Subaie visits IAEA's marine environment labs
NICE, FRANCE: Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has visited the Marine Environment Laboratories of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the Principality of Monaco, on the sidelines of his participation in the Third Ocean Conference held in Nice, France.
The minister met with Descroy Commanducci, Director of the Agency's Marine Laboratories, and discussed areas of cooperation between the two sides, ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of marine environment protection, and building national technical capabilities in this field.
Al Subaie is heading the State of Qatar's delegation participating in Ocean Conference which is being held from June 9 to 13.

Iran signals openness to transfers of enriched uranium abroad
Iran could transfer its stocks of enriched uranium to another country in the event of an agreement with the United States on Tehran's nuclear programme, Iran's UN Ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani said on Saturday, according to news site Al-Monitor. A transfer of 20% and 60% enriched uranium would not be a red line for Tehran, Iravani said, adding that the material could alternatively remain in Iran under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervision. However, he stressed that Iran would not renounce its right to domestic uranium production, a condition the United States firmly rejects. Iravani also ruled out any restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile programme, and reiterated that a new agreement would hinge, among other conditions, on the lifting of international sanctions. His remarks come hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X late Friday that Iran is fundamentally willing to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, though he urged US President Donald Trump to moderate his tone. 'If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran's Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt followers,' Araghchi said. 'Good will begets good will, and respect begets respect.' Trump recently said that new talks with Iran would take place 'next week,' though he offered no further details. Several previous rounds of negotiations between Washington and Tehran have failed to yield an agreement. Earlier this month, tensions escalated sharply when Israel, accusing Iran of fast-approaching a point of no return in its goal of obtaining atomic weapons, carried out strikes on nuclear sites, defence positions, cities and energy infrastructure during a 12-day war. Iran to temporarily suspend cooperation with IAEA
The Iranian parliament has voted to temporarily suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), state broadcaster IRIB reported on Wednesday. The move came amid conflicting reports over how badly the country's nuclear programme was damaged by the targeted US strikes at the weekend. IAEA head Rafael Grossi had earlier called for nuclear inspections in Iran to resume following the ceasefire between the Islamic Republic and Israel. Iran would not allow any IAEA inspectors into the country until the 'safety' of the nuclear facilities is guaranteed, said Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The decision by the Iranian parliament not to work further with the IAEA still needs to be approved by Iran's Guardian Council and the Security Council. The Security Council, led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, is the most important political decision-making body in the country. US-Iran talks ongoing When it came to current relations with Iran, the US is 'actually getting along with them very well right now,' President Trump said. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed late Tuesday that the US has begun talks with Iran on a permanent peace agreement. Speaking on Fox News, Witkoff said that the talks are 'promising.' Netanyahu guilty of ‘dragging' US into conflict, says Iran
Iran's mission to the UN has blamed Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu over the US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. In a social media post, it accused Israel's leader of 'dragging the United States into yet another costly war'. 'America has, once more, recklessly chosen to sacrifice its own security merely to safeguard Netanyahu,' Iran said, adding that Israel and the US had 'destroyed diplomacy'. Although the United Kingdom and France have sought to distance themselves from Israel and the US's actions against Iran, Tehran said that they, along with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi, would also 'bear full responsibility for the death of innocent civilians in Iran, especially women and children, and for the destruction of vital civilian infrastructure'. So far, more than 400 people have been killed in Iran during the conflict. (Agencies)
