Arshdeep Singh likely to be ruled out of fourth Test between India and England in Manchester
'He has stitches on his hand and is likely won't be available for the fourth Test match, the Indian team will see if he is ready for the fifth Test or not,' a source informed The Indian Express.
Arshdeep hasn't been entrusted with a spot yet in Tests but if the team management chooses to rest one of the pacers, he was in the running to make his debut.
India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said: 'Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball and he tried to stop it and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches it's going to be important to our planning for the next few days.'
On Day 4 of the third Test at Lord's, in the 28th over of the England innings, Akash Deep left for the dressing room after feeling discomfort. With the team physio by his side, the pacer held his waist and grimaced. The 28-year-old has had a history of injuries that sidelined him in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024 and also in the 2025 IPL season. After being treated in the dressing room, the pacer returned to the field but didn't bowl that day.
The tourists are already faced with concerns over the injury to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. He was struck on the index finger of his left hand as he attempted to collect a Jasprit Bumrah delivery that flew down the leg side during England's first innings on Day 1 of the Lord's Test. Pant was in visible pain and did not keep wickets for the rest of the Test. I
The Indian team will play its fourth Test match in Manchester which is scheduled to kick off from July 23.

Arjun finishes sixth, Praggnanandhaa seventh in Freestyle Chess Grand Slam
Indian stars Arjun Erigaisi and R. Praggnanandhaa finished in sixth and seventh position respectively, even as Grandmaster Levon Aronian of the United States reigned supreme in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam here. Aronian survived some anxious moments before defeating compatriot Hans Moke Niemann 1.5-0.5 in the finals of the tournament. World number one Magnus Carlsen of Norway also had a similar experience as he rallied after a disappointing first game to outplay Hikaru Nakamura of the United States in the third-place play-off. Arjun went down 0-2 to Fabiano Caruana of the US, while Praggnanandhaa defeated another American Wesley So 1.5-0.5 to clinch the seventh spot among last eight remaining participants in this event. Aronian took home $200000 for winning the tournament, while Arjun got $40000 for his effort. Praggnanandhaa made sure he wasn't far behind as he pocketed a total of $30000 after his final round win. Praggnanandhaa played solidly as black in the first game and played out a draw while in the second he was relentless as he cruised home easily on a day when his sister R Vaishali was ousted from the FIDE Women's World Cup at Batumi, Georgia. After a promising start in the event that saw him in the early stage semifinals, Arjun lost both his games against Caruana but the Indian will be happy with the fact that he was in the top four after the group stage was over. It's going to be a busy summer ahead for Arjun and Praggnanandhaa as both will now proceed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the E-Sports World Cup that starts in just a few days' time. Thereafter Arjun will be seen in action in the Chennai Grandmasters tournament starting in the first week of August while Praggnanandhaa will go back to United States for two back-to-back events of the Grand Chess tour in St. Louis. Results finals: Levon Aronian (Usa) beat Hans Moke Niemann (Usa) 1.5-0.5; Magnus Carlsen (Nor) beat Hikaru Nakamura (Usa) 1.5-0.5; 5-6 place: Arjun Erigaisi (Ind) lost to Fabiano Caruana (Usa) 0-2; 7-8 place: R Praggnanandhaa (Ind) beat Wesley So (Usa) 1.5-0.5.

Kamboj added as cover; Reddy doubtful
Young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been added to the Indian squad for the remaining two Tests in England as a cover for the uncapped Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep, and there's a likelihood of the Haryana debutant featuring in the fourth game that kicks off at Old Trafford on July 23. Although there's no official word from the BCCI, it has been learnt that Kamboj was summoned by the selectors considering Arshdeep and Akash are racing against time to be fit for the Manchester match, which India need to win or draw to keep the series, which England lead 2-1, alive. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep, who is a regular feature in T20Is and was a key member of the triumphant T20 World Cup campaign in the Americas last year, suffered a cut to his bowling hand during a training session in Beckenham on Thursday.
