Tyler, The Creator's New No. 1 Helps His Older Bestsellers Reappear

Forbesa day ago
Tyler, The Creator debuts his new album Don't Tap the Glass atop multiple Billboard charts in the United States this week. The hip-hop powerhouse returns to No. 1 on several important tallies, and the success of this latest effort appears to buoy his entire catalog. Fans are also returning to older projects from the rapper at the same time that Don't Tap the Glass becomes another standout win, and multiple previous efforts from the Odd Future talent climb back onto a handful of rankings.
Five Tyler Albums Chart Simultaneously
In what has become another huge frame for Tyler, five of his albums appear on at least one Billboard list. Two of them manage to reenter particularly high-profile rosters.
Flower Boy makes the most impressive comeback. That set, released in 2017, bounds back onto the Billboard 200 at No. 177. At the same time, it narrowly reappears on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, coming in at No. 49, in second to last on the 50-position tally.
Vinyl Sales Lift Call Me If You Get Lost
As Flower Boy climbs back onto a pair of rankings, Call Me If You Get Lost reenters just one. Tyler's 2021 bestselling collection returns to the Vinyl Albums chart at No. 25. At the moment, that's the only list where Call Me If You Get Lost appears.
New Album Launches at No. 1 on Five Charts
Don't Tap the Glass opens at No. 1 on five Billboard charts this week: the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, Vinyl Albums, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top Rap Albums rankings. The only list it fails to conquer is Top Streaming Albums roster, where it opens at No. 4, though it does earn Tyler just his second top 10 placement on that particular ranking.
As Don't Tap the Glass starts high and both Flower Boy and Call Me If You Get Lost surge, Cherry Bomb and Igor also grow on multiple tallies. Consumption of nearly everything in Tyler's catalog expands, which speaks to the excitement around his latest full-length, as well as his general, unceasing popularity.

Reneé Rapp Says ‘Bite Me' On New Album

Actress-turned-singer Reneé Rapp has been doubling down on her music career since the release of her debut studio album Snow Angel in 2023. Last year, she wrapped up her stint on The Sex Lives of College Girls after a breakout performance in the Mean Girls musical film adaptation. Now, the North Carolina-bred star is back with her sophomore LP, Bite Me. Rapp first gave a taste — or a bite, if you will — of the album with lead single 'Leave Me Alone' in May and followed it up with singles 'Mad' and 'Why Is She Still Here?'' When making the album, she looked to icons like Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett to inform her vision of what it should sound like. While she recorded her last album while juggling long days filming Mean Girls, she was able to hunker down more forcefully for Bite Me, resulting in a finished product she's proud of. 'I tried to be more careful and cognizant of my time spent making this project, not only taking time to make it, but also really controlling what was going on around me,' she told Rolling Stone. 'I started seeking my own approval, which was the biggest difference. And not only did I try to cultivate my own approval, but I was trying to cultivate my own environment.' Though Rapp has been kinder to herself, she still worries if it will translate incorrectly in others' perception of herself. 'My biggest fear is being misunderstood,' she told InStyle. 'I'm a very passionate person. I'm very sensitive. I am protective. I think that sometimes people can construe that as me just being a b***h. I just have very big emotions and I feel very hard. It was really hard to live like that when I was a kid. It was very difficult." The Bite Me Tour kicks off Sept. 23 in Denver and wraps up March 19 in London.

Jon Stewart Slams Right-Wingers For Trying To 'Create Rules That They Would Never Follow'

Jon Stewart on Thursday dismissed questions over whether the Federal Communications Commission — chaired by Project 2025 contributor Brendan Carr — would 'go after' shows with a 'conservative bias.' The comments from Stewart arrived on the latest episode of his 'Weekly Show' podcast after producer Brittany Mehmedovic referred to Fox News' coverage of allegedleft-wingbias on television. 'This is them trying to police and create rules that they would never follow,' Stewart said. 'The idea that by having what may be a more left-leaning or progressive bent or just bringing in — that's how Fox is popular!' Stewart turned his attention to Fox News' Greg Gutfeld, who — while benefiting from an earlier 10 p.m. EST slot compared to other late-night hosts — has continued to dominate in the ratings department. 'He's not popular because he's a both-sides guy... He's relentless, and after a day of watching Fox News and being bathed in their very purposeful propaganda, it's a great way to top off the night,' Stewart said. He proceeded to mock former 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno, who recently criticized comics for getting too political. 'The whole thing is fucking ridiculous,' he said. Stewart's remarks arrive just weeks after CBS announced its decision to cancel 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.' While CBS claimed the move was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,' critics questioned if the network did so for political reasons, as its parent company Paramount Global looked for FCC approval on a multibillion-dollar merger with SkyDance Media. Earlier in the month, Paramount agreed to a $16 million settlement with Trump over his widely criticized '60 Minutes' lawsuit. Carr, who has notably sought to use the agency to punish broadcasters deemed unfair to the president and conservatives, recently mocked Democrats 'wailing' over the 'Late Show' cancellation. He's gone on to dodge questions over whether Trump had 'anything to do' with the move. Stewart slammed Carr's 'shitposting' and predicted that he won't be going after conservative-leaning programs. 'He is probably right now on a search for more right-wing billionaires that can buy up some more of these properties because there's going to be an acquisition and merger spree for these kinds of things,' he said. Netflix's No. 1 Show Right Now Is This Wild Mystery Series I Can't Stop Watching

America's national parks are some of our greatest treasures — but how do we know what's really happening out in all that wilderness? In Untamed, a new Netflix series starring Eric Bana, a special agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB), tries to answer that question after a body is discovered in Yosemite National Park. This limited series, which is currently the most popular show on Netflix, combines a stunning setting with character-driven drama and a gripping mystery. Watch With Us breaks down the reasons you shouldn't miss Untamed on Netflix. The Setting Is Breathtaking Untamed wasn't actually filmed at Yellowstone — instead, it was mostly shot in Canada. However, the verdant hills of British Columbia do a stunning job of standing in for the national park that Bana's character, Kyle Turner, mentions is 'the size of Rhode Island.' Between stunning aerial shots of the real Yellowstone and the composite locations used to approximate the park on the ground, Untamed creates an immersive and beautiful world for Turner and park rangers Paul Souter (Sam Neill) and Naya Vazquez (Lily Santiago) to explore. This 2015 Mystery Series Is Massively Popular on Netflix — Here's Why You Should Binge It The Mystery Pulls You In The body of a Jane Doe is discovered in the most jarring way possible — two mountain climbers see her fall over the edge of a cliff as they're scaling the rock face. The body nearly knocks them down themselves. When Turner enters the case, he's quickly able to determine that the woman was dead before her fall — meaning there's a serious mystery to unravel here. The story integrates all sorts of elements from the park into the mystery itself — Indigenous practices that bear similarities to some Jane Doe's identifying marks, past Yellowstone cases that bear striking similarities and still haunt Turner and the sheer size of the terrain, which makes it disturbingly easy for people to go missing. The twists and turns of the investigation are genuinely unexpected. It Features a Partner Dynamic That Really Works As Ranger Vazquez, Lily Santiago does an admirable job of portraying the newer ranger's eagerness to learn from Turner despite his rough and brooding demeanor. She becomes a de facto partner to the ISB investigator, and watching their relationship unfold is one of the true pleasures of the show. Alongside Vazquez, we learn about a tragic incident from Turner's past that shattered his marriage to Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt), which has a significant impact on their Jane Doe investigation. His nearly obsessive fixation on finding justice feels truly motivated, rather than him just playing into the 'brooding cop with a dark past' stereotype. Though a 'grizzled older cop with an idealistic rookie' is also a familiar trope, Vazquez and Turner's dynamic doesn't feel rote. Instead, their relationship feels refreshing, especially since Vazquez is also hiding secrets of her own. It's a Quick Binge with a Satisfying Ending This may sound like a backhanded compliment, but it's true — at only 6 episodes, Untamed is a show you can get through in a weekend. Surprisingly, it moves at a fast clip without leaving too many loose ends. This Emmy-Nominated 2024 Mystery Show Is Still Criminally Underrated — and Worth Watching Without giving any spoilers, the show pays off the central mystery in a satisfying way. If you're looking for a mystery thriller that will pull you in and tie everything up by the finale, Untamed is that show — which makes it a great watch. Stream all of Untamed on Netflix now.
